imagine a scenario (I've seen lots of videos about this) where a woman is accused of stealing from her boss, she then got stripped naked, sexually assaulted, beat up etc, but the victim has now become a perpetrator, you have assault, you have kidnapping, and sexual assault to name a few. So they committed a bigger crime just to punish someone for a lesser crime.
Nigeria's society is a product of bad governance and vice versa. if those at the top do their job right, you wouldn't think they way you do. but since govt is useless, citizens have no choice but to take matters into their own hands.
What you have is then a lawless society. And that's what Nigeria is

That's not the way.
Funny how Nigerians want a better Nigeria yet tolerate savagery on both sides. That will never bring progress.
We need to act based on laws and discipline, not emotions. And those in Authority should never lose suspects in their custody and those suspects all end up dead. In any serious country those soldiers will be facing charges.
Take emotion out of it, what just happened is illegal and a crime. That is a fact. I'd rather see a judge sentence them to death, but like someone said, most Nigerians have no hope or trust in the system. Oh well

Have you ever been kidnapped by bandits, or do you knw someone who as kidnapped by bandits?

Guy, the activities of these guys brought out the best inside most people around villages.

One of my direct friend was among the kanti kwari men that was kidnapped some months back, I have a priest friend who was kidnapped also.

You need to hear how ruthless these guys are.

I live in the north, in one of the states that bandits are active.
The way bandits operate, anyone found wandering around their camp and is not a victim of kidnapp, then that person is either a bandit, a supplier or a gun runner and so deserve the jungle justice.

When he was at it again that morning...I tailed him closely caught up with him...gave him correct slaps,emptied my can of pepper on him.he was just crying like a bush rat.
Some of the pepper even touched me and my skin was itchy eeh,but I no mind.

He became tongue tied when passersby came around and asked him what he did to me to warrant that type of makeup decoration from me.

Nobody is merely massaging another's ego. Once there's shared interest and values, automatically there would be shared support.

Also, India is not as allied to the west as you might think. In fact they are kind of closer to Russia than the US. Beyond that, India is focused on carving out a niche for itself as a global superpower and not just allied with one, same with Brazil.

Australia is not really far from China. And yes, the reason for their problems is China's growing influence.

Also you seem to underrate language and overrate economy. What makes countries strong allies, is not economy and trade but rather shared systems of governance, ideology and culture. No matter what Australia is gaining from China, they would always support the western point of view on almost every issue.

China has been the one growing it's influence and trying to subdue Democratic countries in the region that present a sizable threat. Take South China Sea for example. Australia is simply responding as a normal country would. To have adequate defense against China's threats.

American MIC is better off without Afghanistan. They have a new for in China. Afghanistan offers nothing apart from MRAPs.

With China & Russia American MIC would get contracts for Submarines ( Nuclear & Conventional), F-35 fighters, Aircraft carriers, Frigates & Destroyers far bigger and juicier contracts.

Have found this strange pic of this aw139 SAR too , no other pic of it . After a small search i found that its a helicopter of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) , not the navy or air force , it was sent to the Nigerian navy station for repairs . Abondoned there for 3 years , according to these source .

Police arrest man ‘who produces prop guns for movies, parade him as robber’ – Movie Producers

Movie producers have identified the arrested man as a prop gun producer.

Movie producers have countered claims by the police over the arrest of a filmmaker in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Hector Ekike, a movie prop manager, was arrested by police officers with ‘prop guns’ on Monday.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered that Mr Ekike was on his way to a movie location to deliver the prop guns when he was arrested.

The police spokesperson in Akwa Ibom State, Odiko MacDon, said in a statement that Mr Ekike was arrested with eight locally fabricated AK47 rifles, one pump action, one pistol and six dane guns.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is an elder who specialises in making and selling locally made rifles and other types of guns to criminal elements who use same in terrorising innocent members of the public,” Mr MacDon, a superintendent of police, said.

