My neighbor in Nigeria had a high fence, giant gate of about 11 to 12 coaches of blocks as fence around his house, he was at work in lagos, bad boys climbed the fence in the midnight, knocked one of the burglary proof in one of the windows, entered his house, they asked the wife to submit all her gold and valuables, the woman was shivering, with 3kids in the house, the bad boys finally opened the main doors and the central gate for others to come in, completed the robbery and went away majestically, 2 other bigger buildings within the same area were robbed in similar manners, despite the gigantic gate, the criminals still have their ways, one of those that was] robbed now has a huge 2 big German Shepherd for protection, I saw the dogs when I was in Nigeria recently, the security situation in Nigeria is precarious, even with different layers of security, if bad boys are determined to get you, they will, how do you confront more than 20bad boys armed with sophisticated riffles and different instruments? Some robbers even break down your external blocks to enter your apartment, robbers in Nigeria today, go in groups and they take strategic position to encircle their target, may God help us in that country that has no effective security in place

My view is having 5-7coaches then having ur firm railings with good connected barb electric functioning wires.
If at all they manage to still break in others outside the compound I mean neighborhood can see or hear noise one way or the other so affection can b attracted n necessary things done.

God will have mercy on this country.

Architects, Civil Engineers all have what they charge when it comes to building plans.
I don't know anyone in his right senses will want to even debate that or ridicule another.
Do you expect an Architect or Civil Engineer who has put in more than 20years in the profession, a registered fellow in the association,certified in the industry with either seal or stamp etc,etc, to come and charge you #30k for your bungalow design or #80k for your duplex.

Will you go and ask for the services of a SAN and want to pay him chicken change.

If you cannot bargain with your contractor to suit your pocket kindly check for someone else.
Anyone can get good house plans designs for even at the rate of #5k. People have been known to get such from Fiveer and co.

Well said,I love this but charges do depend on how huge the project is n to b precise we don't kw how large d duplex is which made the architect to charge like that.
5bedroom @250k compare to 4bedroom @650k might depend on it's functions, sqm etc...
So,let's understand ourselves.

It good to make block by oneself wen starting a bungalow but on my view I discouraged doing that for duplex or storey buildings. I prefer getting a good mode block from the factory for strength n retainability of bearing the duplex or storey load with adequate columns.
And in place of cornice, it beautifies a design well n it type differs.

Let's share minds on this.

you are fine Sir. What most people does not know is that the exterior wall actually carry's less load that the partition wall in the building itself. The exterior walls usually carry's half the load that sits on it and in some cases, even a quarter of the load. The partition walls in the middle of the house carry direct loads from the roof squarely. Read up on Tributary Areas on columns for more details... Engineering!!!
