Basseti: Thats a point that need not to be over looked. Too much bickering btw the two tribes on who is better in what. However, if the rivalry is healthy and devoid of any violence, then it might actually work out well as each region will be trying to out compete the other. If not, then I see another division on the way.
That has been proposed time and time again. I actually think it is a good idea. However, will the North go along with that idea? The prevailing idea is that the North depends heavily on the south for economic stimulus. If the North goes along with the idea of state controlled resources, then that might lay the allegation of over dependence on oil money to rest. The North need's to realize its a proper Fed govt or else, the status quo needs to change. We can't remain like this forever because its not working. The only viable alternative to keep Nigeria one is for states to control their resources. |

2mch: Into 6 countries. No southern Nigeria. After all we have a fair share of the people causing problems in the country today in the South. It would be another 38 years of fighting and further splitting. So 6 countries it is. No way my friend Edo state would want a country of their own, ehhh so will the Tiv nation, the Berons, Idomas, Urobos'Itsekiris, the ______ add your tribe. We may end up with at least 250 countries. Niceeeee
Sorry but there is widespread consensus that no one wants the North.
Where did you hold this referendum? And why must a break up of this nation turn to war. There is widespread consensus that Southern Nigeria does not want to be in union with Northern Nigeria. We have the education, oil, world wide exposure and our economy is much stronger than the North.
I must say the Yorubas would not like to be in the same union with Igbos and what of the southern/northern minority tribe? The solution I think would be to have a proper Federal govt that's not too strong at the centre and resource control by states. |

It is no longer funny. 38 years of believing in one Nigeria, and this is what we get. Intimidation? No way. You must speak to the violent man in the language he understands. J12: I perfectly understand and I also believe splitting the country would good. But I believe a change in governmental system would be the best solution.
Let me ask you something: Which country should Abuja go to if we split? Thank you ja re. Becareful what you wish for, thats what am saying. How can we divide without a monumental war. Igbos tried it and it led to 3years of wanton destruction on both sides. Am also pissed off with the likes of Eze uche and the rest of the internet warrior movement. Ivynwa: Why mustn't we divide, what are we holding on to? A people(that a greater number of them) only have hates for others. Should we keep our arms akimbo and watch them kill us all? Go on warrior let the war begin. You're a dolt if you think I come from the North. kulutempa: Well, the current state of things is not exactly what I would call peaceful. As to the minority problem why should there be any agitation if their views and preferences are considered and taken into account at the outset. BTW what do you mean by "true federalism with a soft centre"? Its not exactly peaceful but we're not at war. A "true federalism" will herald resource control by individual states. A soft centre in this case will be a president that controls only the army, foreign policy etc on behalf of the "states" |

bamosagie: @ Tippy Top why are you so scared of seperating the south from the north, your people dont like southerners but they dont have problem being in the same country with them because of oil money. you people would rather kill southern infidels each time you have a cause to be angry but you want one nigeria so you can develope your region with resources from the south, sorry to dissapoint you, things are changing and changing fast, if you people like blow things up with the hope that military will take over, kill more people; soon, very soon, the southerners will speak, and you all will hear. How did you come to the conclution I was from the "north". chamber2: why did you choose to ask this question here and why do you think I am the best person to answer you? Hehehe!!! kulutempa: The partition may not have brought perfect peace but it separated the majority Hindu and Muslim populations and kept them from tearing each other apart. Although India still has a sizeable number of Moslems there were given the option of relocating to Pakistan at Independence but they chose to stay in India. In my view the partition was a practical step, not a perfect one. Partition would be a violent route for us to take because of the resultant consequences (e.g minority agitation for independence also). I'd advocate true Federalism with a soft centre. roselex: @chamber pls i need your advice can i use niit cert to work i have my ssce result i presently work with an isp but i need to further because i have diploma You're asking a dolt for advice? kulutempa: It looks like it is now time to start exploring the default option: Partition of Nigeria along religious lines. This was in fact the political outcome of two strategic British ex colonies when they got independence - India and Palestine in 1947
Partition of India into India and Pakistan in 1947
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partition_of_India The partition of India did not bring the desired peace, Pakistan broke away from Indian and Bangladesh broke away from Pakistan. There are minority all over the federation, where are these people suppose to go? India still has a sizable number of Moslems and Christians even now. We should advocate true Federalism. |
