Politics / Scam Alert, Bad Losses In Bad Economy by TingSpace: 2:56pm On Oct 19, 2019
…°

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but i would be doing more harm than good if I stay mute about it.
How would it sound to your ears if I should tell you that your email is onsale along with your other private information on the internet.
I can tell you that more than 50% of nairaland users, instagram, twitter users emails, and private information are on sale right on the internet.
Privacy, security is an illusion.

If you doubt me lets go on a little adventure.
If you're an android user open your file manager,
Tap on options or the three vertical or horizontal dots (...)
Tap on show hidden files and folders.
If youre a good hunter your eyes should see some files like .srcmid, sysid.dat, turing.dat etc in the dcim folder or android folder.
IPhone users are not left out, your Apple juices are there.
I don't want to push this post more than I can bear but if you're very adventurous you can scan some files on the dr web online scanner (thats if you can see them).

Do you know that almost all financial security systems in the world has been hacked?
Ofcourse the blockchain technology, hmm.. right now its the most secure technology and also a new system which the U.S plans to adopt into all its government systems and digital processes. It is theoretically the non-hackable system which needs a Quantum supercomputer for it to be hacked, and to which the device is not yet in existence.
Do you know what I believe? "There is nothing in these world that was created by man that can't be spoofed" my fellow app and web developers in the house will agree with me on that.

Now lets come back to Nigeria.
BVN, this is a system that was forced down the throats of Nigerian bank users.
Now heres the information about the BVN that was sold to us.
The BVN is a biometric system used to identify bank users and curb illegal transactions and money theft.

The Benefits

BVN gives a unique identity that can be verified across the Nigerian Banking Industry (not peculiar to one Bank)
Customers Bank Accounts are protected from unauthorized access
It will address issues of identity theft, thus reduce exposure to fraud
The BVN will enhance the Banking Industry chances of being able to fish out blacklisted customers
Reduce queue in Banking Halls
Standardized efficiency of Banking operations
The Customers unique BVN is accepted as a means of identification across ALL Nigerian Banks.

But do you know what? I have read more money theft, unauthorized fund transfers, illegal transactions on the news since the introduction of the system.
I'm not trying to mock or criticize the system because i'm sure its not the only flawed system I can point to.
The U.S social security number is also not very competent in safety of users funds.

Now what am I saying? You should be very very..... safety conscious with your digital life.
But where is the fun in that? If we tend to worry about everything we do, there would be no time to enjoy the precious moments from the gift of life right?

Well, Here's the little precautions we can take.

️ If you use an android, iPhone or laptop computers to do sensitve tasks create two users if not three, one for important tasks and the other for chatting and whatever pleasures you may enjoy but the admin account should be dormant.

Transfer money to the account with ATM when needed.
If possible get a China small phone ( those loud ones without Java support ) do all financial transactions on it and keep the Sim linked to the main account without ATM inside the China phone or at home in Some cases.
Keep your BVN far away from prying eyes.

️ For guys that do most transactions online my advice may be simply complicated.
For laptop users, install a Linux OS on your laptop for safety and perform all transactions on your browser in incognito mode.
If you can't go through the hassle of installing a new OS on your laptop then i would advise you to use Dr Web security software or bitdefender.
And install every possible adblocker plugin for your browser you can ever get your hands on.

Phones / Microsoft AI To You: Company Releases Intelligence Tools For Users by TingSpace: 9:07pm On Sep 25, 2019
'Presenter Coach' uses artificial intelligence to improve users' presentations
It can detect if users say 'uh' or 'um' too many times or should improve their pace
The tool can also flag culturally insensitive or sexist language if it's being used
Microsoft thinks AI can help make your PowerPoint presentation better.

The tech giant is rolling out a new feature in PowerPoint called 'Presenter Coach,' which lets users rehearse their presentation out loud, then uses artificial intelligence to flag areas that could be improved.

It can tell if you're using too many filler words like 'uh,' as well as culturally insensitive language, or might be reading through the slides too quickly.

