Hello everyone.

I want to report the problematic dealings that I and another Nairalander have had with the user Checkout996 (Mayor Muse Folawiyo).

I made a transaction with him to purchase a smartphone, on March 17th and it has been headaches and problems since then. I was purchasing it as a gift, so I asked that it'd be delivered before the 21st of April, to which he assured me it would arrive before then.

Please note, before purchasing, I asked for his best assurances that he was legit, to which the best he could do was show me screenshots from some of his previous customers. I was desperate, seeing as all the other Nairalanders providing similar services could not purchase a device of that price, but he said he'd get it for me off Amazon instead of eBay as I had originally planned. I decided to go along with him, especially as his rates were attractive.

The 21st of April eventually came around and he said the phone had gone missing in transit, according to the shipping company, though the two accessories I bought had arrived (he later revised and said that only one accessory had ever arrived, which was a charger which I'm sure he bought locally as it was a UK plug instead of US). However, he said the smartphone was insured and he would get a refund for it.
He claims that his two Amazon accounts were locked and that that was what caused the issue.

Since then, it has been me constantly calling and messaging and getting no response 90% of the time. He claims he has been locked up, he has had to pay others, so many different excuses that make it seem that I am no closer to getting my money back.

It was during this time that I was contacted by another person who had transacted with him and was in a similar situation for a similar sum of money. In total, the man owes me N460,000.

I actually do not know how to proceed, so I would love suggestions. I know how he looks and have pictures of him. But I do not know his address and he is currently proving unreachable over phone calls and Whatsapp.

I honestly think I and the other guy have both been patient enough, as despite numerous promises to pay by 'the end of the day' or 'tomorrow', I have not received a single kobo back from him. I am honestly tired.

I don't know what can be done at this point, but note the name and numbers, so as not to fall victim to him.

I think there is a kind of mix up. @ Uniquewise was only connecting buyers with product owners. I was the one who picked up the Hisense Microwave and paid directly to the seller after confirming the product yesterday.

She only posted the items with the price given by the owner.

I believe sellers with reasonable prices would sell faster than those with unreasonable prices. The dynamics of market economics will even it all out. My problem is with the recent trend of people with no intention of buying, pricing items just to sound smart not essentially cos they need the item. As a buyer: If you really need to buy an item, by all means complain about the items that are unreasonably priced with evidence of why you think so. If they don't reconsider, then look elsewhere. The seller would get exhausted when they see they aren't attracting buyers.

Just to set the records straight, these are prices given me by the owners, I don't fix prices for them. Some of them are adamant about the prices they want for their stuff. Most times, I omit these ones from the ads. There are many items I don't even bother to advertise due to the fact I feel their prices are not Clearance Friendly, that is my prerogative.

That said, please let's be civil while calling people out; if you feel the prices are not good, make your point and move on. Don't make it a point to talk down on vendors please.

sure he delivered. Although there was issue with the delivery. Paid the driver to deliver straight to my address only for him to stop at the park. I had to spend extra 10k to get them.

I already bought new battery and oil to change the one that came with it. Although the generator is yet to start. I don't know what the issue is but I believe it's a very minor something.

This won't work on me. I claimed you raised some salient points in your first post but criticised the tone on your post. 3 weeks is indeed a whole lot of time to use a newly purchased product but she stated she put to bed and recently got out of the hospital, which makes perfect sense as to why she hasn't used it since she took custody of the MCW. I saw your chat with her and it is nothing short of disgust. I don't want to play the woman card but she is your customer before anything, whether she bought the MCW from your neighbour or you. She is hurt and aggrieved and you thought the only way to address the issue is to threaten her and publish her name when in reality you failed to address the main issue which is the fact that the item she purchased is defective.

I have no business calling you. I know how difficult customers can be but she told her side just like you did yours but you couldn't just bring yourself to act like a seller who sold a defective product, either deliberately or otherwise. As far as I am concerned, the transaction was fraudulent from the time you posted it on here. And interestingly, you seem to be more concerned about your reputation online rather than to address the issue on ground.

Madam You used bought an item.. which I helped my neighbor to sell. Full disclosures were made as to the identity of the owner. Your agent tested and you were satisfied with his report. It’s a used item and I am not direct owner nor manufacturer warranties can’t be transferred.

Stop embarrassing yourself and your family .. you don’t buy a tested item, abuse the item and come online to rant seeking public empathy on lies.... if you don’t know how to use a microwave watch a YouTube or ask fellow Nairalanders... someonne mother as you claimed should be ashamed to tell cheap lies and tarnish her husbands image!!!

You sent a dispatch who rigorously tested it and confirmed it was in a good working state. You made payment on the report of the agent you sent to pick up. Only for you to reach out after almost 3 WEEKS OF Usage to say it is faulty and that you just started using it.. madam you are a bloody fraud and you buy things from people only to blackmail them into a refund after using and abusing what was sold in good working condition.
