10 poorest countries in the world
by Timilehin odelade 3 months ago

Typically, the wealth of a country is measured by its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, which is the purchasing power of all goods and services produced in a country, divided by its population. In essence, this defines the purchasing power of a single person within the country.

10 – Guinea (GDP per capita of $523.10)
Guinea hasn’t seen a period of economic stability since the 1990’s, when their mining and agricultural industries did them well. Since then however, Guinea has fallen victim to sever sociopolitical crises, which rapidly decayed the state of their economy. Much of their economy is still largely based on agriculture, which is difficult because farmers only have access to outdated information and obsolete technology, as investors tend to shy away from the nation entirely.
How to lose weight

9 – Ethiopia (GDP per capita of $505.00

Since 2007, Ethiopia has places itself above many sub-Saharan African nations in terms of its economic performance. Although regardless of this, it remains one of the poorest nations in the world, only holding a GDP per capita of $505.00. This is a result of Ethiopia’s large population, and dependence on a poorly funded, underdeveloped, and vulnerable agricultural industry as a staple in their economy.

know your worth

8 – The Gambia (GDP per capita of $488.60)

With a GDP per capita of $488.60, and over half of the population living well under the poverty line, the people of The Gambia are subject to such a poor standard of living that the nation falls into a “hunger season” when rainfall is at its peak.
How to secure your Home

7 – Democratic Republic of the Congo (GDP per capita of $484.20)

With a GDP per capita of $484.20, a large portion of the nation’s people remain unemployed, and their lack of money thus results in their living within greatly inadequate living conditions.

10 things Men hates in ladies

6 – Madagascar (GDP per capita of $463.00)

Madagascar has a GDP per capita of $463.00, with about 70 percent of the nation’s people living under the poverty line. Once again reliant primarily on agriculture, the vulnerability of the industry, lack of potent farming land, and the growing population only make their economic situation worse and worse over time.

5 – Liberia (GDP per capita of $454.30

The GDP per capita of the war-torn nation stands at $454.30, and in 2010, it was estimated that more than 80 percent of the nation’s people were living less with less than $1.25 per day. With low yields due to old farming technologies, as well as having overall poor infrastructure, Libera only marks the halfway point down this list of the poorest countries in the world.

4 – Niger (GDP per capita of $415.40)

Niger’s economy is driven by two main forces: the extraction of valuable natural resources available within the nation (including gold, uranium, and even oil), and small-scale agriculture. Unfortunately, both of these economic sources can easily be devastated by random shifts in climate and weather, and thus Niger has struggled in developing themselves economically.

3 – Central African Republic (GDP per capita of $333.20)

Like Liberia, the Central African Republic has in the past been victim to war and
significant political instability. The landlocked central African nation also supports very, very poor infrastructure, thus limiting the efficiency of the distribution of the nation’s resources.

2 – Burundi (GDP per capita of $267.10)

With the population growing rapidly, food prices rising, and a GDP per capita of $267.10, Burundi places as the second poorest country in the world.
1 – Malawi (GDP per capita of $226.50)

With common weather variations, as well as injuries and fatalities facilitated by poor health care, Malawi’s world lowest GDP per capita of $226.50 doesn’t seem like it will be rising too significantly any time soon.

hollayemy89:
Niue, one of the world's largest coral atolls, is approximately 1500 miles northeast of New Zealand.
The English navigator, James Cook, first sighted this beautiful spot in 1774, but was refused landing three times by Niuean warriors. Cook departed, but charted Niue and named it Savage Island.
Niue's remoteness, as well as cultural and linguistic differences between its Polynesian inhabitants and those of the rest of the Cook Islands, have caused it to be separately administered by New Zealand since the early 1900s.
The local economy suffers from the typical small Pacific island problems of geographic isolation, very limited natural resources, and a small decreasing population. In fact, the population of Niue continues to drop (from a peak of 5,200 in 1966 to about 2,200 in 2004), with substantial on-going emigration to New Zealand.
Revenues from the sale of collectable postage stamps and tourism give the local economy a much-needed boost.

According to WISP, the aim was to measure security provider performance across the four domains of internal security: capacity, process, legitimacy and outcomes.
Secondly, to see how these domains relate to each other and finally to track trends in these domains over time, and to inform the work of security providing agencies, researchers, and practitioners in the field of peace and conflict studies, criminology, and police studies.

Out of the 127 nations ranked by the World Internal Security and Police index (WISP) The Nigeria Police was placed at the bottom of the List.

According to WISP, the aim was to measure security provider performance across the four domains of internal security: capacity, process, legitimacy and outcomes.

That is how one girl back then when I was a kid was chewing gum and drinking a bottle of coke simultaneously. Unfortunately, while trying to talk to someone, she mistakenly swallowed the bottle of coke and the chewing gum but the bottle of coke didn't digest.