'For some, the art of delivering an impactful presentation comes naturally, while for others, it can be a stressful experience,' Microsoft said in a statement.

'Today, Microsoft has revealed a whole host of new intelligent AI-powered PowerPoint features which will take your presentations to the next level, including Presenter Coach – a new feature which will train you to improve your presentation and public speaking skills.'

To utilize Presenter Coach, users enter 'rehearsal mode.'

From there, a window will show up on screen that gives tips on how users can improve their presentation.

It gives users real-time feedback, such as a meter that gives guidance on pacing, telling users if they're reading too quickly or too slowly.

Other details it monitors for include 'use of profanity' and filler words.

Presenter Coach can also tell if the presentation utilizes culturally insensitive language and can make use of more inclusive terminology.

For example, if someone uses the phrase 'Best man for the job' in a presentation, the AI guide will flag it and add that the phrase 'might be culturally sensitive in some cases.'

After the user completes their rehearsal, Presenter Coach will provide a detailed report with tips for additional practice.

It'll note how long the user's rehearsal was, their pace, or words per minute, as well as a list of sensitive phrases and filler words they might want to avoid.

Phones / Official: Xiaomi Fans And Users Get Ready! by TingSpace: 8:16pm On Sep 24, 2019
The Chinese company that's made so many news media sell is at it again.
Xiaomi has made a redesign for their custom mobile operating system and has released another version for its users.

Xiaomi’s MIUI is one of the most popular custom Android interfaces available on smartphones, riding on the back of Xiaomi’s insane popularity in Asia. At a launch event in China, where Xiaomi showed off the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha, Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G and the new Mi TV Pro lineup, the company also announced the next version of MIUI — MIUI 11.

MIUI 11 brings several changes to Xiaomi’s UX skin, with most of the work done on the interface and the overall experience. Xiaomi’s changes to this end have won it a Red Dot Design award, which is a first for the company. For this upgrade, Xiaomi is looking to reduce the clutter in its design, and adopting a design language that speaks better to users who are already familiar with Xiaomi’s UX while still being clean and easy to grasp for new users. If you dislike the white interface, do not fret, as you also get Dark Mode as a standard feature for the system.

MIUI 11
MIUI 11
One of the highlights of this update is the use of a new font called MiLan Pro. We had spotted the font in a previous MIUI beta, and Xiaomi has finally officially announced the same for all of its supported devices. The font preview as pulled from the TTF file is as below:

Further, MIUI 11 features a variable thickness slider for the font instead of fixed-step changes, allowing users the freedom to choose the exact thickness for the font that will make the UX the most comfortable for them. Xiaomi is also using bold/thickness as a way to show UI interactions: for example, the Dialer’s number pad will have its associated text rendered thicker when the key is pressed. It’s a small and subtle change but should add to the user experience.

MIUI 11 Always On Display

The next highlighting feature of MIUI 11 is the new Always-On Display (AOD). On supported devices, you can now choose from various animated watch faces which can feature designs and patterns and even animated analog clocks. You can also choose to have static text displayed prominently on the AOD, because why not.

MIUI 11 also brings along a feature that mimics the Horizon Light feature from the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Xiaomi’s Mi MIX lineup was first introduced as a revolutionary product with a nearly bezel-less display. The concept has matured over the generations with the Mi MIX 2 and the Mi MIX 2S. and with the fourth MIX smartphone, Xiaomi is doing something unique and futuristic. The Mi MIX Alpha is another major leap forward for Xiaomi, as it comes with a display that wraps around the edges and continues on to the back. This makes for a two-sided display but without any discontinuity apart from a thin strip for the camera assembly. The Mi MIX Alpha gets a screen-to-body ratio of 180.6%.

Xiaomi Mi Mix AlphaXiaomi Mi Mix Alpha

The “Surround Display” deployed by Xiaomi makes the Mi MIX Alpha a truly futuristic phone, but there’s a lot to qualm about its durability, especially since you cannot use a case with it. The “4D curved” display on the MIX Alpha is a work of art but we may have to wait to see this mature into a commercial device. Clearly, the display beats the waterfall displays that we’ve seen on the devices such as the Vivo NEX 3.

Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha

The Mi MIX Alpha does not have a visible side frame and all of the antennas for the 5G connectivity have been housed within the thin strip. There’s no earpiece either and the smartphone uses ultrasonic vibrations to emulate the earpiece. To keep the Mi MIX Alpha lightweight, Xiaomi is using a titanium alloy for the construction of the smartphone. The bar on the back is made of black ceramic and there’s Sapphire Glass protection over the cameras.

To make up for the lack of buttons, there are pressure-sensitive areas on the sides that function as buttons. These areas can otherwise be used as part of the display. The pressure-sensitive zones can also be used as triggers while gaming. Users will be able to slide a part of the display to increase or decrease the volume.

To prevent accidental touches, Xiaomi’s AI will smartly monitor the orientation of the phone, the accelerometer and use cues from the current app. Xiaomi claims to have mastered palm rejection on this all-screen device, but we’ll wait to see how this works in reality.

The Mi MIX Alpha utilizes the display on the back to run versions of apps like Maps, calculator and more.

Heres the trailer for Mi Max Alpha

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVO5MFOKo7c

The triple camera setup on the phone includes the 108MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX camera sensor that was previously teased by Xiaomi. The camera sensor is four times larger than the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor. It’s a 1/1.33-inch sensor with a pixel size of 1.6 microns. The output 108MP images are of 12032 x 9024 in resolution and come in at nearly 40MB in size. There’s a 20MP ultrawide camera with a 117º field of view and a 12MP depth sensor. There’s no front camera on the phone, since you can simply flip the phone and use the display on the back as your viewfinder. This essentially gives you a 108MP front camera in practice.

Global ride-hailing giant Uber has recently fixed a hacking bug found by Indian cybersecurity researcher Anand Prakash which allowed hackers to log into anyone’s Uber account.

The company has paid Anand $6,500 i.e. about Rs 4.6 lakh as a reward for giving information about this bug.

Anand explained that the bug was an account-takeover-vulnerability on Uber that allowed attackers to take over any other user’s Uber account, including those of partners and Uber Eats users, inc42 reported. As per media report, the bug was present in the API request function of the Uber app.

Phones / Wifi 6 Official Launched Today With Crazy Speed by TingSpace: 8:19pm On Sep 16, 2019
WiFi 6 officially launches today with crazy speed

A number of phones, laptops, routers, and other devices are already shipping with WiFi 6 baked in, promising improved speed, capacity, and power efficiency, among other things.

But we’ll likely see a whole lot more WiFi 6 devices soon, because the WiFi Alliance says the official WiFi 6 certification program goes live starting today.

In a nutshell, that means you’ll start to see a WiFi 6 Certified logo on a growing number of products that feature support for the latest WiFi standard, also known as 802.11ax.

The Alliance says WiFi 6 offers almost 4x the capacity of WiFi 5 (802.11ac), speeds that are around 30-percent faster when it comes to real-world performance (theoretically top speeds are actually almost 3x higher), and support for better performance on busy networks, plus support for WPA3 security.

According to the Alliance, the first WiFi 6 certified smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10. But other phones, including the iPhone 11 which is set to hit the streets this Friday, also support the latest standard.

Of course, none of that matters unless you have a new router that also supports WiFi 6. Those have been rolling out in recent months as well, but odds are most folks aren’t going to upgrade until their existing router dies.

How would you like to experience the speed of wifi 6?

iOS 13 exploit bypasses the lockscreen for access to contacts
Security flaw should be fixed in iOS 13.1

By Tom Warren on September 13, 2019 6:45 am

Apple is planning to release iOS 13 next week, but one security researcher has already discovered a lockscreen bypass. The exploit allows you to bypass the lockscreen and gain access to all contact information on an iPhone. Jose Rodriguez discovered the exploit and revealed to The Verge that he reported it to Apple on July 17th, but it’s still working in the Gold Master (GM) version of iOS 13 that will be released on September 19th.

