Zimbabwean President, Emmerson Mnangagwa survived a blast at a ruling ZANU-PF party rally Saturday. The President has been taken to safety after the incident. According to the President's spokesperson "The president was evacuated successfully, he says the President is at the statehouse in Bulawayo. The spokesperson says suspicion is rife as the explosion was certainly close to the VVIP stage.

President Buhari spoke with the SuperEagles of Nigeria this evening, ahead of their opening World Cup match against Croatia; and assured them of the full support of the nation.

This photo of a man allegedly buried inside an exortic car has been trending on social media.

Report has it that a man from Anambra State in the Eastern part of Nigeria was buried in a N32million worth of BMW which was bought by his rich son who wanted to give his father a befitting burial.

The picture which had gone viral has sparked a debate amongst social media users with almost everyone condemning the act.

One of the commenters however revealed that the picture was from a scene in a movie.

Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu has officially declared his interest to run for a senatorial election come 2019 under the ruling party, APC.

He made his intention known to the Nigerians by releasing his campaign Poster on his official social media media platform.

For the past 18 years, Nigerians have been celebrating May 29th, as Democracy Day. That was the date when for the second time in our history, an elected civilian administration took over from a military government. The first time this happened was on October 21st, 1979.

But in the view of Nigerians, as shared by this administration, June 12th, 1993, was far more symbolic of Democracy in the Nigerian context that May 29th or even the October 1st.

June 12th, 1993 was the day when Nigerians in millions expressed their Democratic will in what was undisputed the freest, Fairest and more peaceful elections since our Independence. The fact that the outcome of that election was not upheld by the then military Government does not distract from the democratic credentials of that process.

Accordingly, after due consultations, the Federal Government has decided that henceforth, June 12th will be celebrated as Democracy Day. Therefor, Government has decided to award posthumously the highest honour of the land, GCFR, to late Chief MKO Abiola, The presumed winner of the June 12th 1993 cancelled elections.

His running mate as Vice President, Ambassador Bab Gana Kingibe, is also to be invested with a GCON. Furthermore, the tireless fighter for human rights and the actualization of the June 12th elections and indeed for demo0crcy in general, the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi is to be awarded posthumously a GCON.

The commemoration and investiture will take place on Tuesday June 12th, 2018, a date which in future years will replace May 29th as the National Public Holiday in celebration Of Nigeria Democracy Day.

The Nigerian Police has given the Senate President Bukola Saraki 48 hours to put in writing the allegations leveled against him by the 5 out 22 Offa robbery suspects.

This was made known to the Public by Bukola Saraki in a series of tweets he made this evening. According him the police are no longer asking him to appear at any station.

President, Dangote Groups and Chairman, Aliko Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has revealed that he does not only want to be known as Africa’s richest man but the biggest philanthropist in the continent.

Dangote vowed to continue to use his resources to help shape a better Nigeria and Africa, as a whole.

He stated this, in Lafia, yesterday, during the launch/disbursement of N130 million donation to 13,000 vulnerable women in Nasarawa by the Aliko Dangote Foundation Micro Grant Programme.

“I do not only want to be known as Africa richest man but the biggest philanthropist in Africa. I will continue to use my resources to help shape a better Nigeria and Africa, as a whole.”

Jolly Nyame, a former governor of Taraba State and clergyman, has been sentenced to a total of 28 years in prison, 14 years of which was for criminal breach of trust.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has confirmed that the 2018 Appropriation Bill will be presented to President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

Another Drama!, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Maiwanka, a member of the Gombe State House of Assembly, has taken away the mace.

Maiwanka who is a member of APC representing Akko West constituency, went to the table while the house was on plenary and took away the mace.

According to staff of the Assembly ''Abubakar was assisted by a member representing Gombe-south constituency, Mohammed A. Bello who held the Sergeant-at-Arms to allow him took the mace.

An eye witnesses also explained, police at the gate of the house shot his car tyres in an attempt to stop him. But he managed to escaped unhurt with a shattered windscreen and flat tyres.

He later abandoned the car at New Mile 3, along Gombe-Yola road.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has advised President Buhari on what to do if he finds it difficult to read.

According to Obasanjo president Buhari should tell his aides to give him details and summarize three-volume book for him in the language he will understand if he cannot read it.

He made this known in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi.

The statement reads, ‘It has come to the attention of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo that a statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari, apparently without correct information and based on ignorance, suggested that $16 billion was wasted on power projects by “a former President”. We believe that the President was re-echoing the unsubstantiated allegation against Chief Obasanjo by his own predecessor but one’.

Obasanjo argued that while it is doubtful that a President with proper understanding of the issue would utter such, it should be pointed out that records from the National Assembly had exculpated him (Obasanjo) of any wrong-doing concerning the power sector and has proved the allegations as false.

“For the records, Chief Obasanjo has addressed the issues of the power sector and the allegations against him on many occasions and platforms, including in his widely publicised book, My Watch in which he exhaustively stated the facts and reproduced various reports by both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which conducted a clinical investigation into the allegations against Chief Obasanjo, and the Ad-Hoc Committee on the Review of the Recommendations in the Report of the Committee on Power on the Investigation into how the Huge Sums Of Money was Spent on Power Generation, Transmission And Distribution between June 1999 and May 2007 without Commensurate Result,” he boasted in the statement.

Obasanjo urged Buhari and his co-travellers to read Chapters 41, 42, 43 and 47 of My Watch for his insights and perspectives on the power sector and indeed what transpired when the allegation of $16 billion on power projects was previously made.

“If he cannot read the three-volume book, he should detail his aides to do so and summarise the chapters in a language that he will easily understand,” Obasanjo added.
