Ex Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, on Monday raised the alarm that if not addressed, growing violence and hate speeches will have an adverse effect on the 2019 general elections.

He said this in a lecture titled “Peace building and good governance for sustainable development in Nigeria” he delivered to mark the 2018 Democracy Day in Abuja.

Other threats to the election, according to Jega are the delay in the passage of the electoral framework for the coming election and lack of internal democracy among political parties.

Former Aviation Minster, Femi Fani Fani says Ex President of Nigeria Obsanjo is 10 per cent better that President Buhari.

Fani Kayode stated this today in a series of tweets he made this evening via his official twitter page.

He listed out the achievements of Obasanjo when he was in office.

The tweets reads

Obasanjo was elected President in 1999 and remained in power till 2007. He did exceptionally well,repaired and strengthed our economy,built up our foreign reserves,paid off our foreign debts,restored our pride and reputation in the int. communuty and so much more.

Buhari was elected President in 2015 and divided the country,destroyed our economy, preached hatred,presided over genocide, stole money and hunted his perceived enemies like animals. Buhari is not 10 per cent of the man that OBJ is. When compared to OBJ Buhari is nothing.

President Buhari has advised Nigerians not to allow anyone to cause to problem in their communities that will lead to bloodletting.

Buhari stated this today after the closed door meeting he had with APC senators.

He further reinstated that his Government will do anything in their power to protect the lives and property of all Nigerians.

Information reaching our news desk has it that the Ondo State House of Assembly Deputy, Speaker Iroju Ogundeji has being impeached.

Shortly after the impeachment which took place during plenary on Tuesday, a new Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bimbo Fajolu was appointed.

Ogundeji was impeached by his colleagues for being at loggerheads with the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyeloogun.

Fajolu’s nomination, on the other hand, was moved by Hon. Isreal Olajide, and was seconded by erstwhile Speaker, Hon. Jumoke Akindele.

He was immediately sworn in by the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyeloogun.

Fajolu represents Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly.

Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo has stated that Nigerians obedience to God is what will bring change to Nigeria.

Osinbajo further stated that the church has its role to play in nation building. Creativity, innovation and hard work, according to him are also vital instruments which the church needs to focus on to move the nation forward.

He made this remark during a special Sunday Service at the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly in Abuja.

“It is the church that transforms everywhere. That creativity that God commanded us to do everywhere is what will change our nation. Our creativity, innovation and hard work, and this is a command. So if we obey God, our nation will change.

“There are many countries all over the world with huge resources and many other countries that have no resources. It is creativity that makes the difference,” he said.

A former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has revealed how he wrote four books while he was in prison. According to him prison experience enriched him.

He said this on Saturday while speaking at the maiden edition of ASIS International, ASIS 206 Lagos Annual Leadership Retreat, held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

The former President said his prison experience enriched him and it was one of the factors which immensely contributed to his achievements as President.

The event was organised by ASIS to fashion out ways of bringing all private security outfits in the country under an umbrella.

He said, “My prison experience enriched me. In fact, it contributed to my performance while I was in office. A leader must learn from every situation.

“Although, nobody wants to go to prison but I was in prison when I started learning and keeping myself occupied. I wrote four books while I was in prison rather than become a slowpoke and doing nothing.

“But I was sure that the man who kept me in prison will not bring me out and I was as well sure that I will get out of prison. Honestly, the prison experience has enriched my life.”

As earlier reported that a Liberty Television journalist, Aminu Nurudeen, suspected to have posted the viral video showing the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, struggling to read a speech at a public event in Kano, has gone into hiding.

According to reports, the Kano State Police Command invited the reporter to its office immediately the video went viral.

Now the Kano state police command has released a press statement to that effect.
