Politics › Police Detain Danfulani Over Facebook Comment by TippyTop(op): 12:39pm On Jan 29, 2016 |
By Isaiah Benjamin Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Mallam Umar Shehu today ordered the detention of Dr. John Danfulani, a critic of the government of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, over an alleged Facebook comment, which the Police said was capable of inciting crisis.
The Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Professor William Qurix had suspended Dr. Danfulani on the 8th of January, over the said commend, which is yet to be made public.
Danfulani had addressed a press conference in Kaduna in August last year under the banner of Centrum Initiative for Development and Fundamental Rights, CENTRUM, in which he described el-Rufai as being "high handed and unfair" to citizens of the state.
He has also kicked against what he said was the "unjust massacre" of Nigeria Shiite after a bloody encounter between the Nigeria Army and the Shiite left scores dead last December in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The Police had written Qurix to produce Danfulani on the 21st of January in a letter with reference - CR: 3000/KDS/X/D6/Vol.82/150 signed ACP Umar Kofar-Niasa. http://allafrica.com/stories/201601290731.html |

Politics › Re: "The Economist" Accuses Buhari Of Worsening Nigeria's Economy by TippyTop(m): 12:12am On Jan 29, 2016 |
Frustratingly, this crunch is one that Nigeria has been through before—under the then youthful Mr Buhari. Then, as now, he refused to let the market set the value of the currency. Instead he shut out imports, causing the legal import trade to fall by almost 50% and killing much of Nigeria’s nascent industry in the process. Between 1980 and 1990, carmaking fell by almost 90%. Today, as in the 1980s, the president is making a bad situation worse. Buhari have been doing everything possible to kill the Nigerian economy since 1983. |

[s] HopeAtHand: I saw Tonyebarcanista Maritime-university-own-goal thread. I purposely kept mute on that matter because someone musnt indulge in every argument. But you brought it up again.
The Maritime university deserves to be cancelled. If Akpobolokemi found it wise enough to present foundation level structures as the only structures in NMU after over N13Billion spent on the institution then we will gladly help him frustrate it. It is cancelled and remains cancelled. If they really had the interest of NDeltans at heart then they shouldn't have diverted the money for themselves.
Who in this world is happy to spend money allover again for something already budgeted due to wastefulness arising from embezzlement of funds. Even a Dad may not willingly replace a choice item destroyed by his child.
If Akpobolokemi had done what was expected of someone who loved his people, we would have held Amaechi accountable. You cant blame him, resources are scarce, opportunity cost dictates that NMA Oron be upgraded and its scope expanded. And when next NMU is planned, Delta state is off the equation because they had their time and messed it up.
Anyone not comfortable with the decision can do his worst. No shaking. [/s] You can't be from the ND, whilst other regions fight to use our resources you're here insisting the status quo be maintained. Do a DNA bro, you definitely not one of us. |
