The problem of Nigeria is not the govt but the people. Just look at how ungrateful these people are "We want video or it's a like" Probably some of y'all should join the military and know how complex this war is.. Even Niger republic can testify about Nigeria military.. For once you all should be grateful.. God have mercy on y'all You all have just succeeded in Demoralizing troops you've killed them automatically.. |

jln115: So how do you know they are there for an upgrade when news outlets are saying they are there for maintenance?
Besides Nigerian ATRs received a ELINT upgrade just a couple of years ago! But this same aircraft was overhauled in 2018 in country... It was used in the search for the captured Dapchi girls.. Why the maintenance again.. |

jln115: I wouldn't right it of so quickly.......Its a brilliant platform!! The A-29 Super Tucano is the gold standard for light attack, combat and reconnaissance aircraft. Built in the U.S. by Sierra Nevada Corporation and its partner, Embraer Defense & Security, the A-29 has been selected by 15 Air Forces worldwide including Afghanistan and Lebanon. The A-29 is a versatile and powerful turboprop aircraft and is known for its rugged and durable design, which allows it to perform operations from unimproved runways and at forward operating bases in austere environments and rugged terrain. The A-29 is the only light attack aircraft in the world with a U.S. Air Force Military Type Certificate. “SNC is proud of our close partnership with the U.S Air Force, specifically in identifying ways to acquire the additional A-29 at the best value to the U.S. taxpayer and in support of U.S. and allied operations,” said Ed Topps, vice president of tactical aircraft systems and programs for SNC’s ISR, Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area. “SNC is honored to build and deliver the combat-proven A-29 to the U.S. Air Force.” The undefinitized contracting action by the U.S. Air Force is for SNC, as prime contractor, and its partner, Embraer Defense & Security, to deliver a third A-29 aircraft, as well as ground support equipment, pilot training (including difference training and instructor pilot upgrade training), contractor logistic support, aircraft sparing, and sustainment for AFSOC’s CAA mission, which helps build international partner capacity. Production of the first two A-29s under this contract is currently underway in Jacksonville, Florida, with planned delivery of the three aircraft in 2021. Training and support activities continue through 2024. The A-29 is the gold standard of light attack combat and reconnaissance aircraft and has been selected by 15 partner air forces around the world to deliver cost-effective close air support and reconnaissance capabilities. Last month, the first A-29 for the Nigerian Air Force successfully completed its inaugural flight at the Jacksonville production facility. |

kabe1: One of the unintended benefits of the insurgency in Nigeria is that it has allowed Nigeria grow to become a significant defence manufacturer in Africa, the 2nd largest in Sub-saharan Africa, and the 3rd largest in Africa behind South-Africa and Egypt.
It's a thing of joy when you read internationally recognized defence news outlets like Jane's Defence, Airforce Monthly and they refer to a military equipment as Nigerian made or Nigerian exported.
I swear, e dey sweet for body!!
The economics said of building your defence equipment locally is almost immeasurable. Jobs, cost savings, technology transfer.
Look across the board, you'll see the remarkable design progress Nigerian made military equipments have made. From Tekowi Vehicle, Igirigi APC, Proforce MRAP and LAV, bulletproof vests made in Nigeria, UAVs made in Nigeria and so on and so forth. In fact I never imagined a day will come that I'll get exhausted from calling Nigerian made military equipments. Wow!!!
With this new ship, we can already see the future, what a future Nigerian made OPV would look like. We would soon be able to sail in rough seas and high winds in a Nigerian made naval ship. The Igirigi is the first Nigerian made armoured vehicle deployed by the Nigerian army.
Launched in 2013, around 60 + units were purchased and deployed all across the country. I don't think this igirigi is still In production.. And I don't really know why I don't like it... Is it Solely developed in Nigeria or a SA copy of the "Lynx" That's from what I heard... |

It won't be easy Sha.. But you're right Tho a special operation is needed.. Starting with an intensive ISR ops.. Using possibly Drones With EO/FLIR cam pods E.g Tsaigumi UAV that can loiter for 10hours.. She's worth the try.. |

Of all the great drones in their inventory and this is what they are selling us, smh. it's preferable we start looking inwards let's shame some people..Dem don too use us play table tennis.. This is one reason I like the Navy.. Any available Shipbuilding or boat building company they make good use of them now they don't have to acquire such from outside we now have four companies supplying Top class Gunboats to the military (Epenal,Almarine(Part of John Holt) Sea wave and TUWASCO ) |

mekussa: According to the article, Nigeria's 3 drones will cost $25 million while Uganda's 2 drones will cost $20 million. The drone is said to have an endurance of 12 hours with full payload.
For a SMALL SURVEILLANCE DRONE, 8million per unit is not sweeping me too much the Drone isn't combat is it.. |

kabe1: My guess is Air Force then Navy. I know Navy are also in the market for a sea based UAV, and this fits ideally.
However, giving current environment, I think it's the Air Force.
The Air Force would go for this instead of the Tsaigumi because it needs a proven system, loiter time and urgency.
This is not to say the Tsaigumi is not a good system either. yeah you're right though... But make the CAS no fall our hand na... Make the tsaigumi proven.. It's a wonderful platform with EO/FLIR payload.. Sweet GCS And 10Hours Loitering time.. |

kabe1: My guess would be Air Force. The Air Force was supposed to get UAVs from UAE, but that deal didn't materialize.
With warmer defence procurement with the US, I think the Air Force has gone with this option from Textron.
Again, it has to be air force since they already have trained personnel. I think the air Force would go for some quite similar to the Yahbon Drone.. And the Aerosonde is nowhere near u know... My best guess is the army and possibly the navy.. My Opinion though |

kabe1: New Drone for Nigeria.
AAI Corp. gets contract to supply Aerosonde Mk4.7 for use in Nigeria and Uganda. my guess would be the Navy or army.. Both are seeking for UAVs. Why would the Airforce go for the drone against Tsaigumi. |
