"My girlfriend left me 4 years ago, we started dating when we were in JS3 and we planned to get married as soon as we finish Uni and get good jobs. After graduation and NYSC I applied for jobs but didn't get any. I had this childhood friend, he already had a job and was doing well. We were not that close but we grew up in the same area and went to school together at some point so I consider him a friend and he knew I was dating my girl. One day, my girlfriend told me he asked for her hand in marriage. I was very angry, he knew we were together and have intentions of getting married once I find my feet. Before I knew what was happening, he took drinks to her parents and they accepted him knowing fully well me and their daughter had plans. My girl cried and cried, she didn't want to get married to him but her parents pushed her and she eventually agreed. It was the lowest point of my life, I locked myself inside for weeks and even thought of committing suicide. She was the love of my life and it really affected me. I'll be 28 in a few weeks and the only thing that matters to me now is work, happiness and becoming a better man. They've been married for 4 years but she hasn't been able to conceive. She said her mum told her to go and beg me and ask for my forgiveness. I told her I have nothing against her, I wasn't ready and it wasn't her fault. I'm actually not happy she hasn't conceived and I do pray God Blesses their Union."

" I woke up one morning and just decided to get a tattoo. I've been a Barber for close to 16 years and a clipper was the only thing that came to mind. I don't regret it at all and it makes me feel good especially when people compliment it."

I started a fish farm in 1999 while in Jr secondary school. I started with a few hundred fishlings and my farm has grown over the years and I have over 5 thousand fishes now. I studied journalism and worked briefly at Lagos state television but it affected my time in the farm and I couldn't just let go of my fishes. I think I've become attached and have some sort of emotional connection to my fishes. Watching and feeding them everyday, that transition from fishlings to adults fascinates me. HOL: How does one become attached to fishes? is it the same kind of attachment one shares with their pets? I can't really explain how it works but I just know there is this connection. It's not like I have a particular fish I've kept with me for years , I do sell them off. HOL: Do you cry when your fishlings die? I don't know if I'm supposed to admit I've cried because of a fish but let me share this with you. One evening I wanted to withdraw money from the atm and get fish food but for some reason the atm refused to pay and that was the only bank in my area. I couldn't get feed for the fishes and had no one to borrow from. I came back to the pond and all the fishes rushed to the front as they do when I bring food for them but this time I didn't bring any food. I stood there looking at them, I didn't know how to explain to them I couldn't get their food. I too couldn't eat that night I stood vigil there watching them and waiting for day break so I can go and get there food."

GIYAZZ:They went for further tests during the week and the updated medical reports have been sent to the hospitals who requested for an updated echo scan. will update the page about the progress soon as we get a feedback from the hospitals. |
"I told my father I'm tired of going to school, told him I don't see myself doing all these government work or any work someone can just wake up and decide to sack you. He asked me what I wanted to do and I told him I wanted to learn handwork, he agreed and gave me the go ahead. I've finished learning and will soon open my own workshop. I do get worried sometimes and I pray to be successful so I don't have any reason to regret my decision."

" Last year, one of the boys I taught in this school came around. He bought many books for the school and hired a tractor to mow the grass. I was really proud, I took him round the classes and used him as an example to motivate the pupils. He went to this same abandoned school and he worked hard and became successful. I told them they too can become successful if they read their books and work hard. This is my joy as a teacher, to see my students grow up and become something in life. Sadly, the grasses are back and so will the snakes and when it rains heavily, the water level reaches the chest and we have to evacuate the students and move to another school temporary. I hope government remembers our school soon."

So sorry I had to take down the amazing story of the Paedtric intensivists. She reached out and wanted it taken down for some reasons but it will be up as soon as we sort out a few things... Hopefully. |
"We are mami water people from Osun Oshogbo, we came to Lagos to look for festival donations. HOL: Do you have super powers? Yes. HOL: Which one of you is more powerful? Ah! We are just messengers the most powerful one is in Oshogbo."

"I had this lecturer during my undergrad, he had the last class on Fridays. Here is the thing, everybody including me hated mr Akingboye. Whenever he enters the class first thing he will say is I'm here to ruin your weekend and he will say it with some kind of mischievous smile. He will proceed and give us real world assignments that will take us out of our comfort zones and the thing is you can't copy, you must go out to sites and research the assignment yourself. We hated him for always spoiling our weekend. But fast forward to now, years after graduating I've realized his assignments were the best thing to happen to us in Fed Poly Ilaro. I've been able to overcome so many challenges at work because I've experienced it in his assignments back then. I'm a better Engineer today because of Mr Akingboye ."

