Travel › Re: My Ordeal With Thai Embassy And My Trip To Singapore by titane: 8:02am On Jul 03, 2016 |
JayJustus: aye aye Nairaland!!!!!! sooooooo lemme start my story from here.
I study Hospitality Management in Malaysia under a UK university and every year we have a trip somewhere to do some research stuff. Year 1 is a local trip within Msia while year 2 and 3 is an international trip. So for my year 2 trip my lecturers decided it was gonna be thailand...na so fear grip me small as you know Nigerians and Thailand...ehen I know if you're vast with south east asia and nigerians you'd grab...but still I was confident cos one nigerian girl went with the school to the same thailand last year so I assumed they have relieved all those nonsense they were putting on Nigerians as a whole. Soooooooooo we went to the embassy and for this trip we're only three africans...one ugandan girl and two nigerian guys (me and my friend)...so our lecturers applied while we waited outside then they came out and told the rest that theirs was successful and they will come get their passports the next day with the sticker on em but that for us nigerians they asked us to go get "LETTER OF GOOD CONDUCT" from ministry of foreign affairs... sharpalay I looked it up and discovered it was in another state...so my teacher said we should go...sharply we took mad ass train and bus to some desert like this and kaboom you start seeing government houses popping outta no where like RKO from no where (randy orton)...we went to the office first thing we saw was "LETTER OF GOOD CONDUCT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED FOR NOW...ONLY MANUAL APPLICATIONS CAN BE PROCESSED NOW DUE TO SYSTEM CRASH"... that day was monday ehhhh...we're supposed to leave for thailand on sunday morning and application for visa is one working day so the last day is basically thursday ehhh...so as we were there contemplating we just kukuma applied for it thinking that we'd beg them that we need it by thursday maybe luck will shine on us the woman at the counter said "ehhhh this will take at least one month" and then my friend had already fainted inside...I was still pushing...I was now like "isn't it possible that one of the officers can just give a handwritten letter or even a note with his stamp and signature?" she's like no...i'm like lemme see one of your officers and talk him through maybe maybe you know...then I released my regular attraction charm that gets Malaysians...I started blowing malay for her then some of the officers there became interested...my friend thought I had found a breakthrough,...pshhhh...still still didn't work...so I called my lecturers and they were like we'd take the form we filled with the acceptance stamp from the ministry plus a photo evidence that the website is down and all...Thai embassy said NO...that rather than that we should go to Nigerian embassy and tell them to write letter that we are in good standing and have not commited any crime/ they can vouch for us that we will not do anything wrong..unluckily it was past 11am and nigerian embassy doesnt accept applications after tuesday 11pm...gobe my friend said...I now told our lecturer to call the ministry herself...she called, they even gave her a direct line of one of the issuing officers...so we hoped and hoped... pshhhhh...the nigga said he can't write it and all and all...so i'm like how will I pass this course ehhh...my friend now gave his work to his friends going on the trip...me don't trust these my classmates they'd purposely eff me over...
soooooo the next day which was wednesday I vexed, by faith booked flight to singapore...lol...booked my hotel...and then after class dashed off to the visa centre dropped off my stuff...applied very late so my application only went in on thursday...by monday my e-visa was out. Singapore is visa free to over 80% of the world but in 2010 it was closed for nigerians cos of erhhh..but glad we're in assessment level 1... the ones in assessment level 2 like bangladesh, egypt, morocco, algeria, pakistan and all...so these ones have to get a visa sticker but level one is by e-visa... just a paper like that...so thats how I did and I am typing to you from the hostel I booked...but funny thing is that when I got to the immigration the woman on duty asked me how old I am since i look very small and my voice is too woman-ish...i'm like 20 and all...she's like you're traveling all alone, i'm like yeah.. in my mind i was like "thank God for S'pore i would have lost almost 30% for that subject..." then she stamps me in then calls another ICA guy and that one starts asking me questions ooooo...cos I remember last two years or so one guy I knw was bounced back...cos I noticed I was the only one that was questioned after the regular questioning at the counter...he asked for my school ID, wrote down my schools name and all and all...I came prepared...hehehhehe... so screw thailand for now...Nigerians have messed up the image there totally and I hope they would not bring us to assessment level two...yawa will gas oooo...anyway I bet not cos we're edging closer and our passport is getting stronger... so my advice is that wherever we go let's respect that green passport and not for your own selfish reason you kacau other people (kacau in malay means like to put sand in another mans garri)...you do nonsesne every other good citizen bears the trouble while you're languishing behind bars...so I'd be posting picshureeeeeeeessss once i'm done with this homework here...cheers... you are feminine, so obvious with the way you type. real guys don't use the expression (....I was like... ). just go and trangender already Biko |
