Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), one of the militant groups operating in oil-rich region, said that at least 20 soldiers died during the military operation “Crocodile smile”. The group in a statement signed by its spokesman Brig Gen Mudoch Agbinibo and made available to NAIJ.com offered their condolences to the families and Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari, C-In-C of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the soldiers murdered in the current military operation. The statement reads: “Mr. President from available facts, the untimely deaths of these four (4) fine soldiers in the creeks of Bayelsa and another sixteen (16) that was recorded during the first four days of the exercise along the River Ethiope, in Delta state but was earlier covered up is nothing more than act of murder.” The militants claimed that the soldiers died due to negligence, administrative greed and a corruption within the military constructed and perfected by the ascendant APC political class (conflict merchants we have mentioned times without numbers) from the Niger Delta and some Abuja paid and bought up interest. “Mr. President, the worrisome dimensions about the ongoing reorganization and restructuring of the unending security operations in the Niger Delta is where two of your head of security apparatus are boasting to the minister of defense that, they have your hears. They assured him, it is now their turn to bloat their pockets and that they can talk you to even borrowing money to sustain the insecurity in the region, which the honourable minister of defense concurred to before the ongoing exercises. “We have earlier advised against timing, strategy and objectives of the show of military might and the deployment of military hardwares to the Niger Delta suddenly when there is certainly cessation of hostilities for peace talks to commence. But the top hierarchy of the Nigerian military led by Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, your chief of army staff was only after his pecuniary monetary gains and that of some Akpakpa- AJUDAIBO CHAMPAGNE intelligence chief who is desperately arm-twisting the peace processes continuously,” the Avengers added. They wondered why to hurry to train over two thousand military personnel for just 4 to 14 days on amphibious military exercise to occupy the Niger Delta region when the Niger Elders and stakeholders are awaiting your response for peace talks. The group continued: “Have you forgotten the exploits of our great fathers during the infamous Nigerian Civil War in amphibious warfare without any military training? Is it because they were volunteers as such the success was credited to Late Lt. Col. Benjamin Adekunle and Lt. Col Olusegun Obasanjo instead of them? Mr. President as a veteran of that fateful war, you know that after all failures, the amphibious warfare and successes was under the command of Lt. Gen. Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro of blessed memories, the pride and face of the 3rd Marine Commandos (3MCDOS) constituted of able-bodied Ijaw warriors voluntarily. They were not given any formal military training prior to that great contribution to the unity of Nigeria, but they succeeded because there were amphibious by nature. “Mr. President, the truth to be told, we are the “GREAT WHITE SHARKS” of the Atlantic when it comes to marine warfare! “Operation Crocodile Smiles” is ironically, a simulative military operation exercise for waters less than 2 fathoms in depth orchestrated by the top hierarchy of the military to undermine any genuine disposition from your government towards restoration of tranquility in the Niger Delta and to exhaust your security budget for the year, except you are thinking otherwise towards peace in the Niger Delta too. “We the Ijaws and the people of the Niger Delta occurred here times immemorial. We have resisted, any attempt of exclusions in the control of our God given resources, from the Portuguese and British colonial trades and periods to date. We are ever ready to continue that resistance even without guns and ammunitions. “Finally, Mr. President, we want you to commission a high powered panel to investigate all processes that led to the ongoing military operation and exercise in the Niger Delta tagged “Operation Crocodile Smiles” and all the ongoing cover-ups of military mishaps that have led to more than twenty (20) deaths so far. Mr. President, in practical terms Crocodiles do not have any capacity to swim close to the water depth small tiger sharks swim and play around not to talk of the depths of the great whites, the heart of the nation’s economic where we have overmastered. “The mission ongoing in the Niger Delta is a brainchild of orchestrated military corruption at your face Mr. President. Operation Crocodile Smiles is nothing but a conduit pipe for military contracts, political profiteerism and patronages designed for the stress of your administration’s scarce resources. http://www.unitednaija.com/2016/09/just-avengers-expose-dirty-operations-buharis-army/ If it has any other purpose, it is satisfy the ego of a trigger happy chief army staff who killed over 800 Shiite just to have the right of way to a meeting even though there were other routes to his meeting. For the records, depths of 2-3 fathoms in the Niger Delta region is likened to the waters our kids of ages between 3-8 years bathe and swarm with crocodiles, alligators and other aquatic creatures in the mangroves/freshwater swamps of Niger Delta creeks.” Niger Delta militant groups, including NDA, have launched the attacks on oil and gas pipelines since February 2016.The militants demand a greater share of Nigeria’s oil wealth for the impoverished but oil-rich region. On August 29, Avengers announced that it halted hostilities in the region and is ready to talk with the government. Meanwhile, the production losses have left Nigeria facing questions about how it will fund its record budget. |
