Veteran Nigerian singer, Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, has reacted to report that Seyi, son of President-elect Bola Tinubu, acquired a “fraud-tainted” $10.8 million property in London, United Kingdom.

Recall that a Bloomberg report stated that Seyi bought a $10.8 million London property the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seized from former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke’s ally, Kola Aluko, in 2017 through Aranda Overseas Corp. — an offshore company he is named as a main shareholder.

Reacting to the report via his Twitter handle on Wednesday, Charly Boy said this is just the beginning of the unprecedented corruption Nigerians will see should the President-elect, Tinubu be sworn-in on May 29th.


The ‘Nwata Miss’ crooner said Nigerians should be prepared for the worst if Tinubu is inaugurated as president.

Sharing screenshots of the allegations against Seyi Tinubu, Charly Boy wrote, “We never see anything.

“If INEC-select president succeed enter May 29th, we go see Shege Banza.”

The Labour Party presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi has urged Nigerians and his supporters to remain calm and persistent saying this is wrong.

He stated this today at Asaba airport when a supporter accosted hm and asked that the people wants to hear from him.

Obi affirrmed that he will say something concerning the outcome of the poll by the end of today.

The national commissioner said that before candidate could be declared winner of the presidential election, he or she must have the highest number of votes cast and secure a quarter of the votes cast in two-thirds of the states of the federation and the FCT.

He said where the threshold is not met by any candidate, the constitution stated that second election should be conducted for two of the candidates with highest and majority votes in line with the provisions of the constitution.

“Section 134 subsection 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which is the fundamental law of the land, makes it mandatory that before anyone is deemed to have been elected as a president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, that candidate must secure the highest number of votes cast at the election.

“He must also secure a quarter of the votes cast in two-thirds of all the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory. That is mandatory.

“Now, if no candidate secures this highest number of votes and the mandatory threshold, the Constitution says we must have a second election within a period of 21 days.

The International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) Joint Election Observation Mission (IEOM) have presented their preliminary statement on the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria.

On Monday in Abuja, the leader, Dr Joyce Banda, former President of Malawi, congratulated the people for “their resilience and enthusiasm”.

“Despite large crowds in some polling stations and long waits, Nigerian voters demonstrated commitment to participate in the process and a strong desire to have their voices heard,” Banda said.


The mission noted that despite the reforms to the Electoral Act 2022, “the election fell well short of Nigerian citizens’ reasonable expectations”, while the electoral commission lacked transparency.

Banda said logistical challenges and multiple incidents of political violence overshadowed the electoral process and impeded a substantial number of voters from participating.
NDI/IRI confirmed currency and fuel shortages imposed excessive burdens on voters and election officials while marginalized groups, especially women, continue to face barriers to seeking and obtaining political office.

The delegation observed that the late opening of polling locations and logistical failures created tensions and the secrecy of the ballot was compromised in some polling units given overcrowding.

Banda said after the polls, challenges with the electronic transfer of results and their upload to a public portal in a timely manner, undermined citizen confidence at a crucial moment of the process.

“Inadequate communication and lack of transparency by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about their cause and extent created confusion and eroded voters’ trust in the process.

“The combined effect of these problems disenfranchised Nigerian voters in many areas, although the scope and scale is currently unknown,” the ex-President added.

The statement, however, commended INEC for conducting the general elections according to the electoral calendar “for the first time in the country’s recent history”.
