P.S. With the right lubricants, you will only have to perform routine oil changes on your vehicle once the correct mileage has been reached, or once the appropriate time interval (usually in months) has passed. Definitely not every two weeks or every month? like a couple of posters suggested earlier in the thread.
noted..thanks a million... I'll be keeping In touch with you, seems you're experienced in this biz

Revealing thread. A lot of useful points.

It is interesting though, how Nigerians have accepted some 'fees' undecided as unavoidable costs of doing business. There is no reason for legitimate business men and transporters to pay so-called park dues, union dues, NARTO/NURTW levies/dues, police settlement fees etc. - and get nothing in return.

Easy come, easy go. I have seen with my own eyes, NURTW 'officials' undecided getting drunk at 11am on a weekday. And why wouldn't they? Its 'free money". These same NURTW loafers are also the errand boys of the degenerate politicians we venerate - the politicians use them to to their dirty jobs and then 'empower' them for services rendered. The Lagos NURTW is a shining example of this.

But they do these things because we let them...

Thanks2God:
Am into the business.

Its actually lucrative but not lucrative as u have predicted.

There are two mode of doing transport business.

1. Running line(picking passenger along the road)
2. Loading in a park.

Both have the advantage and disadvantages

Running line :
You need a conductor services
You make more money
Your engine dies quicker
The passengers u may carry may not be able to Carter for for the fuel.

Loading in park:
u will load wen its ur turn.
Your motor gets full before u leave.
Park charges higher amount from passenger
You may not need a conductor

Lucrstive but very risky and stressful
interesting analysis, so which one will you prefer? Park or running line? And why would you choose it specially over the other

Lol everybody is just saying it is lucrative. Bros when you start, you go know how far.

That shiit is not easy. My uncle owns Libra Motors and I know how long it took him to start making profit and build his business to this stage...
like how long did it take him?

While considering the gains you also need to consider running costs; car maintenance, fuel, Union money, government monies, agbero money and emergencies.

As for bad drivers one good thing about them is they are not innovative, most of their mischief is a closed set, know them all and have counter moves set up.
nice... Thanks bro smiley

okay make I follow put mouth since I am also into it.

That figure u quote up there is good and easy to write on the paper but reverse is the case In reality. grin

Transportation business is very lucrative and a slow blood money when u have a good driver or u drive it yourself.

Buy a good tokunbo bus and not Nigeria use if u don't want stories from your driver. since u ply east...... I think they use hummer bus there but if u can go for Mazda bus (18 passenger) u will thank me later in future cos it's cheaper, strong and easy to maintain. wink

I don't know the daily payment in PH but here in Lagos, 18 passenger bus pay 7-8k per day so we make roughly 40k+ per week per bus. Saturday is excluded for general check up of the vehicles and maintainance.

Be ready to be tough on your drivers if not, they will buy their own bus from your bus and give u stories everyday. embarassed
what? 7-8k per day is too much, what exactly are we paying for shocked

Nice calculation out there cheesy cheesy cheesy. If that is how the interstate transportation is very lucrative , I for don flood the business with 6buses for a start.

CORRECTION.

From Port Harcourt to Yenagoa via bus is N500 along the road & park is N700 but many masses prefer along the road because of sharp sharp movement.

Union ticket per a Trip is N1000 whether you load from park or along the road.

Minimum fuel cost per trip is N1500.

Conductor fees per day should be around N1500/2500.

Checking point joint is 4 during daylight & 5 during night which translate to total sum of N500 to oga police pocket lipsrsealed

So total expenses per trip will be around N3000/N3500.

So from my analysis , your profit margin should be N20000/N25000 that gives you N600k/750k per month. Then reserve at list N50k/60k for monthly maintenance.

Lastly your net profit margin per month should be around N550k / 700k.

Sir later make I face my white rice with fresh fish pepper soup dinner grin
hehehe... I like your realist approach sha...but I think at mile one park p.h to Yenagoa is 1k ...I've been paying that amount for sometime now.

It's a lucrative biz I can assure you but only when you are actively involved in it otherwise you may end up opening a biz for your driver and at end not getting any thing in return.

Firstly, you have to go back and research on the model of Toyota bus to buy. There are type of engines that Toyota bus come with and there are ones that are transport friendly and cheap to maintain.

Secondly, check if their is any model that is more fuel economy because fuel economy is the bedrock of transportation.

Thirdly, check the number of trips those that are already in the biz cover per day. Also check the passengers turnout on the route.

Fourthly, check the total overhead expenses per trip because in Lagos for example, if you load your bus in a park, you may end up leaving the park with 2/3 of the total passengers money before you talk of fuel and other settlements on the way like police because I know that there are so many police check points along that route

Lastly, check the state of the road.

All these has to be thoroughly investigated because a single mistake will ruin the biz.

But if you have Uber in PH, it's better you use the money and buy two cars .

Drive one and give one out to a driver.

#100k is guaranteed every week.

I am assuring you that and you will still look clean like a banker.
wow... You seem very enlightened in this line of business... How can i contact you.

Death trap roads will destroy your vehicle in no time,no matter how careful you are. Coupled with unruly traffic regulations, policing and touting.

Nigerian infrastructures, mindsets and policies are too primitive for the 21st century vehicular activities.
yeah..thats why I chose to ply from port-Harcourt to bayelsa at least the roads are fairly manageable there.

The Nigerian system is really not encouraging sad

Guy let me put it clear to you, you are just building castle in the air. Yes, it's #1000 per persenger from Bayelsa to PH but you should understand that your bus will not be the only one on the route, when you get to the park you will see other drivers already on queue waiting to load, and for now if you manage to load one trip to PH and back you will thank your God. Moreover, immediately you load your bus in the park you are to pay commission to the park management, that is if you load #15000 you will pay not less than #3k and also pay some money to the touts that help you to shadow the bus and pay for local and state tickets before you will be allow to leave the park. If you don't pay when you return your bus will be impounded and fine paid before you will get your bus.
In conclusion, apart from the loading from the park there other busses that pick passengers along the road that also make it difficult to get enough passengers in the park. So do a thorough research and look before you leap. Thank you
Also what exactly am I paying the touts and agberos for...i thought my business is only with the park workers?