A man’s wife and mistress somehow turned up at the hospital to visit him at the same time with very predictable results. https://www.unitednaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Balarabe-Musa.jpg Northern leader and national chairman of Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Balarabe Musa has told Nigerians to protest against President Buhari’s administration. Daily Post quoted Balarabe as telling The Sun in an interview that hunger is a powerful tool in instigating protests and since the current administration has failed in ensuring food security, then Nigerians have a right protect their interests by protesting. He however admitted that this could have dire consequences for the Buhari-led administration. He said: “Well, they should protest. I know that it is a risk because security men may shoot them. However, they should protest because this is their life. Somebody is playing with their lives, somebody is destroying their lives, they should defend their lives and protect their interest. “Before the last general election, many Nigerians saw Buhari as an angel who could rescue the country from socio-economic problems but Nigerians are now saying that they misjudged, and Nigerians should in future make sure that they access any prospective leader critically, taking into account his records, his inclination and everything, particularly records of performance in office. “Nigerians are not different from the rest of human kinds; they are not different from the rest of the people in the world. Whatever people did in the world to protect themselves or show their anger against bad government, Nigerians can do it, and nobody should deceive himself that Nigerians are so docile, that they will not revolt. Anger pushes anybody to the limit.” According to him, “The idea of government asking Nigerians to be patient can only be sustained in a situation whereby people see hope and changes. But where people don’t see changes, where they don’t see the basis for expecting changes, and they suffer continuously, appealing to them to be patient i may befutile. “There is hunger in the land and Nigerians are dying of hunger. I dare to warn the President and everybody that can listen, that history has proved that mass hunger, hunger of the population, mass poverty of the population, killer hunger have always been the most immediate cause of proletarian revolution in every country of the world. And the President should know this; let him not be deceived by those who are benefitting from the current situation of hunger.” Meanwhile, Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi-West Senatorial District has called on President Buhari to take drastic measures on the ailing economy, including the immediate sack of the minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, minister of budget and national planning, Senator Udo Udoma Kemi Adeosun and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele. Melaye, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, September 4, said the president must shake up his cabinet and accused some members of cabinet as lacking the capacity to deliver on the mandates of their ministries and agencies. http://www.unitednaija.com/2016/09/tension-northern-leader-calls-protest-buhari/ |

The call by northern leader and national chairman of Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Balarabe Musa, for Nigerians to protest against President Buhari’s administration has caused a debate on social media. Balarabe Musa had charged Nigerians to protest against the Buhari administration over the failure of the administration to ensure food security, adding that hunger is a powerful tool in instigating protests. The northern leader in an interview with the Sun, accused Buhari of playing with and destroying the lives of Nigerians. He recalled that before the last general election, many Nigerians saw Buhari as an angel who could rescue the country from socio-economic problems but that Nigerians are now saying that they misjudged. Balarabe Musa’s criticism of the administration comes after another northern leader, the Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi II, warned President Buhari that his administration may end like the Jonathan administration if it fails to retrace its footsteps. However, some netizens have interpreted the latest criticism by Balarabe Musa and Lamido Sanusi as an indication that the northern elites are beginning to reject the president. Where do you stand on this issue, do you think President Buhari is still the promised messiah? See reactions on the issue below:

War is brewing and the militants in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria have asked residents around major oil and gas facilities across the region to evacuate with immediate effect in order not to end up as casualties of militancy. Announcing the order, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM) said all marked facilities in the region have been rigged with explosives at strategic points, waiting to be detonated, adding that the detonation was being held back because of the people in the environment. “One more time, we are warning and at the same time appealing to residents around major oil and gas facilities across our region to please evacuate immediately. “This warning has become necessary because of the fact that we do not wish any of our people, for whom we have taken up this crusade, to become casualties of our campaign. “All the marked facilities in all the states have been rigged with explosives at strategic points, waiting to be detonated. “We are only being slowed down because of the presence of those still living close by. This struggle will only cease when the adversarial Nigerian system yields to reason,” a statement by the group’s spokesman, Aldo Agbalaja read. NDGJM warned the Federal Government to be wary of Chief Edwin Clark, insisting that the ceasefire declared by the elder statesman on behalf of militants was “a big fat lie, another charade.” the group maintained that there was no reason yet for the group to halt its assault against oil facilities when the government was “yet to move a muscle to respond to our requests,” adding the group has no member or talking leader by the name ODU. “This said call and the so-called ceasefire is all a job, just like the Ijaw-dominated, Clark convened Niger Delta stakeholders meeting in Effurun was, they both