Last night, my cousin's husband shot and killed her mom and dad, and also shot and injured their son and her sister before killing himself. This all happened because she no longer wanted to be with him. "MEN ARE DANGEROUS" You always hear people ask in domestic violence situations "why didn't she just leave??"...here is why. To be clear though-Im sharing this not to receive condolences, but to bring awareness to the situation and stress the importance of being EXTREMELY cautious about who you choose to share your life with. Committing to someone is so much bigger than you two. You're sharing your life, your family, and your friends with this person. That is a beautiful thing, but it is also extremely dangerous. At least 20 people were killed and dozens more injured on Saturday morning in a massacre at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. The store was packed with back-to-school shoppers, making it one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history, officials said. The wounded ranged in age from a 2-year-old child to an 82-year-old victim. The suspect was identified as Patrick Crusius, 21, of Allen, Texas. He was "taken into custody without incident" and without any law enforcement officers firing their weapons, according to El Paso Police Department Sgt. Robert Gomez. At a news conference on Saturday night, El Paso police chief, Greg Allen, said that 20 people had died and 26 more had been injured. . Allen said authorities are examining what he called a “manifesto” that they believe was written by the shooter and shows a possible “nexus” to a hate crime Source; https://maniagist.com/2019/08/04/20-was-intentionally-kill-26-injured-at-a-crowded-walmart-in-texas/

FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday met with leaders of Fulani cattle breeders in the Southwest as well as Kogi and Kwara States, over the wave of banditry and insecurity across the region Obasanjo said what people knew about the security challenges in the Southwest before were all myths and not clarity, darkness and not light, hence the need for the meeting to properly interrogate the root cause of the banditry, kidnapping and other security challenges in Yorubaland. He charged the group to evolve a system that would enable them effectively police their settlements in the Southwest so that the region could enjoy once more the peace it once knew. The elder statesman addressed the meeting at his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta. In attendance were Dayo Adewole, a cattle breeder and son of the immediate past Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, spokesperson of the Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin and a leader of the Fulani group, Alhaji Sale Bayari. The younger Adewole was recently kidnapped from his farm in the outskirts of Ibadan. Obasanjo told the Fulani group who came under the aegis of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN) that the Yoruba wanted peace, harmony, wholesomeness and progress in the region, stressing that the time had come for everybody to acknowledge that “bad things are happening” in the Southwest and which have been attracting bad names to the Fulani in their midst. He urged Nigerians to stop the culture of “passing blame” and think of a lasting solution to the menace of armed banditry and other forms of insecurity. He noted that the solution to the nation’s security challenges, including Southwest, should not be left to one person to address but through collective efforts. Obasanjo said: “I take it that you are sufficiently knowledgeable, sufficiently aware, sufficiently understanding to be able to interact actively and successfully at this meeting on behalf of those that are not here. None of us here will say he doesn’t know what has been happening, what has been reported and what is being reported about the insecurity in our country generally. I believe that whatever that we are able to achieve or to discuss or to disabuse in this zone will be taken as a model in other zones. I want to learn from you and I hope you will learn from me and at the end of the day, we will be all wiser and we will be able to determine what should be the way forward for us to get rid of bad things in our community. The Plateau chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of vote-buying in the ongoing by-election for Pengana constituency in Bassa Local Government Area of the state. Mr John Akans, the party’s Publicity Secretary, made the allegation in Jengre town of Bassa Council of the state in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). NAN reports that the by-election is to replace Mr Ezekiel Afon of APC who died after he was declared winner of the March 23 polls. Akans, however, said that he could not establish the exact amount of money being given to the voters for the alleged electoral crime, but insisted that the act was being perpetrated by the ruling party. APC wants to win this election at all costs, even when the people have rejected the party in totality, it wants to force itself on the citizens. As I speak, they are inducing voters; there is massive vote-buying going on,” he said. In his reactions, Mr Bashir Sati, APC Secretary in the state, debunked the allegation and described it as a “figment of imagination” of the PDP. Sati said his party had carried out massive sensitisation and mobilisation for the poll, hence, would win it by a wide margin. Actor, Mustapha Solagbade, has said people in the movie industry are not always straightforward with one another. In a chat with Saturday Beats, he said, There’s a lot of fake love and ‘eye service’ in the movie industry. Backbiting is now seen as a normal thing in the industry. People would say one thing in your presence, and say another thing behind you. If someone has true love for you, you would be able to identify the person. Meanwhile, some people would love you but they wouldn’t show it. It is only when they have the opportunity to come around you that you’ll know that they love you.” The ‘Ewa’ actor also maintained that marriage had made him more disciplined. He stated, “Now that I’m married, I’m more disciplined. Before I got married, I was disciplined too but not as much as now. I am always scared of women. We can be friends and talk at length but when it becomes something else, I run. I thank God for the type of woman I got married. She is disciplined. There are some things I pay attention to that she cautions me about. She