"The first few months after I opened my shop were really tough, finally actualizing my dream of owning my own business then start questioning my decision.
When I opened, I wasn't seeing any customer, regardless I'd still leave the house very early each morning and rush down to the shop as if I was expecting customers but none were coming.
I'll just kneel down and start praying to God to have his way, It was just God that kept me going and to His Glory, things changed. The first set of customers came and I did a good job with their hair and they started recommending me to their friends. Now I even get invited to other states to go and style peoples hair.My advise to fellow entrepreneurs is never giver up."

Majority of my buyers are white people, they like this kind of thing. I'm really thankful for this business, I'm able to take care of my wife and kids from this."

"I lost my Job last year and after staying at home for months, I decided to start my barbing business with the little money I have on me, instead of waiting till I get enough money to rent a shop.
I learnt how to cut hair when I was still in secondary school and that knowledge is what is helping me feed my wife and kids now.
I opened 5 months ago and I hope to save enough and move to a shop in the near future."

Thanks to all the amazing people who have donated for Favour's surgery, we have raised $347 so far and still have a long way to go.
To donate, visit https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/corrective-heart-surgery-for-favour-usadoh#/story. Thanks.

This campaign is to raise the remaining N500,000 needed for Favour Usadoh's heart surgery. We already have N1,500,000 which was the remaining money raised for late Vivian's surgery before she passed away.
The surgery will be carried out middle of September at Babcock University teaching hospital.

"My mum is my biggest influence, she is the most caring and compassionate human being I know and I'm so happy I'm slowly picking that from her.
We are having a family time here, we do not always get to see each other often, for instance I school in England and all the others travel a lot too but we make sure to make out family time once everybody is around. Nothing makes me happier than been around my family, knowing that everyone is okay"

Corrective heart surgery for Favour Usadoh; Favour Usadoh is a 15 months old child with a hole in the heart, she and her mum were friends with the late Vivian whom we raised money for her surgery on the page some months back. The money raised for Vivian’s surgery was unused before she passed away and after her passing, the donors and our followers decided that the money should be split between her family and saving another child with similar condition. The total money was 2 million naira after charges. N500, 000 was giving to the family and 1.5 million naira set aside for favour’s surgery. It was Vivian’s mum who nominated Favour and her family.

HOL and Favour’s parents were at the Cardiac and Renal Centre of Gbagada general hospital to meet the surgeon Dr Majekodunmi for an updated echo diagram on Favour. The good news is that the surgery can be performed here in Nigeria at Babcock university teaching hospital by Doctor Tosin Majekodunmi and his team. We initially thought the 1.5 million naira would be enough for her surgery since it is to be carried out here in Nigeria but on meeting with the Doctor, we were told the hospital charges a fixed price of 2.5 million naira. Dr Majekodunmi who has been following this case from Vivian intervened and told us to bring 2 million instead of 2.5 million naira.

The surgery will be carried out middle of September at Babcock teaching hospital, our goal now is to raise the remaining N500, 000. To donate please visit the Indiegogo link https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/corrective-heart-surgery-for-favour-usadoh/x/11897623#/story

Please share and tag your friends. Thank you.

"If I had one wish now, it would be to end Boko haram. At times, I wish I had the power to just go out there and defeat those bastards on my own, take them out one by one.
You've been the one doing all the asking, let me ask you one question. Can you die for Nigeria?
*HOL* scratches head and starts beating around the bush.
Just answer yes or no. You see, when you join the army, you sign away your life, so many good men and women have lost their life for this country and they are forgotten immediately.
I'm not afraid of death, it's what I signed up for. My fear is that when I die, my family will be abandoned."

"I sacrificed going to University so I can be able to help train my younger ones, my late dad's dream was for all of us to go to school. When he died, things became tough so I had to learn this work and help my younger ones.
I still have plans to go back to school after they graduate, my greatest joy now, is that they are in school.
The only thing that makes me sad is that my dad won't be around to witness our best years, during my marriage ceremony, I had to use an Uncle to perform the father rites. It was supposed to be a joyous day, everybody was happy but I wasn't, I was crying because he was not there to rejoice with us."