are meant to justify money they hope to obtain from government. “The high command of the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate uses this medium to alert the world to disregard this fraud. We have our means of communicating, definitely not a call. With this development, if the Nigerian security system is serious about catching frauds and militants, they should get those who claimed to have spoken on phone with ODU, they should still have his physical contacts. “When we make our next ‘LOUD’ statement, they should go after ODU, who just claimed to be the leader of the mandate,” the statement added. The group has also reaffirmed its lack of confidence in the Chief Edwin Clark-led team to dialogue with the federal government. The group insisted it has not appointed anyone or group to go into negotiating with anybody or government on its behalf. The group, in a statement signed by Gen. Aldo Agbalaja, warned the federal government to be wary of the antics of some leaders in the region who out of desperation to make money are capable of doing anything to defraud anyone in the guise of championing the course of the Niger Delta region. Meanwhile, Nnamdi Kanu who is the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has vowed to destroy Nigeria. The pro-Biafra champion who has been incarcerated since 2015 explained that he plans to destroy Nigeria not with explosives but with truth. https://www.unitednaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/mili.jpg http://www.unitednaija.com/2016/09/militants-tells-residents-vacate-oil-facilities/ https://www.unitednaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/bomb.jpg |
The UN has described Nigeria as a “divided society on the basis of the plurality of ethnic, religious and regional identities that had tended to define the country’s political existence.” This was made known to the public during a consultative meeting on the formulation of the UN Development Assistance Framework IV (UNDAF IV) for the South-East geo-political zone in Awka. The report noted that for decades, different segments of Nigeria’s population had, at different times, expressed feelings of marginalisation, of being short-changed, dominated, oppressed, threatened, or even targeted for elimination. The report also painted a gloomy picture for the country as most of the development and social indices in Nigeria recorded much below acceptable standards. It noted that the major challenges facing Nigeria were constraints of economic growth and social development and lack of good governance. https://www.unitednaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Barack_Obama_chairs_a_United_Nations_Security_Council_meeting-696x464.jpg Part of the report read: “Nigeria is one of the poorest and most unequal countries in the world, with over 80 million or 64 per cent of her population living below poverty line. “Poverty and hunger have remained high in rural areas, remote communities and among female-headed households and these cut across the six geo-political zones, with prevalence ranging from approximately 46.9 per cent in the South-west to 74.3 per cent in North-west and North-east. “Nigeria’s economy is currently in a recession and it is estimated that government revenues have fallen by as much as 33 per cent, which has further resulted in the contraction of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 0.36 per cent in the first three months of 2016. “The vulnerable macroeconomic environment in Nigeria is affecting investors’ confidence in the domestic economy.” The report also revealed widespread cases of violence against women and girls, including physical and sexual assault, even as it noted that 42 per cent of Nigerian youths were unemployed. “Nigeria faces humanitarian and emergency crises of considerable proportions fueled by a combination of factors including climate change, inter-communal conflicts and violence, insurgency, recurring floods, heavy handed tactics of security forces in combating crime and insurgency. “The overall consequence is the situation of systematic and chronic internal displacement that has given rise to different humanitarian crises that include the most egregious and dehumanising human rights abuses,” the report stated. The report however noted that transforming and diversifying Nigeria’s development paths needed a radical and new approach. It recommended investing in people and in a strong more dynamic and inclusive productive informal sector. Last week, the UN regional humanitarian coordinator, Toby Lanzer rated the growing humanitarian crisis in Borno as being at level with that of war-torn regions across the world. Lanzer gave the sad rating during a visit to Bama, the largest Borno town to come under the siege of the Islamist militant sect, Boko Haram. “Having worked in Darfur, Chechnya, and South Sudan, this is about as bad as it gets,” Lanzer was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund has warned that if timely aid is not availed, 49,000 children will lose their lives in Nigeria’s North-east region. Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has attributed all his achievements and successes so far to education. Speaking at the Ford Foundation Special Reunion to mark the 80th Anniversary of Ford Foundation in Lagos, the former vice president revealed how his father was imprisoned by local authorities in Adamawa state for refusing to send him to school. https://www.unitednaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Atiku-1-696x478.jpg He said his father tried to stop him from getting formal education because he needed his help in the farm, Leadership ................................................According to him, he would not have been allowed to go to school if the government had not forced his father, adding that could not have acquired an education if his parents were required to pay for it. Atiku said: “My encounter with Peace Corps teachers in the 1960s had a profound impact on my life. It helped to instill in me the virtues of hard work, critical thinking, and commitment to excellence. The teachers encouraged us to develop a ‘can-do’ spirit and never to despair in order to bring out the best in us to enable us to succeed in life. In my young eyes those Peace Corpers represented excellence. They instilled in me a burning desire to look to a wider horizon to have a global outlook. “So, my encounter with the Peace Corps changed my life and education is responsible for the modest success I have achieved thus far. Because of the education I received which was paid for by the Northern Regional Government and local authorities, I was able to rise from a small village in Adamawa to the topmost level of the Nigeria Customs Service.”