often reminds me that I’m a married man and a celebrity. She is always trying to protect me. West Africa Boxin Union (WABU) welterweight champion, Rilwan “Baby Face” Babatunde (left) battling with his Ghanaian challenger, Edem Biki during the GOtv Boxing Night 19 in Lagos GOtv Boxing Night will be marking its 20th edition later this year. It is almost five years since it debuted at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos. Before then, anyone predicting that a Nigerian boxer fighting locally would earn N100, 000 would be branded a liar, as the amount was the stuff of unrealistic dreams. Numerous factors inhibited boxing promoters, administrators and boxers from harbouring such a dream then. Top among them was a reluctance to invest in the sport. This ensured that the boxing boom of the 1960s, through the 80s, had become distant memories by the 1990s. Boxing promotions became intermittent and subsequently almost dried up. The few promoters, who kept the flag flying, we’re unable to bring back the glory days. As promotions dwindled, promoters, understandably, paid a pittance to boxers, who took huge risks by fighting uninsured. The big stars of the heady days aged and quit the sport leaving the scene for the next generation, whose members toiled valiantly but were eventually crushed by the dire situation. Boxers waited between four and five years to get fights. Successive generations of Nigerian boxers drifted into menial vocations, thereby robbing the country of a place on the world boxing map. Those who chose to continue did in hope, Source; https://maniagist.com/2019/08/03/plights-of-nigerian-pugilists-before-arrival-of-gotv-boxing-nightwabu/

On this day in 1997, the world was thrown into mourning following the death of Nigerian Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo who departed earth at the age of 58 years old. The multi-instrumentalist and pioneer of Afrobeat through the sounds of his music and wordings in his lyrics captured perfectly the Nigerian story. This he did so well his music was filled with Prophecy that remains true to this very day. Fela was a man of many parts; he meant different things to his massive pool of fans in his lifetime. To some who looked up to him for their daily bread, he was a father; to the bevy of ladies who surrounded him, he was their King; to the oppressed Nigerians living during the unforgettable military regime, he was the divine Freedom fighter. At the mention of the name Fela tales abound. Alongside a video of his father playing the Saxophone, Seun Kuti wrote on his Instagram handle: "Just how I remember you. Rest In Peace.” Nigerian Disc Jockey, Dj jimmy Jatt, described Fela Anikulapo Kuti as “A legend. You will be remembered forever.” A Twitter user, Amourab in his tweet lamented how the story of Nigeria has failed to change since the death of the singer. “22 years since Eleniyan 1, Abami Eda, Baba70 passed on. Sleep on, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Your music/legacy lives on. We're still "suffering & smiling" to d same "army arrangements" that has left "sorrow, tears & blood" in the "kalakuta republic" What Fela's song you love the most. The Coalition stated this in a press release signed by its Coordinator, Comrade Ebere Onyekachi and its Publicity Secretary, Miss Mabel Maduabuchi, shortly after the Senate made public its list of committee leaders on Tuesday. CAST further stated that “Senator T.A. Orji’s leadership qualities have never been in doubt since his days as a civil servant where he rose to the pinnacle of his career before becoming the Governor that laid the foundation for the peace, fairness, justice, equity, progress and prosperity of Abia State. It was Senator T.A Orji who insisted on the implementation of Abia’s Charter of Equity which is the template left for us by our founding fathers for peaceful transition and equitable distribution of political power among the blocs of the state, a template which has given all Abians a sense of belonging in the affairs of the state. Ochendo’s many legacies made it easy for Abians to return him to the Senate for the two occasions he contested and where he has successfully presented Bills that have direct effect on the State and her people, some of which include the upgrade of the Abia State Polytechnic to a federal institution. It is therefore not surprising that the Senate recognizes these qualities and appointed him Chairman of its Committee on Privatisation, a critical process in the nation’s economic growth and development. We consortium and secure Nigerians that Senator T.A. Orji, based on his consummate antecedents, will discharge this liability on behalf of the governing body with altogether feel of allegiance and purposefulness. A 19-year-old suspected cultist, Ayo Afolorunsho, has asked his parents and family members to forgive him for bringing their names into disrepute. The suspect, who urged youths to shun crime, was arrested at the weekend by a team of policemen from Oworoshoki Police Division, led by a Superintendent of Police (SP), Nkereuwem Joshua. The suspect was picked up at Oworoshoki area of the Third Mainland Bridge, as his group was planning a deadly attack on rival Eiye cult group. “The suspect confessed that they went to Oworonsoki, after leaving a meeting at Obalende. He said that they were supposed to have another meeting at Oworoshoki, when police appeared and arrested them all.” The cultists, on sighting the police team, took to their heels. However, Afiolorunsho was arrested, in possession of a sword, which he said was for self-defence. The suspect, who is a ‘vulcanizer,’ said he was initiated into the Aiye cult group in Ikorodu area of the state by other members of the cult who kept threatening him for refusing to become their member. He said: There is nothing to gain from cultism. I regret being a member of Aiye. Those that forced me to join cultism made so many promises to me, but all were lies. “Since the police arrested me, not one member of the group under any guise has visited me. I am left to my fate. My parents are ashamed of me. I plead with youths to shun cultism. If I should regain my freedom, I would relocate to my village immediately and practice my trade. I have ruined my future with the group that I joined. I’m finished. My future is gone! I don’t know if I will ever leave the police custody.” Source; https://maniagist.com/2019/07/29/arrested-19-year-old-cultists-plead-his-mom-dad-for-forgive-photo/
