The remains of two catholic priests, Fathers Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha, and other parishioners killed by Fulani herdsmen militia were laid to rest today, Tuesday at Sesugh Maria Pilgrimage, Ayati.

Vice President, Yemi Osinabjo were among the dignitaries who attended the burial.

Leading the funeral orations to console the Catholic Church, Vice President Professor Yemi Osibanjo, who noted that the killers of the slain victims feared neither God nor man, posited that they had gained nothing by their act.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has again pledged to deliver a total of five million votes in favour of President Muhammad Buhari in the 2019 presidential elections.

The governor gave this assurance, on Sunday evening, after the election of Alhaji Sanusi Abbas, as the new party Chairman of Kano State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Ganduje recalled that the state handed out the highest votes of 1.3 million votes to President Buhari in the previous poll and stressed that they were poised to repeat the feat with a greater number of votes this time around.

He noted that the popularity of the party in the state was still intact adding that the entire congress exercise was devoid of imposition or any form of manipulation from any quarters.

Alhaji Abbas, a cousin to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi, and one – time Care taker Chairman of the party, polled 3080 votes of 3472 votes cast by delegates of the party at the state congress which took place at the Sani Abacha stadium.


He was declared the winner by the Chairman, Kano State Congress Committee, Prince Austin Emeka, alongside Alhaji Shehu Zagari, the Vice Chairman, Ibrahim Samina, the Secretary, Nabiba Garba Danbaba the Woman Leader, Mutari Sani, the new Financial Secretary.

In his remarks, Alhaji Abbas held that his victory was a reflection of the vote of confidence on his previous performance as the Acting Chairman of the party and pledged to work harder to move the party forward.

It could be recalled that all the winning candidates were initially running unopposed for their respective posts, but in a surprise last minute move, some candidates were enlisted to join the race at the venue.

A total of 32 and 21 positions were filled by the new party executives at the state and zonal levels of the party.

Ekiti State APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Kayode Fayemi's, says he will call it a quit by resigning his appointment as Minister of Mines and Steel Development in one week's time.

Fayemi Stated this in an interview with State House reporters Wednesday.

The operatives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris’ Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested a suspected notorious kidnap gang leader and killer, Barau Ibrahim aka Rambo.

Recovered from him were two AK47 rifles and two AK47 magazines with 51 live ammunition.

Daughter of Chief Victor Omololu Olunloyo, former Governor of Oyo State, Dr Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo has cheated death after surviving an attack by thunder at her residence early today.

The controversial blogger said the incident happened eary this morning during the storm and that she was struck just behind her house where she sat and was washing her clothes on a table.

She said the attack was so lethal that she lost consciousness and had to be resuscitated by people around her. She said what saved her was her knowlege of how to respond when thunder strikes. ” I drived to the ground fast before it hit the ground. It hit the table I was washing on. My heart stopped for 20 sconds and I was revived” she said.

She is currently recuperating from the incident. She related that her doctor came in later and prescribed anxiolytic medicine to calm her nerves and palpitation. “I slept for 4 hours. I feel like I died and I returned. My dad said I have 9 lives and today he is right”, she said and advised Nigerians to always stay indoors when there is thunder and lightening.

President Muhammadu Buhari Saturday in Daura, Katsina State, said the driving force for seeking public office should be to serve the people, and see their lives improved, not for frivolity or personal ambition.

Speaking at the All Progressives Party’s (APC) Ward Congress held at Bayagida Model Primary School, President Buhari said the passion to serve and see real changes in the lives of Nigerians informed his choice to join partisan politics in the first place, and inspired him to contest elections in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015.

The President said that his decision to seek a second term in office was borne out of a deep passion to serve Nigerians, and not for personal gains.

President Buhari noted that his administration had already started the process of ensuring fairness, justice and equity, in spite of challenges, and would work hard to consolidate on the gains.

“I am not in politics for fun, frivolity or to amass wealth, I have always been driven by a deep sense of commitment to make a difference to the lives of our people.

“After my retirement from the army, or forceful retirement, I sat back and watched as events unfolded on the political turf, and realised the country needed an intervention for fairness, justice and inclusion of Nigerians in the issues that affect their lives,’’ he said.


The President called for patience, maturity and orderliness as the 2019 elections’ calendar begins to unfold, urging political parties, candidates and the electorate to put the country first and always remember that victory ultimately belongs to God.

“After going to the court so many times to challenge results of elections in 2003, 2007 and 2011, and going up to the Supreme Court, I concluded that ultimately it is God who determines who will win elections, and in 2015 I got here,’’ he added.

In his remarks, the Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari, said the process of electing the leaders of the party at the ward level was hitch-free, orderly and based on the constitution of the APC.

“What we have here are our leaders that were chosen based on consensus and we are happy that it reflects the will of the people and the APC constitution. We followed the process to also ensure that there is affirmation,’’ he said.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Ward Congress, who is also the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq urged the party leaders to remain loyal and live up to expectations.
