This is why I fear 4 mikel obi,I do now know the criterion for the awards but I can say the criterion needs to be looked out really with an eagle's eye and something done about it. When it got to the time for the African Player of the year award to announced, well meaning Africans or football lovers were anticipating for only one who stands out tall amongst the other nominee: Mohammed Aboutrika, this is a guy who won everything on the African continent so far as football is concerned, Aboutrika plays as a playmaker and attacking midfielder for Egyptian club Al-Ahly as well as the Egyptian national football team. He has been dubbed as the Egyptian Zinedine Zidane for his technical skill and excellent vision of the field. He won the African champions league trophy with Egyptian club Al-Ahly, Adebayor didn't reach even the semi finals with arsenal in the UEFA champion's league. He won the African Cup of Nation's trophy with the Egyptian national team and he scored that winning goal to hand the trophy to the Egyptians. Adebayor with his Togo team didn't even qualify for the 2008 tournament in Ghana. He again won the African Super Cup, where Adebayor can only dream of, in a nutshell Aboutrika won every cup in Africa in 2008, Adebayor didn't even win a ''latrine container'', so why this favouritism in Africa? |
The following is the basic criteria: - The performance of the player at national and international levels - The consistency of his performance - His sports achievements - His charisma and influence - His popularity Can mikel confidently beat yaya based on dis? |

The elder brother of Chelsea star, John Mikel Obi, Ebele Obi was involved in a ghastly motor accident on Monday. Ebele Obi who also plays for Heartland FC of Owerri was in Enugu to see his fiancée when the incident happened. According to the former Rangers player, he was in Enugu to see his fiancée and during a drive across the town his Toyota Camry Spyder had a head-on collision with another car. He said he thanked God that he avoided a major damage as a result of the disaster. “I had an accident this morning in Enugu, it happened around past 5pm, I was in the car with my fiancée going back to my hotel room. I could not even say how the accident happened, we had head on collision with another vehicle but I thank God we are alive. “I have brushes around my left eye while my woman had swollen knee. We have been discharged from the hospital. The front of my car got damaged but the ultimate is that we survived it,” Ebele Obi said. www.nigeriafilms.com/news/24810/54/mikel-obis-brother-escapes-death.html

In the beginning of this month the Internet was filled with articles about D'Prince acquiring a Luxury 2014 Mercedes Benz E Class Coupe at the estimated price of N12million. More gist may be added to this story. It has been learnt that a New York based Inorie Fotso, a daughter of Cameroonian billionaire business man Victor Fotso, was the money bag behind the Mercedes purchase. D'Prince and Inorie started dating more than 2 years ago. Presumably, their love and feelings are getting stronger and stronger each day. Their relationship has been low profile and close friends say they are very much in love and he is sprung over her. Inorie Fotso is a dance/house singer and also an actress who has done several movies in Nollywood.m.naij.com/news/55125.html

A very scary event took place recently at Utak Street, off Nkemba Street, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Three months ago, a busy working class single mum employed a 17-year-old girl to help take care of her 2- year-old daughter. Recently, while the lady was engrossed with a TV programme, her daughter needed attention and she called the help more than three times and the help kept responding that she was in the toilet. When it became unnecessarily too long, she tiptoed into the help's room and opened the toilet door. To her horror, she met the help squatting with blood all over the bathroom with a stillborn newly delivered baby hanging in-between her legs. She screamed and ran out of her apartment into the street. The entire neighbourhood came out and it took the intervention of neighbours to calm her down. The neighbours also helped rushed the help to the hospital. While in the hospital, she refused treatment and claimed she drank herbs and was given some to insert in her vagina to force the baby out. The help said she was warned not to allow orthodox medical treatment. When asked, the help explained that the pregnancy was six months old. Her employer said she didn't know she was pregnant as she is a very slim girl and she thought that the small protruding tummy was just an evidence of good living with her. She was smart in discharge of her duties, so there was nothing to suspect. The help was sent parking afterward. m.naij.com/news/55132.html |