.................................He noted that his exposure to education taught him how to begin saving and investment at a very early stage in his career. The former vice president maintained that education should be free, accessible and compulsory at the primary and secondary levels. He said this would give every child an opportunity to acquire education irrespective of family circumstances. |
An awkward moment unfolds when two lovers are interrupted having sex -reportedly by the brothers of the man’s wife. http://www.unitednaija.com/2016/09/cheating-husband-busted-brothers-law-sex-woman/ The man has been held to account for allegedly cheating on his wife after he was caught in the middle of having sex with another woman in the front seat of a car. https://www.unitednaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/sex.jpg The shocking footage starts with the man being interrupted by a knock on the window, and he quickly dismounts and pulls up his trousers. Although the video shows the couple being interrupted, there’s no time for embarrassment as the men who caught them at it, reportedly including the wife’s brother-in-law , angrily demand an explanation of what’s going on. The man sits in the car – said to be near Lanzhou in the Gansu Province in Northwest China – and getting himself together, while the woman remains quiet in the passenger seat. Holding what appears to be his wallet and his mobile phone in his hand, he gestures for the men – one of whom seems to be a Chinese policeman whose badge is captured on camera – to walk with him away from the Car |

When Manchester United’s in-house TV channel recapped Paul Pogba’s first spell at the club, the majority of the footage showed him preparing to come on as a substitute in various first-team games. There were also a couple of spectacular goals from his youth-team matches, of course, but the lack of senior action said it all about the Frenchman’s initial Old Trafford experience. On Friday against Southampton, Pogba is finally set to make a first United start less than a fortnight on from his world-record £89.5m return to the club from Juventus. It has been a long time coming, but the 23-year-old will be hoping it proves worthy of the wait. He left United in 2012 as a teenager scorned, later citing Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to overlook him for the home defeat to Blackburn Rovers on New Year’s Eve 2011 as the last straw. Seeing Rafael and Park Ji-Sung chosen ahead of him in midfield stuck in Pogba’s craw, and he needed little persuasion from agent Mino Raiola that a departure from Old Trafford was the best response. His time at Juventus in the intervening period has seen him develop tremendously. He quickly forced his way into Antonio Conte’s first team in Turin, then made a big impact on the international scene after gaining a senior call-up from Didier Deschamps in March 2013. Just nine months after Ferguson had chased him out of Manchester, he was a Juve regular and a France international. https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/GOAL_INTERNATIONAL/13/b6/pogba-blackburn-hd_1i4whokbvai451o5ahs02cdzvb.jpg?t=1429421982 In 2014-15, the Bianconeri peaked with a double-winning campaign and a Champions League final appearance under Massimiliano Allegri. Pogba was one of their key men in the march to Berlin, and with the quality of players like Carlos Tevez, Arturo Vidal, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Pirlo all around him, the former Le Havre youngster revelled at the top table. more@ http://www.unitednaija.com/2016/08/pogba-finally-set-man-utd-stage-deserves/ |
It’s been 20 years since Nigeria’s football team made Olympic history but the memories remain as vivid as yesterday for a nation that, in the midst of misery, remembered what it… There are effectively two eras in Nigerian football: before 1994 and after; the former corresponding to a virtual Dark Age, and the latter, the summer of 1996 especially, to the Renaissance. The promise and excitement of the 1994 World Cup in the USA had been truncated in rather anticlimactic circumstances in the Round of 16 by eventual finalists Italy, leading to the exit of Dutch coach Clemens Westerhof. His assistant stayed on within the set-up though, and two years later, when Nigeria made a return to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, Jo Bonfrere held the reins. Significantly, Nigeria’s team for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta contained more than a few players who had either graced the World Cup or had been within the set-up. Notably Uche Okechukwu, who had taken over captaincy of the senior national side, was drafted into the centre of defence, a concession granted during the Olympics for three players over 23 within each squad. The likes of Sunday Oliseh and Jay-Jay Okocha had also featured, and had been key protagonists in that agonizing extra-time loss to the Italians. Emmanuel Amunike rounded out the veteran complement. There was also a frisson of talent drawn from the U-17 side that had won the World Cup in 1993, and it was from that crop that a legend was born: Nwankwo Kanu, lanky, dainty as a pelican and with a touch like velvet. Wilson Oruma was a fine midfielder, and had finished tournament top scorer in Japan, while left-back Celestine Babayaro proved surprisingly prolific, aiding the cause with two crucial goals at the business end of the Olympics. https://images.performgroup.com/di/library/Goal_Nigeria/88/f4/nwankwo-kanu-of-nigeria-roberto-carlos-of-brazil_1ba59wl3xt5rl1r58w8l71ofi0.jpg?t=1300860470 Full Story @ http://www.unitednaija.com/2016/08/atlanta-96-nigeria-ruled-world/ |
