LadyG has said it all @tbagtbee. Read from Part 1 through Part 3. I know it's much but believe me by the time you are done, You will be a guru I promise you. Might seem like a lot but speed read because you will see different scenarios so you are prepared in fact over prepared such that you will be able to answer any question and you would have covered all your bases.

I can only answer you based on what I experienced but by reading through you will have 100s of other people's experiences. Much better for you. If there is anything specific after reading that you don't understand please come here and ask. I am still learning at the feet of some Masters here too!

tbagtbee:
@tlkmama please reply me so I can pm you.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by TLKMama:
Hello All,

Live in Texas. Just thought to share my POE experience. Flew Delta Airline at almost 35weeks. Long flight really. Very uneventful. Wasn't asked for fit to fly. Tummy was looking massive though grin

Got to Atlanta. Was just jumping lines cos of the tummy. 4 mins after landing was in front of the CPB.

CBP: Good morning
Me: Good Morning
CBP: why are you in the US?
Me: Childbirth
CBP: How much do you have in cash
ME: $10k
CBP: Would that be enough to cover all your expenses?
ME: No. I have a dollar debit card with $..... on it
CBP: any correspondence with hospital and Dr? Any Payment?
ME: I have made part payment to the Dr. But hospital won't collect payment till am registered.
CBP: may I see receipts?
ME: Gave her receipts for Dr. Accommodation and appointment letter.
CBP: what hospital?
ME: ...........
CBP: Alright thanks. All the best with your baby
Me: thanks.

On the way out to go catch my connecting flight that is how one winch guy that was collecting immigration slip said you need to go for secondary inspection. In my head, am like wateva! Having declared my intention at the embassy gave me confidence and all my documentation matched the info I gave at the embassy.

At secondary inspection less than 2 mins later my name was called:
CBP: Checked my details on the system. The Dr. Details I filled matched my appointment letter.
CBP: how long are you staying? Like 10-12 weeks.
CBP: How many months are you?
Me: hmm? Lol!
CBP: How many weeks pregnant are you?
Me: oh, 35 weeks.
CBP: okay. Fill this form. He was telling me line by line how to fill the form. Lol! Had 10k. He checked but didn't count.
CBP: All the best.
Me: Thanks.

Lessons Learnt:
1. If you can help it, don't use wheelchair they are likely to answer you faster. I was looking heavy but I wasn't in a wheelchair. I also guessed that it could be psychological because why come from your country to make us serve you? I met some ladies in inspection, Pregnant using wheelchair and I left them there. Start Using Bcomplex a few days to your trip your bone ko strong karakaka like Zuma rock! Lol!

2. Be consistent. Don't lie. If you filled a Dr. Or Hospital in your DS160 please use that Hospital or Dr. There will always be a cheaper Dr., A Cheaper hospital, a cheaper package than what you opted for but the Onus is on you to have done your research before you fill your form. Please stick to the info you gave at the embassy. I know dollars is pinching becos I didn't even get PTA but let us think about Renewal, Your family visas being tied to yours and effect of our decisions in the long run and how they might affect not just ours but our family chances of visa renewal.

3. Now that cheaper packages are being questioned let us be careful, ask the financial counselor questions about the package and if they are willing to put that information in your zero balance letters.

Thanks all for all the work you have been doing! Newbies, please read!!! From Burden of proof to Visa interview to hospital to accommodation to Dr. I got here without having to PM anybody or ask any questions.

If you are going for a masters degree that will cost almost N5million backtoback (now that exchange rate is not smiling) Will you not READ? Will you be going to exam hall expecting expo?!

It's been God and God's Favor all the way so please let's do our part. Heaven help those who help themselves.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by TLKMama:
@Bigfido @Modath..... As someone that have experienced in-laws issue, I think that you are judging her too harshly. We are humans and we all have our days when our patience just run out and you can be frustrated to a point where you just don't care anymore and you tell them to go hug transformers or tell them to go to hell not caring the consequences.

I will NEVER STAY WITH IN-LAWS. In fact, On this missionary waka, I have an Uncle in Philly and relatives and friends that I could stay with and I choose to not stay with anybody because I am a firm believer that Fish and Guests begin to stink after 3 days. Now, there are exceptions to that rule but I would rather not find out.