“You are your choices.” ~Seneca Lately I‘ve been feeling a bit down in the dumps. A few things have happened at work to make me feel like nothing’s going my way. I’m guessing that pretty much everyone experiences weeks like this from time to time. You know, where it feels like the whole world is against you. No matter what you do, nothing goes right. This has been my life for the past few weeks. And my initial reaction was to feel sorry for myself. To retreat to the safety of self-pity where nothing’s my fault—it’s simply the world ganging up on me. And then like a lightening strike out of the blue, amidst my dark cloud of pity I had an epiphany: I have a choice. Instead of reacting in a way that renders me helpless, I have the choice to pick myself up, dust myself off, and turn those negative thoughts into positive ones. When it comes to filtering our thoughts, even though at times it may not feel like it, we do have a choice. Just because some of our thoughts are negative doesn’t mean we have to listen to them. Did you know that our brains produce 70,000 thoughts every single day? Just imagine trying to take action on every single thought—all 70,000 of them. It would be pretty much impossible, right? In fact we actively “filter” our thoughts pretty much all the time. Our brains are constantly deciding which thoughts are useful and which ones to ignore. So when a negative thought pops into our heads, we do actually have a choice. Either we listen to the thought and allow it to trigger a whole host of other negative thoughts, or we decide that we have better things to do in life and we ignore it. The truth is, you are not your thoughts. Think about it. The thoughts you have inside your head do not reflect who you are as a friend, partner, parent, or worker. This is an important point. So many people get caught up feeling sorry for themselves or worrying without even realizing it! And then they beat themselves up about it when they realize the negativity of their thoughts. But here’s an interesting fact: Most of the thoughts that roam around our heads are completely inane and useless! Your thoughts do not make you a bad person, because guess what? Your thoughts aren’t real. They are just fleeting ideas that you can control if you take the time to learn how. It’s pretty obvious, but the way you handle your thoughts will massively impact your life. Those of us who get caught up with spiraling negative thoughts when things don’t go our way will find it hard to progress in life and get stuff done, as we’ll be dealing with things like fear and anxiety. Whereas those of us who work at “controlling” those thoughts and reactions to difficult situations in life will find it much easier to achieve and be happy. Imagine if you escaped the arms of self-pity and negativity and converted most of the thoughts inside your head to positive ones. Imagine what you could achieve! So what can you do to tame your negative thoughts? 1. Be aware. Notice next time you experience a negative thought. Often we are so “in our heads” that we don’t even realize that we may have spent the last 20 minutes in the throws of self-pity or worries. 2. Keep calm. Try not to have an emotional reaction to any negative thoughts that pop up. Remember that you are not your thoughts, and try to distance yourself from them. 3. Catch the first thought. If you can catch your negative thinking early on, then it will be much easier for you to stop it before it escalates into a big problem. Often something that starts out as a minor problem ends up being completely blown out of proportion. 4. Assess if the thought is true. Most negative thoughts are not based on reality. So ask yourself, “Is that thought 100% true?” Usually this will help to break down the meaning of the thought. 5. Look for a positive take on it. Instead of finding ways to escalate the thought, do the opposite and look for ways to prove that the thought is not true. For example, if you’re doubting your capabilities you could look for an example of someone else who has achieved in this area. If someone else has done it, then what’s stopping you? 6. Don’t beat yourself up. You are not your thoughts. Resist the urge to beat yourself up when you catch yourself thinking negatively. Everyone has negative thoughts from time to time. Just be aware and choose not to listen to all of them so you can get on with living your life. Today, take power back from your negative thoughts, and see how much more you can achieve! tinybuddha.com/blog/6-tips-to-tame-negative-thoughts-for-a-less-limited-life/