Rodriguez discovered a lockscreen exploit last year for iOS 12.1, and this latest iOS 13 bypass uses a similar technique. It involves activating a FaceTime call and then accessing the voiceover feature from Siri to enable access to the contact list. You can then obtain email addresses, phone numbers, address information, and more from the list of contacts.

VOICEOVER IS THE KEY TO THE EXPLOIT
The Verge has tested and confirmed that the bypass procedure works on the iOS 13 GM running on an iPhone X. You’re not able to access photos, though. Naturally, this requires physical access to an iPhone, and some time to initiate a FaceTime call and enable voiceover.

Rodriguez says the exploit appears to be fixed in beta copies of iOS 13.1, which Apple is planning to make available on September 30th.

This is the latest in a long line of lockscreen bypass bugs for iOS. A bug in iOS 6.1 back in 2013 allowed attackers to access phone records, contact information and even photos. iOS 7 also included a similar security hole, you could bypass the iOS 8.1 lockscreen, and iOS 12.1 also had issues.

If you are feeling unhappy in your life right now and you’re thinking that money will solve your
problems, it's time for a reality check! I won’t deny that having material abundance can make
our lives a little easier.
Believe me, I’m all too aware of what it’s like to struggle to pay the bills, or feel like you’re living on the edge of a cliff and the ground is crumbling beneath your feet.

I know the terror of worrying whether the electricity will be shut off for nonpayment, or wondering if you’ll be able to afford to buy groceries this week.

I’m not trying to minimize these types of struggles – but I want you to be clear that having a lot
of money will not automatically make you feel happy and content in your life.

Money can definitely help us to enjoy a greater quality of life, but only if we have a healthy
attitude toward money; otherwise it will just add bigger burdens.

This series are delivered on weekend basis so i'd like you to engage yourselves with happy and joyful activities these weekend.

Happiness is Free!!

Happiness: Cause or Effect?

Are you happy with your life the way it is now? There are probably aspects of your life you’d
like to change, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading these. But overall, can you say you’re
truly happy? Most of us can’t, but it’s not because we’re still seeking success. Rather, we aren’t
happy because we haven’t made the choice to be happy.
When we think of being successful, we imagine that happiness is an inevitable side effect.

We may envision ourselves with the perfect job, the perfect mate, the perfect children, the perfect
level of income, the perfect home, the perfect car, etc. And we believe that all of that stuff will
make us happy.

However, that view is skewed. Material objects and other people cannot make us happy – only
we can make ourselves happy. And it all begins with a choice to be happy.

You probably don’t believe that, especially if you are
experiencing challenges or lack in your life right now. But think
about this: why do rich people still experience unhappiness?
Why do successful people still experience unhappiness? Because
money and success do not automatically create happiness!

Before everything else,
getting ready is the
secret of success.
- Henry Ford

Neither do power, status, romance, or material objects. We
simply believe they do because we are looking outside of
ourselves for the solution to our problems.

The Truth About Money and Happiness
Intellectually, we may know that money can’t buy happiness, but some part of us still believes
that we’d feel better if we were rich. Yet when we really look at wealthy people, we must
wonder if they are any happier than the average person. Do wealthy people laugh more,
experience more joy, or have greater fulfillment in their lives? Perhaps some do – but how much
of it is a direct result of their wealth?

In fact, you can probably point to a handful of wealthy people that appear to be completely
miserable. Not surprisingly, some people seem to become less satisfied the wealthier they
become! Perhaps they were under the misconception that money would solve all their problems,
or having a large amount of money brought along its own challenges. I’m sure you’ve heard the
horror stories about people who win the lottery or come into a large sum of money through an
inheritance or other means. Many of them experience a few years of heartache and struggle, and
end up flat broke again. Money didn’t solve their problems – only made them worse!

Another reason why wealth can make us miserable is that it distracts us from what is truly
important for a happy and fulfilling life. We find ourselves focusing more and more on material
objects and end up feeling disconnected from our inner selves.
