I'm sure you know that admitting crap students will affect their ranking on the league table. I'd hate to think that the top 15 unis in England will accept students just for their money rather than their ability to perform well and fly the institution's flag.

May I add that, I work for the health service but not in a clinical role. I'd like to believe that reason 2 i quoted above is also valid. I know you're sticking to and with reason 3 but that doesn't apply in all cases. Having said that, education(al) providers don't run a charity ;d. They're offering a servicer (per say).

So most likely, number 3 is the only reason they are admitting you. Reason 1 is hogwash in my view.

If that's how you feel, that's fine. I don't think so, neither do I believe so. At the end of the day, I wrote a proposal and had an interview with my prospective supervisors. I believe that as professionaLs/specialists in their areas of interest, if they didn't see the potential in me to contribute something significant to the research community, they wouldn't have made the offer (Phd).

Speaking of Public health here in England, you can apply whether you have a clinical background or not. And if you know about Public Health and Epidemiology, you'll know it involves a lot of statistics (lots and lots of data) relating to medical type stuff. At the end of the day, if you're good in maths and statistics with a functioning brain able to remember all the medical terms, you'll be fine.

Ajalenkoko- Oh, and by the way, there are healthcare related admin or management courses offered to people who have foundation medical degrees. Like the master in public health, and in medical administration. I'd be surprised if they allow you to study for those degrees with any bachelor's degree.

I'm sorry but the bolded bit is where you're wrong. I've got a BSc in Computer Science and I've been offered a place at Warwick to study for a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) and I also have a PhD offer in Health Policy. Need I say that I already have a Masters in Business Management so your health background theory is again wrong. At the end of the day, what the admissions committee is looking for are 1) your enthusiasm to learn, 2) your previous experience in the field of study or related and 3)your money .

P.S. I have no clinical experience whatsoever.

Thanks Bendazum. You're the only one that took time out to read the posts. I didn't start out dissing folks. I just didn't think Mr Everest should diss someone who typed curse instead of course. It could have been a typo or possibly how that person thinks it should be spelt seeing as Cause,Course and curse are often mispronounced in naija. If Mr Everest types tym instead of time, seing instead of seeing then I don't think he has a right to diss the one who wrote curse instead of course.

I misspelt a word which I said was a mistake. Did I go on to justify my mistake by saying it was an abbreviation or that the keypad on my phone is mes.s.ed up or that I was browsing from my phone etc (the usual silly excuses people use to justify their bad spellings etc)? I won't say things like that because they're cheap excuses.

A make bold to state here that am not a graduate of any sort___ neither am I a student of any university____i've never seen any class room of any institution.Don't think am washing my dirty lening in public___the fact still stand.
Not many of u here graduate can put things inorder(grammerticaly sound),many of u here are half baked and unsong student though Nairaland are parading the best brain(intellectuals) in naija,___and am taping from u guys.

The secret of my little sucess(educationaly) is my ability to read any book that my hand could lay on.

Do u know that i do challenge most of university guys around.

Its four letters and it won't hurt you to spell correctly. "Seing" as you typed it is one letter short of the correct spelling, you could have just typed the right thing.

I really don't get it when you "graduates" type in "short forms" like that, I find it unappealing to the eyes and quite frankly doesn't portray you in a positive light (my opinion).

Sorry to say, you don't spell or write any better than Mr Curse. There's nothing like tym in the dictionary except you're referring to the spice called thyme in that case it would be out of context in your post quoted above. Here in England you're admitted to study for a PhD in 3 years... It might be possible to do it in less time if one started the research work at Masters level( which usually lasts a minimum of 1 year)... so lets say her PhD research was a continuation of what she did for her Masters, it would be possible to complete the write up and all in 2 years.

P.s
first year of Ph.D. here in England is spent gathering data, taking MSc modules that are relevant to the research work e.g. research methods, statistical packages (spss, stata, anova etc)-(ungraded), attending seminars and writing your proposal
second year: more literature work, attending more seminars, viva
third year: write up.

so it is possible.
