Former Nigeria midfielder Sunday Olisehand Ricki Herbert, who managed New Zealand at the 2010 World Cup, are on the committee that picked Leo Messi as d MVP of the 2014 FIFA world Cup.... WOW!!!!.....here is the full story. The Golden Ball and other individual awards are chosen by Fifa's Technical Study Group, a 13-strong committee which analyses matches at international tournaments. The group was set up after the 1966 World Cup to monitor trends and developments in the game. Current members include former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier and ex-Hibernian boss Mixu Paatelainen. Former Nigeria midfielder Sunday Oliseh and Ricki Herbert, who managed New Zealand at the 2010 World Cup, are also on the committee, which has no British representative. Roy Hodgson was due to be invited into the Technical Study Group before he was appointed England manager. Messi set up his side's winner against Switzerlandin the last 16 but was only a sporadic threat in the semi-final against Netherlands, which Argentina won on penalties after a 0-0 draw. He then missed a clear chance in the final, when put through on goal by Lucas Biglia. World Cup 2014: Germany 1-0 Argentina (aet) highlights Messi told Spanish newspaper AS: "Right now I don't care about the prize. I wanted to take Argentina to the World Cup for all the people." Rodriguez finished as the competition's top scorer, with six goals from five games as Colombia reached the quarter-finals, where they lost to hosts Brazil. Fifa's Technical Study Group awarded the Silver Ball - for the tournament's second-best player - to Germany forward Thomas Muller, with Netherlands attacker Arjen Robben winning the Bronze Ball. Germany's Manuel Neuer collected the Golden Glove, while France midfielder Paul Pogba was named the tournament's best young player. m.bbc.com/sport/football/28294339

hello, good evening everyone! complements of the season....I wanna send an open letter out to MTN of whom i have been a loyal customer for over 9years. i have to voice my huge disappointment for the way my line has been malfunctioning. for close to 4 months, specifically late august 2013 to this very date 25th Decenber 2013.whenever i make phone calls they get terminated before my credit runs out. when i load #100 my calls terminate when my credit gets to approximately #25, or when i load #200 it stops at #80. which i would hav to restart my fone or load more credit only for it to get stuck at a higer amount. but last week friday was the just the last straw for me. i made a call to there customer care unit via 180, then a lady answered me,i told her what the issue was, then i was told that the issue has been sorted out (got this as the reference i.d- MTN1-16294278913)and to restart my phone(i use a nokia X2-01), but to my amazement everything crashed. couldn't call, text, browse not even to their costumer care! called again from another MTN line told relaid the old and new issue to them. they said the same thing again about resolving it and got this ref i.d- MTN 1-16302326930.i had to sit out over 24hours without contact for that day plus all business for that dayb crashed. it was rectied late the next day after calling them again. now it started again today christmas day 25th dec 2013. i was thinking of going to court for their incompetence(please this is not an empty statement) but I will just port in peace. maybe i might just be 1 customer in many but wild fire spreads faster than you think.at this stage i cannot make calls, text or even browse. even worse i cannot receive. it has been terribly frustrating. i'm not a fan of being on multiple networks so I basically use this MTN line for everything. this day as i type this letter i have not made or received any contact what so ever to any of my friends or business partners in anyway. publicly i place my phone number here for any MTN rep to take action. because to me it is worthless.... 08069509047... rectify it and regain ur integrity! |

Deblow: I hate this guy's guts! He talked as if he owned Nigeria! Sheer arrogance and loads of disrespect to those whose monies pay your salary! Any fault of urs? Nay! We have an insensitive government in this country so, network providers like Airtel and others can choose to hold subscribers in servitude. If not, this charlatan in the garb of a lousy customer care agent wouldn't have come here to insult the sensibilities of multitudes of subscribers just because he can speak some grammar. He bluffed too much for my liking! U claimed u did ur survey or whatever before coming out with this obnoxious transfer and u concluded it wasn't going to have any negative effects on ur subscriber base! How naive and be clouded ur sense of reasoning are! You tried, albeit in an infantile fashion, to compare ur moribund Airtel to MTN that has remained so stable and has stood the test of time. Recall how many times Airtel had been sold over each time with a change of name and yet it's still struggling to survive? I don't and won't ever use Airtel sim for anything. For ur information, the worst MTN signal is better than the best Airtel signal and so it is all over the country. A yoruba adage will say "A nroju j'eko obun, obun tun nda eko e kere" meaning we are forcing ourselves to eat the pap made by a dirty woman, yet, she makes it expensive! If truly u are a CCA, then you are a bad one and a good example of how not to be a CCA. Pple like u will bring misfortune to the organisations u represent because u don't know how to appeal to the sensibilities of subscribers who indirectly put food on ur table. If Airtel is sold again, you are doomed!Guy U gave d perfect reply but cool down na:..he might just be a kid!!!! Hehe |