Amaaskia: Aww and I have big eyes.,really u r jst wat I ve been looking for big eyes is gorgeous 4 me let's hook up nah. |
1. Confidence is King It's been said thousands and thousands of times, but confidence is completely sexy. What's sexier than going in for the kill? Trust me, I know the game - sitting extra close to him, angling yourself a certain way, all in hopes that he'll get the hint. If you make the first move yourself, you're not only ending the waiting game, you're showing him how self-assured you are. This shows him that you know you are High Value, which is key in starting a relationship. Mixed signals are gone, and he knows that you want him. Talk about a turn-on. 2. The Power of Making Your Own Decision When you give yourself the option of making the first move, you're tuning into what you want, not just on what he wants. After all, it's not just about meeting people for the sake of meeting them - if you hope to find a relationship; you need to decide if this person is a good match for you. Was he interesting? Would he make a good partner? It's easy to neglect your own needs and focus solely on the first impression, which could backfire on you in the long run. If you're open to making the first move, you can pay more attention to these things and determine that this is someone you'd like to move forward with. How many times have you kissed a guy just because he leaned in? This is a partnership, not a dictatorship - if you've enjoyed yourself and would like to take it to the next level, go for it. You're making the opportunity rather than waiting around for it, which is completely empowering. And empowerment boosts your confidence, which we've already determined is extremely sexy! 3. You Have Levelled the Playing Field I hate the taboo 'you can't call him first' rules in dating. Who came up with this preposterous idea? Once you've shown him that you're not afraid to go after what you want, he shouldn't be surprised that you invite him to lunch a few days later unprovoked, or send him a flirty text. You should have the freedom to engage in this relationship, not just wait around for it. Believe it or not, it's still very mysterious. He's going to be interested to know what else you've got up your sleeve. This also gives you power to work together in taking things slow or heating things up in the future. It's becoming a partnership, so you're not a passenger in your own life. 4. Beggars Can't Be Choosers, but Choosers Don't Have to Beg! When you make a mutual choice to be in a relationship, it's more likely that you're entering into one with a quality guy. Guys who are begging to go home with you before they know your name are not guys you'll likely hear from again. You know the type - trying to grope you at the bar, begging, "Come on, baby" - those guys are only interested in the moment and will continue to beg. Worthy men are typically much more respectful than our friend the touchy pub predator, they may be holding back purely out of regard for you - and doesn't want to rush into anything. Make the first move! He'll be delighted to know you're ready and move forward with a reciprocated respect. 5. You Have Nothing To Lose Any guy in this position (having a sexy, confident woman make a move on him) is going to be thrilled. So many women today are undecided on what they want, or just generally flirtatious, and this establishes that you are neither. It also lets him know that you're self-aware and in tune with what you're looking for in a potential partner. Any guy who is scared off by your bold move is doing you a favour; because he clearly has too many insecurities of his own to be around someone as poised as you. If this is the case, happily move on! Making the first move shows you what kind of man you're dealing with early on, which can save you from unnecessary heartbreak later on. Making the first move can make dating much more enjoyable, as the old, limiting rules no longer apply. Embrace the power you've been given, and enjoy the ride.m.huffpost.com/uk/entry/3690438

Fireworks,Inventor: An unknown cook in China What he was trying to make: According to legend, the cook was simply experimenting in the kitchen. How it was created: A cook accidentally mixed together charcoal, sulfur, and saltpeter - common kitchen items 2000 years ago. When the mixture was compressed in a bamboo tube (why the cook did that we have no idea), it exploded. CORN FLAKES;Inventor: The Kellogg brothers, John and Will What they were trying to make: A pot of boiled grain How it was created: The brothers accidentally left a pot of boiled grain on the stove for several days. The mixture turned moldy but the product that emerged was dry and thick. Through experimentation they eliminated the mold part and created corn flakes. INk-JET PRINTER Inventor: A Canon engineer How it was created: After resting his hot iron on his pen by accident, ink was ejected from the pens point a few moments later. This principle led to the creation of the inkjet printer. X-Rays Inventor: Wilhem Roentgen, an eccentric physicist What he was trying to make: He was interested in investigating the properties of cathodic ray tubes. How it was created: When shining light through the tubes he noted fluorescent papers in his lab were illuminated even though his machine had an opaque cover. www.businessinsider.com/these-10-inventions-were-made-by-mistake-2010-11/x-rays-15