Till today, the bottle of coke is still gummed to the girl's oesophagus by the chewing gum.

Anyone doubting me can ask Ishilove, she knows who I'm talking about.

EducationWhat Happens To You When You Swallow Chewing Gum by TimmyPapa(op): 6:44pm On Nov 15, 2017
As kids, many of us were warned not to swallow chewing gum. We were told that it will stick around for years inside the gut, or worse, near the heart.
Almost everyone has swallowed a piece of gum, but few kids have ever needed a doctor because of it. You might have heard that swallowed gum stays in your stomach for 7 years. That's not true.

Swallowing a large mass of gum, or many small pieces of gum over a short period of time, can block the digestive tract in rare cases. Blockage is most likely when gum is swallowed along with foreign objects, like coins, or when swallowed with non-digestible materials like sunflower seeds.
Little kids are most likely to be affected because they might not understand that gum is chewed, not swallowed.
But apart from these strange scenarios, swallowing an occasional piece of gum is harmless.

What Exactly Happens to the Gum?

Rankings are based on a number of key drivers, including tolerance, safety, standard of living and attractiveness to tourists. The overall marks are given out of 100.
Common themes in the rankings are Intolerance, Religious Extremism, and Poor foreign relations.
Keep scrolling to see the 15 countries with the worst reputations in the world:

16. Egypt 45.22
Egypt is the most populated country in North Africa and one of the most politically fraught, with liberals and Muslim Brotherhood voters alike opposed to the current government. This has given Egypt an dangerous reputation, and tourists have been warned to stay away.

15. Romania 44.1
Romania has been a member of the EU since 2007, but with the chance for free movement there has been something of an exodus from the country. Over two million people estimated to have moved to other parts of Europe since then which, unfairly or not, hasn't helped its reputation.

14. China 44.08
Though there's no doubting China's economic strength and the value of its export industry, its reputation on human rights and high standards of living for every citizen has yet to catch up.

13. Turkey 42.73
President Erdogan recently survived an attempted military coup, but it looks like the country's civil liberties have suffered as thousands of academics, journalists and public sector workers were immediately arrested in the aftermath. There is also talk of bringing the death penalty back.

12. Ukraine — 42.54
Along with racism and xenophobia, government transparency is also a problem in Ukraine. Over the summer, there were large protests against President Viktor Yanukovych in Kiev.

11. Colombia 42.46
Colombia is a beautiful country, but drug-related crime is still crippling its reputation. The nation is one of the world's biggest producers and exporters of cocaine, and the government has to send patrols all over the jungle to hunt for illegal makeshift factories.

10. Kazakhstan 41.58
Kazakhstan was the last Soviet republic to become independent in 1991, and its oil reserves have made it a fast-growing economy. But its relatively desolate landscape means it's not high on most tourist's wish-list.

9. Nicaragua 41.08
Nicaragua's active volcanoes make it popular with adventurous travelers, but this central American country still falls short in the progressive department: abortions are illegal without exception. Droughts also plague Nicaragua which is a problem for tourism.

8. Angola 40.95
Poverty and political corruption run rife in the aftermath of a decades-long civil war, and extreme droughts put many off visiting.

7. Algeria 40.52
Another North African nation ravaged by civil war, today Algeria suffers from a lack of political transparency: the government of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika is routinely criticised for media censorship and intimidating behaviour towards opponents.

6. Russia 39.82
A nation that needs no introduction, Russia has considerable homophobia issues which some say are encouraged by the government. Putin's foreign policy, particularly concerning Syria, also makes people wary and harms the country's reputation.

5. Nigeria 36.37
Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa thanks to rich reserves of oil, but corruption in the country and religious tolerance in the country leaves a lot to be desired and has led to the rise of the terrorist group Boko Haram. Nigeria's reputation was further harmed by Fulani herdsmen and Ebola outbreak.

VIEW: 20 Most Powerful Militaries in the world

4. Saudi Arabia 36.32
Saudi Arabia is one of the world's biggest suppliers of oil but that wealth is highly concentrated to Saudi royal family, who are the face of the country for most outsiders. Gender rights there still have a long way to go too, with women still not allowed to drive, though they have at least been able to vote since 2015.

3. Pakistan
Pakistan is seen by many as a hotbed of religious extremism, and this has affected tourism accordingly. Although there is a burgeoning feminist movement led by the likes of Malala Yousafzai, women still endure subordination for the time being.

2. Iran — 29.74
Iran was a comparatively liberal place in the 1970s, but after the Islamic Revolution its reputation diminished as a more authoritarian government took power, civil unrest became the norm and relations with the US and Israel collapsed.

1. Iraq — 24.56
Iraq has been one of the most high-profile war zones over the last 20 years, making it the country with the worst reputation in the world. The US and UK-led Iraq War began in 2003 and is still technically ongoing
Bagdad endures almost daily suicide bombings and insurgencies seem to have no end in sight.
