Gbagura: I don't know why leaders of thoughts in igbo land hasn't call Kanu to order. How dare him insult a gentleman like òbí of onitsha? Onitsha people should treat his f'up big time. Òbí of onitsha is an honorable man that shouldn't be allowed to be molested by that demented bastard hiding in London.
What exactly does Kanu do for a living? Hasn't any ipob miscreant deem it fit to ask this pertinent question? Biafra is a noble cause but I can bet you that no reasonable world leader would ever listen to Kanu or grant him any of his wishes. Anyone can actualize Biafra but not that nonsense Kanu.

Politics › Re: Doyin Okupe: North Has Not Forgiven Igbos For Killing Sardauna Of Sokoto by tishbite41(m): 12:40pm On Mar 21, 2021 |
Deadlytruth: Apart from Ahmadu Bello making himself very clear in that interview that his Northernization policy was for the Northern Region alone and not for the entire Nigeria, common sense dictated that under the highly decentralized extant structure of those times it wasn't just going to be possible for any individual from one particular region, be he the prime minister or a premier, to impose a particular policy on the entire country unlike the way it has become today courtesy of the unitary system imposed on us by an Igbo army officer who got to power through the back door which he opened with the barrel of a gun. So if Igbos felt that Ahmadu Bello's Northernization policy was negativity affecting those of them resident in the North back then, then the next thing would have been to relocate back home to their Eastern Region and encourage their own premier too to commence Easternization policy for the Eastern Region. And come to think of it, didn't Ahmadu Bello ask the British journalist in that interview if any graduate of Northern origin was employed in either the Eastern or Western public service and he could not give an affirmative answer in all honesty? So it means every regional premier back then was doing exactly what they were accusing Ahmadu Bello of doing just because Ahmadu Bello wasn't pretending about his but was bold and candid enough to admit it before the public glare. hypocrite. A Fulani was mayor of Enugu. Can you beat that? |

Tobrasky: The true making of greatness is decided when people can fight against oppression and yet practice a civilized system of republicanism without sheepishly following some barbaric "emperor" around. There's a reason why the Igbos are celebrated today globally (especially in the USA, Carribeans, and parts of South America and Europe) were trans-athlantic slavery were most prominent. The most popular slave rebellions and leaders who led uprisings to usurp the slave ships, plantations etc and wipe out the white slave masters were mostly Igbo or were of Igbo origin... the most successful slave rebellion in black history ( Haiti revolution) were instigated and led by many Igbo self-liberated slaves. The Bussa rebellion in today's Barbados which is the largest uprising in Barbadian history was led by a freed slave by name of Bussa (who was of Igbo heritage)... needless to mention the much celebrated Igbo landing which has become a source of pop culture and renaissance in the fabric of black consciousness across the United States. Where I'm I going with all of this? it's quite simple, Igbos hate oppression, we're not a sheepish people who bow down to just any man, you've got to earn that leadership and trust by your proven records and qualities. The greatest black abolitionist today is Igbo (Olaudah Equiano).
Igbos didn't need an empire to produce beautiful artworks like Igbo Ukwu. Igbo-Ukwu is notable for three archaeological sites, where excavations have found bronze artifacts from a highly sophisticated bronze metal-working culture dating to 9th century AD, centuries before other known bronzes of the region.
We didn't need an empire to resist the British colonial forces for 34 years in the Ekumeku war fought by the Western Igbos and their Aro allies... today the Ekumeku resistance has become the blueprint of research into African resistance against colonialism in many British libraries and research institutes today.
We didn't need an empire to have a powerful theocratic civilization in the Nri kingdom, and without war and subjugation the Nri civilization had a greater sphere of impact on most so called empires like the Benin kingdom etc.
Meanwhile the Oyo empire was once sacked by the Nupe and Fulani alike, under the very watch of the Oyo empire Ilorin fell to the Fulani, and the status quo remains the same till date. The so called empire also failed to stop the yorubas from butchering each other for years in the Kiriji wars, so much that the yorubas had to beg British to come colonize them after they had become so disorganized and vulnerable.
The Benin kingdom abi "empire" fell to the British forces in just 2 days or so of fighting with all their artifacts plundered and looted, and the their King sent into exile where he lived out the rest of his days.
Essentially the only effective empire in Nigeria was the Karnem-Bornu empire, then at large the British empire of modern times remains the greatest and most significant empire... of course we had other great empires like the Songhai, Mali, Kingdom of Aksum, Ethiopia etc classic |

thebosstrevor1: There was no democracy in old igbo land.
There were different unorganised igbo clans scattered in many places. That is why monarchy system couldn't take place.
Every organised civilization had a monarchy, even the Egyptians had a monarchy, the greek had one etc.
In the igbo culture, The head of the house or the clan was the sole ruler( dictator)
No election was ever organised in old igbo land even till today, no election is held when selecting a clan leader, it is mostly by senority. pure lies. We had the 'umunnas'. Read well. |