The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC, Professor Julius Okojie has said that the Federal Government was ready to pay the four-month salary arrears owed academic staff who returns to work. Briefing journalists, yesterday, in Abuja, Okojie said; “Councils have been directed to shift the resumption date to December 9. The new deadline, has already been communicated to the Pro-Chancellors Tuesday (yesterday) morning. “The Federal Government as an employer of labour cannot just fold its arms while the institutions remain shut and its clients — the students — continue to suffer. “You cannot pay someone who has failed to resume work. You are on strike and you want to be paid. What if some have already left the system? Some of our very bright lecturers may have got jobs elsewhere already.” Okojie noted that “the resumption order does not necessarily mean students would commence academic activities immediately but the school environment has to be put back in shape as reptiles may have taken over some places, and the Senate of each institution has to revisit the academic calendar. Students would be expected to resume one or two weeks after the December 9 resumption deadline”. Okojie while responding to several issues raised by ASUU, insisted that it was a general consensus at the November 4, 2013 meeting with the President to have the Permanent Secretary of the Education Ministry sign the resolutions reached after the meeting. Okojie stressed that the issue of the inclusion of a non-victimization clause as now demanded by ASUU did not even come up at all during and after the meeting. “Jega and Awuzie are past ASUU chairmen. Are they not holding good positions in Nigeria today? Why would anyone victimize someone for exercising his right? If anyone would do such a thing, not the Jonathan government. In fact the mood that day did not reflect such, we were all smiles and hugs. After that meeting we were all hopeful that was the end of the crises,” he said. He wondered why ASUU would return three weeks later, after it had failed to get back to government on November 8 as agreed, and demand addition of new clauses. He said: “The 2009 Agreement stipulates that any party that wants a re-negotiation should inform the Ministry of Labour. If ASUU had said they would resume, but the outstanding issues must be addressed, government would have no choice,” Okojie said. On the N200 billion revitalization fund which ASUU is demanding should be disbursed within two weeks, Okojie diclosed that the money has been deposited in an account in the Central Bank of Nigeria. “The money cannot, however, be disbursed just anyhow because they are meant for capital projects,” he said. Okojie therefore appealed to the striking union to return to work in the interest of students who he described as the victims. “One of the universities in Uganda where our children are enrolling, neigbouring countries do not even accept their degrees. Our children are going to schools with poorer degrees,” he lamented. http://www.informationng.com/2013/12/fg-ready-to-pay-salary-arrears-of-lecturers-who-comply-with-resumption-ultimatum-nuc.html

About 100 feet down, on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, divers had already pulled four bodies out of the sunken tugboat. Then a hand appeared on a TV screen monitoring the recovery. Everyone assumed it was another corpse, and the diver moved toward it. "But when he went to grab the hand, the hand grabbed him!" Tony Walker, project manager for the Dutch company DCN Diving, said of the rescue in May. Harrison Odjegba Okene, the tugboat's Nigerian cook, had survived for three days by breathing an ever-dwindling supply of oxygen in an air pocket. A video of Okene's dramatic rescue was posted on the internet more than six months after the rescue and went viral this week. As the temperature dropped to freezing, Okene, dressed only in boxer shorts, recited a psalm his wife had sent him earlier by text message, sometimes called the Prayer for Deliverance. "Oh, God, by your name, save me ... The Lord sustains my life." To this day, Okene believes his rescue after 72 hours underwater was the result of divine deliverance. The 11 other seamen aboard the tug Jascon 4 died. mg.co.za/article/2013-12-04-nigerian-survives-3-days-at-the-bottom-of-atlantic-ocean

