Hi man, just seeing this....been busy.
To retarget the animation there are several options, but the first step is to ensure both rigs follow the same naming convention.

Maya has a format for naming the bones in the rig and u have to make sure both characters follow the format or u create a custom template for them.
That's ur first step. I suggest u read up on retargeting using HumanIK in maya.
If ur rig isn't based on HumanIk, then it gets a bit complicated tho.

Confirm the nature of ur rig. Are both rigs similar?

no, they are not similar. I already read about retargeting and its true it can't work with rigs that are not similar. but I was given an option of using 'atools' which I will download today. if it fails, then I will have to reanimate from scratch. Chai

I have an already animated character, then I have another character with a different rig , height etc.
I actually want to transfer the animation on the first character to the second character. I don't want to start animating it from scratch again since they would be doing the same thing.
I have tried exporting the .anim and .atom method, but its not working.
what other wayS would u advice I try? thanks

u probably hit the xray button in error.
Refer to attached diagram.

U can access it either thru the shortcut icon (highlighted in yellow) or thru the shading menu.

I was animating a lady jumping a wall this morning and suddenly all my models went transparent and blurry. I don't know exactly what I did wrong. please animators, I need your suggestions.... its not easy getting to this stage. thanks.

good afternoon, as a newest bie in prog(ramming, I read through this thread and I discovered most people that the starting point is to learn HTML and CSS . I have done that and I can make webpages now. thanks to you guys,sololearn and Jon duckett.

however, I am still confused on the language to learn. I certainly know that I don't want to go into web develpment and design. that's you I don't want to further into JavaScript and php.

thanks sir I will head to blendguru thou I realize now that the tutorial at CG cookie are good but they won't allow one download introduction to mesh it's free if u are streaming it but to download they want a fee for it and we all know that learning it require u pausing the video all the time and sometimes even rewinding to get the scope
anyone with idea of how i can download it ? save from net will not work

install dwhelper plugin on Firefox. it will detect d video and can download or video with it.
