There are so many Russian dash-cam videos on the internet that you would think 99% of all traffic accidents happen in the Federation or that Russian people are particularly passionate about video blogging every second they spend driving around. But actually, one of the main reasons dash-cams are so popular in Russia is the high number of people willingly throwing themselves in front of moving vehicles to exploit a weird law that obliges the driver to pay for damages no matter if they are at fault or not. According to an Al Jazeera reportfrom last year, most people use dash-cams mainly to capture any instances where the corrupt policemen abuse their power for financial gains, and use the footage in court. The other and more bizarre reason is to protect themselves against crazy scammers that will throw themselves in front of cars and hustle the drivers for large sums of money by threatening to call the authorities. Most scammers will jump on to the hoods of slow moving vehicles to ensure they don’t get run over, but as you can see in the video compilation below, accidents have happened. Those who lack the courage to jump in front of cars, simply pretend to get hit by vehicles while holding old laptops or mobile phones and ask for compensation. Drivers trying to convince the judges they were the actual victims without solid evidence usually fail and are forced to pay damages, so dash-cams have become the only sure way of protection.

Blood parrots First created in Taiwan in 1986, blood parrots are the hybrid offspring of either the midas cichlid and the redhead cichlid, or a green or gold Severum with the red devil. It's a controversial fishbecause it has several anatomical deformities, including such a narrow opening for a mouth that it's difficult for them to feed. They are bred because some fish pet owners enjoy their bright orange colors.

Mules and hinnies Perhaps the most widespread and useful of hybrids are mules (from a male donkey and a female horse) and hinnies (from a male horse and a female donkey). Reputed for their hard work and strength despite their medium size, mules are dependableand often exhibit higher intelligence then their purebred parents. All male mules and most female mules are infertile, so their continued existence depends entirely on human intervention.

Narwhal-beluga hybrid Narwhals and beluga whales are the only two living species of the Monodontidae family, though narwhals are distinct in that they have a long, straight, spiraled tuskextending from their upper left jaw. Though extremely unusual, at least one hybrid between the two species has been documented from west Greenland.

Sheep-goats This cross between a sheep and a goat is rare because goats and sheep each belong to a different genus. Though matings between the two are known to occur, the offspring most often is stillborn. Even so, live births have occurred, the most famous of which happened in Botswana in 2000. Called the Toast of Botswana, the animal was infertile but it had an active libido — so active, in fact, that it earned itself the nickname of "Bemya", meaning rapist.

Beefalo Beefaloare the fertile offspring of domestic cattle and American bison. Crosses also exist between domestic cattle and European bison (zubrons), and yaks (yakows). The name given to beefalo might be the most suggestive, since the breed was purposely created to combine the best characteristics of both animals with an eye towards beef production. A USDA study showed beefalo meat, like bison meat, tended to be lower in fat and cholesterol. They are also thought to produce less damage to rangeland than cattle.

Camas A cama is a hybrid of two animals from different worlds — camels from Asia, and llamas from South America. The two species exhibit many differences, but camels and llamas are both camelids descended from a common ancestor that evolved in North America during the Palaeogene period. Camas were produced via artificial insemination to create an animal with the size and strength of the camel, but the more cooperative temperament of the llama. The unlikely fertilization was a success, but the result wasn't quite what breeders had hoped. Camas exhibit a camel-like temperament, but they are attracted to female llamas. (Proof that opposites really do attract!)

Savannah cats Savannah cats are the name given to the offspring of a domestic cat and a serval — a medium-sized, large-eared wild African cat. The unusual cross became popular among breedersat the end of the 20th century, and in 2001 the International Cat Association accepted it as a new registered breed. Interestingly, savannahs are much more social than typical domestic cats, and they are often compared to dogs in their loyalty. They can be trained to walk on a leash and even taught to play fetch.

Wholphins A cross between a false killer whale and an Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, wholphinsare hybrids that have been reported to exist in the wild. There are currently two in captivity, both at Sea Life Park in Hawaii. The wholphin's size, color and shape are intermediate between the parent species. Even their number of teeth is mixed; a bottlenose has 88 teeth, a false killer whale has 44 teeth, and a wholphin has 66.

Grolar bears The offspring of a grizzly bear and a polar bear, a grolar bearis one beast you don't want to meet in the woods. Interestingly, unlike many hybrid animals on this list, grolar bears are known to occur naturally in the wild. Some experts predict that polar bears may be driven to breed with grizzly bearsat an increased frequency due to global warming, and the fact that polar bears are being forced from their natural habitats on the polar ice

Zebroids A zebroidis the offspring of a cross between a zebra and any other equine, usually a horse or a donkey. There are zorses, zonkeys, zonies and a host of other combinations. Zebroids are an interesting example of hybrids bred from species that have a radically different number of chromosomes. For instance, horses have 64 chromosomes and zebra have between 32 and 44 (depending on species). Even so, nature finds a way.

