CBN moves to stimulate the economy

The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi addresses key issues in the economy.

At the University of Lagos, on Thursday, Information Technology giants, Google inaugurated its Google Maps in Nigeria, which is a navigational service that can help one locate major cities and towns in the country.

Present at the launch, which also was used as a forum to train some Nigerian developers on application of the Google Maps, were Christian Miccio, Product Manager Google Maps EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), Nelson Mattose, Vice President Google Engineering EMEA and Nyimbi Odero, Google's West Africa lead. They spoke of their company's plans under G-Nigeria, a means to add value to the lives of their customers.

In a desperate move to return an ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua home from Saudi Arabia before the expiration of the two weeks given by a High Court Judge, a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and the services of an air ambulance have been procured. The ambulance arrived in Lagos last week. Authoritative NEXT sources say it is of "utmost priority that the president should be in the country in whatever shape or form on or before this weekend," but close family friends are holding their breath.