"Few years ago on my birthday, my girlfriend(now wife) bought me a small diary with a scientific calculator and a little note. 'I will always be there for you' it was an inexpensive gift but it's the best I've ever received. I was in my final year studying Engineering and you know how hard and stressful the course is. Knowing she was on my side meant everything to me. HOL: what's the best gift you've given her? Making her my wife. Marrying her is the best decision I've made in my life. Can't imagine my life without her."

"I'm not happy with our government officials at all. Look at Dubai of yesterday, see how beautiful it is. Is it not the same oil money. why is our own different? I keep hearing about the mansions some government officials are building abroad and the money they squander. It breaks my heart. I don't want to suffer and my child will still grow up and still suffer. I just want things to be better."

"It's hard for me to pick which is the best thing one of the kids has said to me. When they are here, they are always happy and smiling and it could get emotional sometimes and they'd say all these sweet things but there is one moment I won't forget in a hurry, it wasn't even what was said. There was this kid, he wasn't doing well in his class and could barely read and write till he started coming to the library. He didn't have a good foundation so we went all the way back to the roots, we were patient with him and soon enough he picked up. Even his parents came to the school one day to know what changed and see the special library he always told them about. Then one day in the library he just came and hugged me and didn't want to let go. He didn't say anything he just held me."

"I'm part of a team at United for kids foundation that help train pupils in some select public schools. UKF has libraries in those schools where we provide the best learning materials and a conducive environment for the kids. We make learning fun and interactive for them. Most of these kids don't know a classroom could be like this. They haven't been in such a conducive learning environment before and it's all new to them and totally different from what they are used to with leaking roofs, broken desks etc and often over crowded with as much as over 40 pupils in a classroom making it hard for the teachers to teach or control the class. Our public schools are nothing to write home about. We have limited time to spend with the children and each day the kids look forward to the 30 minutes and once it's time they all run to the library hugging us and telling us how much they missed been here. These are the same kids that teachers complain are stubborn or don't pay attention in class. But when they are here they become really interested in learning and the kids you see in the classroom making noise and been stubborn all of sudden change, become quiet and willing to learn. It's just like it brings out a different part of them. Some of these students were made to believe they won't be anything in life, they often tell us how some of their teachers curse them and all that. They feel abandoned and most times it makes them stubborn and lose interest in studying. We try and make them understand they can be whoever they want to be. Some of them really have it tough at home, when you talk to them you understand they are going through a lot at home which also affects their behavior but their teachers don't take out time to get to know them or try to understand them. Some of them are really intelligent but you won't know till you take time to get really close to them and help them discover themselves. At the end of the term we give out scholarships to the best students and send them to the best private schools and those we've sent so far are excelling in their various schools. This Library here in Ojudu primary school is one of the 4 we have so far." #HumansOfLagos

"I came back from work one evening and received a call that my village in Adamawa was attacked by boko haram and my brother and his family are missing and feared dead. Before that incident he was making arrangements to bring his family to Lagos. During the first few days I was hopeful, each day I will come home hoping to receive a call from him that they are safe but the call never came. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months and now it's almost a year. Sometimes I dream about them only to wake up feeling sad wishing I could bring them from the dream to real life. Now I'm slowly making peace with the fact that they might be gone forever. I'm just focused on my work now and I'll leave everything to God."

"During the war, I did well in the boys camp Intel unit and was later assigned to the commander of the infantry. He liked me so much and treated me like a son. One day I had measles and told him I needed to go home for treatment and to also check how my people are doing. The day I left, he was assainated. I was always with him everyday but for that day and I was accused of killing him and a manhunt began to get me. I didn't understand how I could kill him, he was like a father to me I knew he had enemies in the camp but I didn't know they would kill him and the person planned it so it will fall on me. I was arrested and taken to PH to be executed the priest even came and after praying for me and confession I said my final prayer and awaited my death. As a soldier fighting a war, you know death would come one day but this one was different. It was people I ate and drank with that are pulling the trigger and you can't duck or anything you'll just stand helplessly and wait for your death. But luckily for me a high ranked officer who was a friend to my late boss and had seen him that day came and verified my story of been giving a leave that day and I was freed and put in the war front instead and I survived."

"I wanted to be a reverend father, I was in sacred Heart Seminary when the war started and one morning some biafran soldiers came to our school and selected some of us to fight in the war. I was among those selected but because of my age, I was assigned to the boys camp unit. Our mission was to go to enemy camp, pretend as children who lost there parents then gather Intel about the enemy and sneak out after a few days to lead our soldiers in an ambush. After the war, I couldn't go back to the Seminary and I learnt a trade instead. My son, war is a terrible thing and I pray we never experience such in our country again."

