It's the tradition here in Bayelsa, I'm from Bayelsa and also attended that traditional marriage cos the guy is my "paddi man" back then in school. Niger Delta University. Secondly I also did similar thing during my own traditional marriage. Mostly it assume that the girl will be angry leaving her friends. But nowadays it's simply a way of making money but for some of us it's simply for the love of culture.

Funny, but this remind me of an encounter I had in road safety office.
I was arrested on the road with seatbelt offence, immediately I was booked and my driving license sized. At the office I was directed to go and make payment in the bank. As a normal guy, the fine was just 2k I decided to rush down and so I could get my license and immediately. Before I know one officer (elderly lady) ran after and was say "where you dei go? Abi you hear say that bank get service?) immediately as sharp guy I understood "the koko" don't get me wrong "it's arguably to see a free service in government parastatals" I have her the language reply in an "unedited" "don't ask me what I said" and the next thing my booking document were like "deposit tellers after you have received the alert"

Please, good friends in NL, I need spot-on advice for my friend, as I'm typing this, he is packaging his resignation letter from kaduna refining and petrochemical company KRPC for an MSC in Canada. I have exhausted absolutely my Mouth Chemistry and therefore seek for new vocabulary. However I wish not to go beyond my limit as this can also be the will of God. But humanly speaking, I think something is wrong somewhere.

Not surprised at your question though, I once had a friend that left a federal government job for his previous job in the private simply because of the normal six month work before pay. But I think later in life he might have a re-think. Back to your question, Lecturing anyday/anytime. I am a lecturer, I only go to work monday and friday's cos that's the only day I have lectures and just four hours for the combined said days. Now you know what my rest hours is used for, personal hustling with no threat from any one on my job. Can travel, can leave even at 10am. The benefits list goes on. So my brother. Weather you or your friend, #TeamLecturing#