Federal Government says it has deposited the N200bn promised as funding to universities in an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe and the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie, confirmed this on Tuesday. The amount is for renewal of infrastructure in the nation’s public universities. Okupe, who featured on Channels Television programme ‘Sunrise Daily,’ said from the government’s perspective, everything that needed to be done had been done. According to him, many of the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities have been agreed upon at the 13-hour meeting the union had with President Goodluck Jonathan which ended in the early hours of October 4. “At the end of that meeting, the government proposed that everything that has been agreed should be put in a Memorandum of Understanding and that the two parties should sign. But the leadership of ASUU declined and said instead of that, they would rather have a letter expressing everything that has been resolved therein, and that will suffice for them.” Okupe stressed that the attitude of the ASUU leadership showed that the seed of discord and evidence of bad faith already existed. “It is unfortunate that somebody died but notwithstanding, that cannot be a justification for delaying the implementation of an agreement for 21 or more days. At a briefing in Abuja, Okojie, who also said the money had been deposited in CBN, noted that the Coordinating Minister of Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, had confirmed to him that the money had been deposited in the CBN. ASUU had requested evidence that the money had been released as a condition to suspend the strike. Okojie, who claimed that ASUU did not seek clarification from the commission, however said, such money could not be distributed directly to universities. “You don’t disburse such funds to institutions; it is not earned allowance. The minister of finance said since they opened the account, the money had been deposited there. If there was any doubt, NUC is here they (ASUU) could have asked the question,” he said. The NUC boss also revealed that government had directed vice-chancellors of federal universities to extend the resumption deadline for lecturers to December 9 to allow ASUU members to attend the burial ceremony of Prof. Festus Iyayi. Iyayi, a former ASUU president died in a motor accident on November 12 while going to Kano for the union’s National Executive Council meeting. The Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, at a briefing in Abuja on Thursday, had warned that any lecturer that failed to resume on or before Wednesday (today) would be sacked. But Okojie claimed that government was not aware of the burial arrangement when the deadline was issued. “Council has been directed to shift the deadline to December 9 to allow those who have travelled to come back. That letter was only received yesterday from the burial committee which I also forwarded to the Minister of Education”, he said. Okojie promised that lecturers that resumed by December 9 would be paid their salary arrears. “For those who resumed by December 9, their salary arrears will be paid. We can’t pay someone who is on strike salary. In a democracy, those who want to work should be allowed to work,” he added. Okojie, who admitted that ASUU and the Federal Government discussed the issue of renegotiation, maintained that it was not supposed to be included in the Memorandum of Understanding as demanded by the union. According to him, either of the parties could call for renegotiation at any time. Asked why the non-victimisation clause was not included in the MoU as pointed out by ASUU, Okojie said the issue was not discussed at the meeting with the President, so could not have formed part of the resolution. He wondered why the union turned around to raise the issue when it “never arose” at their meeting. The NUC boss claimed that ASUU went away after the meeting with the President with the mind that strike would be called off on Friday only “to come back to say you (government) didn’t include it.” “We are saying that if there was an issue, it would have been resolved. To come back after three weeks means we are going back. The issue of non- victimisation clause never arose,” he insisted. He, however, promised that the government would not victimise anybody for his role in the strike. “Government is not going to victimise anybody. Because of the mood that day, nobody thought about it. The President shook hands with everybody on that day. The letter was written that night, they also vetted it. “Government will not victimise anybody. If any government is going to do that it is not Jonathan’s government”, he assured. But ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Fagge, who said the decision had not been communicated to the union, expressed doubt about the sincerity of government. He wondered why government instead of responding to the letter of the union went public that it had deposited the N200bn in the CBN. He said, “What they are doing is that they will tell you something when in actual fact they have not done anything. There were previous times when they will call the public on a matter only for us to find out that it has not been done. If they have done it, what is wrong in them answering our letter? Why are they going to the public when we that they are supposed to respond to we don’t know.” www.punchng.com/news/weve-deposited-n200bn-varsity-funds-in-cbn-fg/

Disclosing this on Channels Television programme ‘Sunrise Daily’ this morning, Dr. Doyin Okupe, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs confirmed that the N200b demanded by ASUU to be paid into an account with the CBN has been done. The amount is meant for renewal of infrastructure facilities in public universities in the country. But ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Fage Isa, accused the government of being insincere in its dealing with the striking lecturers. He urged the government to respond to its letter demanding the fulfillment of some conditions for it to call off the strike. Okupe said that from the government’s perspective, everything that needs to be done has been done and whether the strike would be called off or not now lies in the hands of the leadership of ASUU. They were actually eleven in number when they started in 2011 but the quartet of Michael Abdul, Odunayo Ojo Onasanya, Pat Uwaje King and Gbenga Oyebola, known simply as the Midnight Crew have kept their wits about them for nothing else but for the love of what they do and enjoy doing. In this revealing interview, which they take turn to respond, they open up on their careers, their dreams and why they have stuck together for that long. Excerpts: How has the journey been this last twelve years? It’s not been very easy but we made up our mind to go all the way as long as God stands by us . The very funny thing is that, we see very far. Have you guys ever had issues or moments of friction, where you quarrel? Yes, we do have those times. But the good thing is that we are friends, first of all, and we have realized we all need each other in our lives. And no matter the differences, we just have to reconcile. There is nothing that is irreconcilable. And we try to hear ourselves out and then we put ourselves in each others’ shoes. How many awards have you won as a group? We have never bothered to count. As a matter of fact, we still got awards this year. Initially, we used to beg for votes. But now, we don’t and we still get the awards. .What has been your happiest moment for the past twelve years? Being together. Is the name ‘Midnight Crew’ not too hip-hop like for a gospel group? God told Gideon to go and tear down the walls of Baal. Our own mission is to tear down the walls of religion. We saw similarities, they went at nights and we rehearsed at nights while we were in school because we went for classes during the day then towards evening, we would go for singing rehearsals. We realized that there was a lot of similarities in our assignments. On the last note, they were eleven in number. Comprising of Gideon and ten other men for that assignment. When Midnight Crew started at the initial stage, we were eleven in number. Some actually got married and relocated while some went back for their second degree etc. How was the fantastic four able to stick together? It’s like coming from a barber’s shop and someone telling you how good your shave is. We just realized that we were four. www.vanguardngr.com/2013/11/together-twelve-years-midnight-crew/