He said the state commissioner of Police, Amiengheme Andy, has ordered investigation into the case in order to arrest those “who enjoy his (Ekike) patronage and other conspirators”.

Checks by PREMIUM TIMES revealed that Mr Ekike was credited as prop manager for Nollywood movies like Wicked Queen, Missing Princess, Broken Sceptre, and 1929.

Movie producers react

Aniebiet Francis, the state chairman, Association of Movie Producers, said that prop guns are used by movie producers because they are easier to get and safer than real guns.

“The prop guns are used for movies because sometimes, to get real guns from the police is a long journey, and many producers may not even have the resources. Sometimes, if you don’t have the connection, they won’t give you. So movie producers resort to these locally make-believe kinds of guns,” she said.

She said it was wrong for the police to circulate Mr Ekike’s picture on the internet and tag him a criminal when they have no evidence to that effect.

Ms Francis, assured that there were efforts to get the police to release Mr Ekike.

She said there would be training for filmmakers in the state to avoid a reoccurrence of such an incident.

“From what I have gathered, he just had them in a bag in his car and was on his way to a movie scene and it has been confirmed that they are shooting film, which is what he does.

“Our issue is, if the investigation is still going on and they have not yet caught one criminal that confirms that he (Ekike) supplies him guns, they should not splash the boy’s picture all over the internet and tag him a criminal,” she added.

Chidebere Solomon, a movie producer, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that Mr Ekike was coming to his (Solomon) movie location with the prop guns.

Mr Solomon, who disclosed that he was in the state to reshoot some scenes of a television production, said the shooting was rescheduled after the crew had waited in vain at the location for the props from Mr Ekike who did not show up.

“It’s true, he (Ekike) was coming for a movie set. We shot a job previously which we did for a particular production house outside the state. There were missing clips in the video, so there is a demand for a reshoot.

“In the case of reshooting a video, it has to be done the exact way the first shoot was done. But the guy that handled our props the first time was not in Akwa Ibom, so when I asked him where he rented them, he told me it was Hector who owns the props that were used in the previous.

“So, I got his (Hector) number and called him to bring the props. I was surprised to read on the internet that the guy is an armed robber,” he said.

The insecurity issues Nigeria faces today is due to decay in security architecture for a very long time, it made the central government week, the effect started showing with the Niger-delta militants, other hyenas sensed the weekness and started attacking, the bokoharam insurgency last this long is part of the reasons why we are starting to see a new insurgency in the northwest and Southeast. It will get worse before it gets better but with sustained efforts, everything will soon be history. We started getting it wrong when we didn't finance the military for several years, allowing well trained mobile police officers to serve as bodyguards to rich and powerful people. The mopol of the early 2000s would have comfortably dealt with many of the crisis we have today, but they've been reduced to bodyguards. Today, the police force doesn't have any plan of taking over from the military in the places the military has managed to stabilize so the military can be free to move to other Hotspots which has led to the military being tied down in many places. Many settlements in Southern Borno, adamawa and yobe states shouldn't even have military garrisons by now so the military can focus on northern Borno and the lake Chad Islands, we've even seen civil militias being more effective than the police force.


No amount of weapons bought for the military will stop terrorists/criminals from attacking soft targets, only effective policing will stop that. The police force need to be in the rural areas too, not only in the cities and towns.
In many occasions, we've seen reports of terrorists hoisting flags in settlements in other parts of Northern Nigeria other than the northwest, these are done by very weak groups and individuals and only possible because there is no one to stop them.
If we are not careful, twenty years time the military will still be in supercamps in the northeast(I'm not even sure they have a time line of operation). The military needs to rest and rebuild, they need time to reflect and learn from the war of the northeast to better prepare them for another potential insurgency.

Virtually no one even focus on weapons procurement for the police, they recently got a share from the northeast extra budgetary allocation given to the military,till now nothing has been heard of their plans for the money.