In-laws can be nasty believe me, down right evil sometimes and you have to fight for yourself if you want peace which is what I had to do but you learn to pick your fights and even your fight location sef. Maybe @Girlloom shouldn't have stepped to her MIL in her daughter's house but I get where she is coming from.

modath:
Girlloom,

Nor vex ooo, like @ bigfido, you lost me at the part where you stepped to your MIL.... MILs & FILs are special, no matter how much they "ask" for it, we should never allow the devil use us.!!!!!

What would have happened if she had slapped you?

Seriously, You are an angel! What!!!! That be why I be loving you Ladygunivere! You too #gbaski. Hugs.

LadyGuinivere:
1. Nos 1 and 2 . Read back the first page of this thread.
3. That would be dependent on your pocket level and again if you are travelling with hubby to help babysit.
4. Read the thread and get a general idea of which month people travelled. Last last, u weigh ur medical history against the pregnancy travel policy of your flight .
5. Again. Dependent on your research. Some folks got all their docx ready in 2-3 weeks and left back for Naija because they were prepared. Read up on process for documentation . I'll see if I have it somewre and post for u. If not somebody may be kind enough to do so. The more u stay back , the more u pay. So your hardwork will determine.
6. You can stay with family if u want. The most important thing is that u prove u can pay for ALL your treatments.
7. Read the ist page of this thread. There's a list of hospitals/link. Get your phone loaded and start calling.
8. Go to the US embassy website for process on dropbox renewal
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by TLKMama: 10:05am On Mar 21, 2016
funtolash:
@ LadyGuinivere, thanks for your response but I think your answer was more or less saying my questions were stupid. If you don't understand the logic behind my question, I think you should just have ignored it. For instance on the airline question, different airline with different customer service that makes the flight more pleasant than the other. I read someone asked what the rate for moneygram at unity bank was. Why didn't the person just Google it? Becos he/she trust to get a firsthand info from here.

Even if i am stupid, I am not stupid enough not to know that I need to do my research and homework but nothing beats experience. Alot of people have asked questions about hospitals accommodation that they probably can easily find on Google but they chose to ask it here cos they will get first hand info about them and even probably more recent one at that.

Just curious, when you wanted info on this platform, did you read through the entire over 1000pages including part 1 &2?

Really don't know you from anywhere and wld have appreciated your silence than the response you.

To Jehovah God who is able to do what no man can do! Situations tried to truncate this dream but God is faithful! Applied for a Visa this week and was approved!

No documentations checked and just few questions. So many people were rejected but I was approved even a preggie that was before me was rejected. Thanks to everybody that has kept this thread alive.... I started reading last year and I have learnt so so much. So much information here for the newbies. Please take time to read. When you read and you are armed with information you will appear confident to the VO because you would have done all the needful. Having Said this, Pray like you have never done before because my little experience at the embassy show that Favor of God is all that counts. In fact I started a prayer chain and sowed seed on top this matter. And please be honest.

Me: Good Morning
Vo: Good Morning
VO: Why are you going to the US?
Me: For Childbirth because I am pregnant ( Looked Pregnant so I was obviously stating the obvious but I said it... For the records)
VO: What do you do?
Me: Blah Blah
VO: what does your husband do?
Me: Blah Blah
VO: How much is your budget
Me: Blah
Vo: How much do you earn?
Me: Blah
Vo: How much does your Husband earn?
Me: Blah
at this point I wanted to start handing over documents like correspondence etc. Before I even open the folder
VO: I don't need to see any documents
Fear catch me and i started telling her about the hospital I picked and why I picked the hospital
VO: Cuts in..... Your visa has been approved. Find out why in this sheet.......

I just said Thank you and raced out. Thank God for favor. Thank God for LadyG... I love you, You are the absolute best. Thanks for the people That started this thread and kept it alive. God keep you all

208.720. I was shocked myself. I was charged N31,014 for $148.59. I picked the option to pay in Naira though.

TheLeakyTribe:
Not sure what the charge was oh. Is it 208 or do you mean 270. You said 208.720?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by TLKMama: 9:57am On Feb 24, 2016
Then by all means go to town with your Stanbic IBTC card. 208.720 is what I was charged on Amazon on Feb 23rd.

praisestep:
Audu told me #370/$ yesterday morning, I called again this morning and he said #270/$.
I love this magic.

I told the PTA guy at stanbicIBTC last week that very soon they will be the one begging us to come to them just like the fuel stations. I will remind him when I get there this morning.

I hope it gets back to 210/$.

See yeye banks ripping people off.