Ligers Ligersare the cross of a male lion and a female tiger, and they are the largest of all living cats and felines. Their massive size may be a result of imprinted genes which are not fully expressed in their parents, but are left unchecked when the two different species mate. Some female ligers can grow to 10 feet in length and weigh more than 700 pounds. Ligers are distinct from tigons, which come from a female lion and male tiger. Various other big cat hybrids have been created too, including leopons (a leopard and a lion mix), jaguleps (a jaguar and leopard mix), and even lijaguleps (a lion and jagulep mix).

I’m sure you have at least one friend that claims he is a spring ofmagnetic energy, just because he can balance a spoon on the tip of his nose, but in Vietnam, this kind of phenomenon is taken seriously. Yesterday, during a ceremony to celebrate 12 years since the inauguration of the Vietnamese department for the research and study of energy, human magnets from all over Vietnam gathered in Hanoi, to show off their skills. Men and women covered with spoons, forks, dinner plates and metal weights walked around proudly, displaying their powers. The most impressive of them all was Ta Quang Thanh, who managed to keep a 42 kilogram stone slab, stuck to his body, thus breaking all national records. m.kenh14.vn/

There is a bar in Dawson City, Canada, where patrons can opt to have their liquor spiked with a very unusual ingredient – a severed human toe. Those brave enough to try the world-famous Sourtoe Cocktail are required to pay a $5 toe tax and touch the human digit with their lips without swallowing it. Last Saturday night, someone broke the rule… The Yukon tradition of downing drinks containing a severed toe dates back to the early 1970s, when an eccentric river barge captain by the name of Dick Stevenson found a human digit in an old cabin, dropped it in a glass of champagne and created the Sourtoe Cocktail. In the last 40 years, the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City has served over 52,000 such bizarre drinks to customers from all around the world. Terry Lee, the bar’s “Toe Captain”, says toes have been ingested by mistake in the past, but he never imagined someone would swallow the “gross looking thing on purpose”. To make sure that didn’t happen the bar also had a $500 fine policy for swallowing the toe, as a deterrent. The unthinkable happened last Saturday, when a man identified only as Josh from New Orleans walked into the place around closing time, and paid the usual $5 to have the toe added to a shot of whiskey. He was a card-carrying member of the Sourtoe Cocktail Club, which means he had tried the unique cocktail in the past. Terry told reporters he downed the drink fast, slurped the toe into his mouth, slammed $500 on the table and walked away. “I said, ‘Where’s the toe?’ and he said, ‘I swallowed it’ . . . I was shocked,” the bartender remembers.

Disgusting, isn't it? Such was the battle at the 9th Annual Bee Beard Competition held in Ontario, Canada where competitors covered their faces with bees to form a 'beard whilst the person with the heaviest and more aesthetically pleasing bee beard is declared the winner. Competitors placed a queen bee in a cage around their neck to attract the rest of the colony to land on their upper body. Bee keepers then help to brush on and shape the growing mass of insects into a 'beard.' After this, contestants strut their insect facial fashions on the catwalk for gathered crowds. More photos after the cut: Wondering how come the bees did not sting them? the bee keepers kept the colonies well feed with sugar water and sedate the bees with smoke before letting them amass on the contestants. Contestants were jugded based on the mass of the bees (it takes about 5,000 bees to weight a pound), the beard's style and the performance each person puts on for the audience. The 2013 winner was Justin Hiemstra, who won for having the heaviest beard, according to Ruptly.com. Marenda Schipper was also recognized for her beard's atheistic with the 2013 Judge's Choice Award. What a sport!

Soon der'll be dangers in drinkin water!!!! |
So now; Why did Madrid sell Ozil ![]() |
Goalkeepers in Spain and Europe may quiver at the thought of one of their defenders giving away a foul on the edge of the box when they face Real Madrid this season. Both Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo have proven themselves - time and again - to be lethal from set plays. In fact, Real's world-record £86million man Bale scored the most goals from outside the penalty area in Europe last season. The Wales winger is even pictured in the latest commercial for video game FIFA 14 scoring a free-kick in his white Real Madrid strip. And his new team-mate Ronaldo netted a free-kick as recently as Friday, during Portugal's victory over Northern Ireland. But there's no room for the superstars in the game's top 20 free-kick takers. Instead Borussia Monchengladbach's Juan Arango tops the chart. Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson, former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo and Barcelona maestro Xavi all make the cut, but there's no room for four-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.Bale, whose bumper move to the Bernabeu shattered the world's transfer record, is also only classed as the 17th best player on the game, produced by US company EA. Manchester City players David Silva and Sergio Aguero, as well as Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, are all placed above the 24-year-old. It isn't likely to bother Bale too much, though. He'll be looking to hit the ground running with his new club on Saturday by helping his side to victory over Villarreal if he is handed his debut by manager Carlo Ancelotti. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2416723/FIFA-14-Cristiano-Ronaldo-Gareth-Bale-20-free-kick-takers.html |