Isaac Brown is a 5-year-old boy from Iowa who suffers from a rare genetic condition which makes him immune to pain, but not to the effects of his frequent injuries. Painful falls, deep cuts and other agonizing injuries that normally make children scream at the top of their lungs and cry out for their parents, don’t determine any kind of reaction from little Isaac. Even after he broke his pelvis by falling from playground equipment, he calmly acknowledged that something was wrong, but he didn’t feel pain. Isaac was born with a congenital insensitivity to pain (CIP) and, according to his parents, the first years of his life years were especially hard as the boy “would just drop to the ground and smack his face on the table. He thought the fall was fun.” Unaware of the damage he was doing to his body, he also put his hands on a working oven burner and one time cut himself with sharp pieces from a mug he had broken. His parents sought medical help but were disappointed to find that his condition was untreatable. The only advice medics were able to give the couple was to teach Isaac to recognize pain. He now knows that bleeding is bad but he is still unable to understand that there are different levels of pain which vary in intensity. While he understands that his father accidentally stepping on him is painful, he doesn’t recognize that a cat brushing against him, while it might be unpleasant to some, should not hurt. Unfortunately, Isaac’s response in both of these situations is the same “Ow” that his parents thought him to say. Photo: Carrie Brown However, when he broke his pelvic bone at the playground, the boy became aware that something was wrong, but wasn’t quite sure what. “He thought his ankle hurt,” his mother says. Because of this, she believes that “He does feel [something], but the pain has to be 20 to 30 times greater to what we would feel.” Apart from his inability to feel pain, Isaac also suffers from Anhidrosis – a rare condition that affects fewer than 100 people in the United States, which renders him unable to control his temperature or feel hot or cold. In the summer, when the temperatures are sky-high, he is forced to stay indoors or wear a cooling vest to help him lower his body’s temperature. |
Walking on fire or driving a brace of swords through your cheeks may not be activities most commonly associated with vegetarianism. But for participants of one Thai festival it's the height of religious devotion. Thailand's nine-day Vegetarian Festival in the tourist island of Phuket is a spectacular -- and bloody -- Chinese Taoist procession in which devotees purify themselves in public displays of self-mutilation. "It is not a trick, it is real, real bodies," said Chanchai Doungjit, director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in Phuket. "It is believed that pure men can walk on fire without getting burned," he said. Thousands of people, almost all dressed in white, lined the procession route on Thursday to pay their respects and receive blessings. Mediums taking part -- the majority of them men -- eschew meat for several months before the festival, which began on October 5 and will finish on Sunday. These participants believe they become possessed by spirits and, imbued with the power of otherworldly beings, are able to skewer their bodies and faces with a variety of imaginative implements, including guns, guitars and garden umbrellas. The aim is to rid the area of evil spirits and thus bring good fortune to local communities. "Even children can watch it," said Chanchai, but added that "they might find it frightening and might wonder why the mediums have to torture themselves". The Vegetarian Festival honours Chinese gods and is thought to have begun in 1825 in Phuket, which has a sizeable ethnic Chinese population. During the festival, celebrants refrain from vice and maintain a vegetarian diet. Pregnant women are forbidden to watch any of the rituals because they are considered impure. The purification festival attracts some 100,000 people, according to TAT. Half of those visiting the festival tend to be Thais from nearby provinces, with a further 40 percent from other Asian nations and 10 percent from countries further afield like Russia and Australia. "Phuket has the biggest vegetarian festival in the country," said Chanchai, adding that some 600 million baht ($19 million) is spent by visitors in Phuket province during the festivities. All eight members of the Pullan family from Delhi suffer from a rare genetic disorder called albinism which, as its name suggests, is characterized by the complete or partial absence of melanin pigment in the skin and hair. Because of this condition, Rosetauri Pullan, his wife Mani along with their three daughters Renu, Deepa and Pooja and three sons Shankar, Ramkishan and Vijay all have fair skin, white hair and light colored eyes despite being Indian. Their ghostliness is not just an aesthetic problem. It actually comes with certain undesirable medical problems. Their pale white skin makes it impossible for them to stay in the sun for too long. The lack of pigment in their eyes have left them short-sighted and Shankar was even forced to attended a school for the blind. “All we know is that we can’t see properly, and we can’t sit under the sun for long, but we live the best we can,” the family explains. Unfortunately sunburns and short-slightness are not their only concerns. There are only 17,000 people in the world who suffer from albinism and those who are unfortunate to live in less developed countries, like the Pullans, are harshly discriminated against.According to Mani, people have always treated them like outcasts because of their condition. Rosentauri says “People in Delhi are a little more open-minded, but many think we’re foreigners.” “I’ve heard people call us “angrez”, which means “English,” he explains. Jobs are especially hard to find because employers are very reluctant when they see the Pullans are different, and apart from Rosentauri, none of the other family members have jobs. But he is determined to take care of his loved ones as best he can. “It’s tough being an albino. I could never find a job, so I sell eggs, but that’s not enough to meet the needs of a large family,” he details.Rosentaturi and Mani have been together since their arranged marriage in 1983. They now live with all of their children in a humble one-bedroom flat in Delhi. Despite the countless obstacles the Pullan family has had to deal with for their entire lives, Mani believes it has also brought them closer and now calls albinism a “gift from God.” So far, they have managed to live a happy and fulfilling life raising their children to the best of their abilities. All grown up now, their kids want to have families of their own. Renu, the eldest daughter, is already married to an albino man an d has given birth to little Dharamraj, who also suffers from albinism. The oldest brother, Vijay, is also hopeful that one day he will marry an albino woman and start a family of his own.