"I didn't work yesterday but I don't regret it. Yesterday was filled with so much happiness that no amount of money I could have gotten from work would have made me that happy. At a point during the announcements I felt tears coming out from my eyes. I thought people only cry when they are sad but yesterday I cried and it was of joy. I remember looking around in the place we gathered to watch and I wasn't the only one crying, I saw one old man he just knelt down tears in his eyes and praising Allah for giving us this day. Yesterday was the happiest day of my life and I will remember it as the day everything changed for good. My wife is pregnant and will soon put to bed. If it's a boy, I will name him Muhammadu, if it's a girl I will name her Aisha.

naijababe:Maybe when the ongoing one is over. Starting it now might not bring the desired results. |
"I have a company in Turkey with 8 staff. I tell them see, in 2-3 years I want you to have learnt enough from me to go out there and succeed on your own. Some people secretly hold back their employees from been successful cos they don't want to lose their services. A leader should strive to make sure those under him become better than he or she is. I want all my employees to excel, to reach greater heights, to be better than me"

naijababe:We weren't able to set that up then. |
" I used to play in the Nigerian league back in the days. At a time, I was one of the highest paid players in my club in Yobe but I couldn't account for any of the money. I spent most of my time partying and carrying women. I wasn't moving forward at all. I couldn't even get a foreign club and most of my teammates even those I played better than were moving to clubs in Europe I kept jumping from one local club to another. I had the talent but I wasn't just making progress. Then one day I attended a crusade in Christ embassy and that day it was as if the the pastor was talking to me directly I could relate to everything he was preaching about and I walked to the Alter and knelt down and the pastor ministered to me and I gave my life to Christ. Things changed immediately and after some time I got an offer abroad with tickets and everything without paying a dime. I realized It wasn't by my power and you can't really make progress without God."

*Update on Vivian* So far we've raised $8,624 and slowly reaching the goal. God bless the 212 people who donated and all the amazing people supporting in one way or the other. The support has been amazing and soon Vivian will get the help she needs. United for kids foundation the NGO helping out with Vivian's case are still waiting for feedback from Dr Animashaun Vivian's doctor in Lasuth who sent her echo scan to a hospital India and once they get feedback, arrangements will start to fly her to India. While they wait for Dr Animashaun they are also reaching out to another hospital and depending on whichever comes first. Arrangements will start soon. God bless J. Morgan. The American lady who is now managing the gofundme and wepay account. The accounts were nearly suspended last week cos gofundme only supports a few countries and Nigeria is not included but she came through and has verified the accounts for us. She has dedicated her time to this and it hasn't been easy for her. She has been really helpful and we appreciate her. She has started the process of getting a part of the funds so the family and ukf can have funds readily available when they start with the arrangements. We will keep the page updated with further developments. Thanks to all of you and remember you can still donate and don't forget to share the link with your friends. To donate visit the gofundme page here www.gofundme.com/ojv9zs thanks.

4 weeks ago, we tried to crowd source funds to help Iya Abeji get back to her fish business. Then, we weren't able to setup a gofundme account and had to use PAGA as the payment processor. Unfortunately, during the call for donations, the PAGA page had technical issues which prevented those that wanted to donate from doing so and we didn't get a donation. A single donation came in few days later after they were able to sort it out and we've asked them to refund the donor. We haven't updated the page about Iya Abeji and I'm sure lots of people would want to know how that went. A lot of people wanted to help and we are so sorry and sad it ended the way it did, like everyone on the page, nothing would have made us happier than to see her back to her business and we accept responsibility for the failure and apologize to all those who wanted to help Iya Abeji but couldn't do so. Paga's incompetence taught us a great lesson and moving forward it won't happen again. Thanks.

"Few weeks ago we lost some family members. They were running away from the bombings in the north and they had an accident on there way back to the East. I don't know how things got this bad, before I only see bomb blasts in films or hear it happened in other countries not our own Nigeria but now it's slowly becoming a normal thing. If I had the opportunity to be president I would make security and power a priority, there are so many things that needs to be fixed that's why a leader should be close to his people and know what they need before they even ask. Nigeria is a difficult country to lead and whoever wins needs our prayers and support and the loser should accept defeat and join hands to make our country better. My prayer is for a peaceful election."

"One day on the pitch I was moving with the ball then I felt a sharp pain in my ankle funny thing was no one tackled me it just happened. I thought it was something minor but the injury was an internal one and worse than I expected. That's how my football career ended. I was playing amateur football then and my team abandoned me. I haven't kicked a football since then, I'm not even sure I can stand for 10 minutes without asking for a chair. Some of my friends went on to play professionally. Sometimes when I watch football, I sit down and think of what could have been if I didn't have that injury."

This is where most of the office/corporate workers in this Lagos Island come to eat. Mds bank workers etc everybody eats here. We sale almost every local food. Amala, pounded yam, gbegiri and ewedu, efo riro, egusi etc. Our foods taste is consistent and I'm sure it's the best around here.