Hi Tochi, I'm an ardent follower of this thread, I must say you are a real inspiration. I'd just like to point out that I saw this particular image on the etisalat lagosphoto competition. My first thought was that the person stole the picture from HOL (or did you know about it), I'd just like to confirm if it's so. If it is, I think you should start putting your watermark on your images to avoid such. Thanks
Thanks a lot bro. About this picture, there is a slight mix up somewhere. I tried to upload this picture to the people category of the competition but got an error message that my entry was not successful so I just forgot about the whole thing. Maybe it went through and they mixed it up with someone's or the reason mine failed to go through was because this person already used the same image.
Will send them an Email asap and let them know about this.
Thanks once again bro, I really appreciate that you took your time to notify me about this. Feels good to know that we always look out for our own.
salsera:

Please Tochi say this was you. Or else it means them don dey thief your foto oh.
Mba
Please report and watermark your images everywhere. I mean everywhere!!

Lol thanks Sis... I'm still trying to understand what happened. I think it was a slight mix up.

Yesterday we shared the story of a boy who suffers physical abuse from his Uncle.
After his story was shared, many NGOs and individuals reached out and wanted to help him.
Today I went back to the place we met and was lucky to run into him, but again, he refused to accept our help, he still wants to stay with his Uncle.
He does not want anything that will take him back to the village and he is afraid if people intervene, it would only lead to his Uncle sending him back and he does not want to go back. I tried to make him understand he doesn't have to go back to the village and there are people willing to help him all the way but he still insisted.
He told me about other boys his Uncle brought to Lagos and even tho they suffered when they were with him, they've become rich now and that's what he wants. He believes his Uncle will change and he will just have to endure. I gave him my number and contacts of people to reach out to incase things get out of hand or he changes his mind. Wish there was more we can do.

"My uncle flogged me with hose yesterday because I mistakenly collected a fake N1000, he said he will keep flogging me every night till I replace the money.
He also flogged me last week with the same hose because I did not return in time from an errand he sent me, that's where I got these marks on my body from.
He brought me from the village September last year and he told my parents he will send me to school when I get to Lagos, but the last time I asked him about it, he said he doesn't have money for that yet."

*HOL replaced the fake naira note and offered to follow him home and talk to his uncle but he said no, he was afraid it would lead to more punishment after.

Wow! Great job TochiPhotos I'm a silent follow
keep the great job moving dude, Pls can u
recommend for me a Digital Camera for my own
personal use? And the price with some features
pls. Thanks!
You are good to go with a Canon 600d(t3i) the kit 18-55mm lens will be enough to serve your needs but I will recommend you get a fast prime lens. If you still have money left, buy the 50mm f1.8 lens, it's good in low light, very sharp and fast.
Aspireahead:
please, Tochiphotos do answer the question about camera recommendation... i am planning on going into nature photography(odd right?) and will love some suggestions and advice. gracias
Get Nikon D610 or canon 5d mark ii. They are both full frame but I personally think you should go with D610 it has more features than mark ii and it's less expensive. 5d mark ii just has that name and the only advantage it has is manual aperture control when shooting videos. For the lens, buy a wide angle lens from 16-35mm will fine and then get the 70-200mm f2.8 or 55-200mm f5.6. The wide angle for taking beautiful landscapes and the zoom for close ups.

I'm so sorry for my late reply, wanted to go to Okey Japan in Idumota and Shoprite to compare the prices then include it in my reply but I've not had time to do so. You guys can easily get the price online from konga or Jumia. Instead of listing the features, I recommend you guys make out time and go to Nikon office in Ikeja or Okey Japan in Idumota they will let you guys test shoot and compare the cameras. You can also order from Ebay or Dubizzle it's cheaper that way... check out justi4jesu 's thread on buying from Dubai and USA.

I've been doing this for close to 20 years.
Cows are quiet and easily obey commands but when they get jealous which they do easily, they become very aggressive and might fight each other to death. The last time they fought it was because one finished its food before the other and after staring at the other cow in anger for a long time, she attacked her."
