I think you misunderstood me. I got the scholarship. I was trying to tell one guy that I don't think there's any foul play.

That's sad. I didn't get the scholarship either. This is a highly competitive scholarship so from day one I've kept my hopes in check. The important thing now is to move on and have faith in qadar. What will be will be and when your time comes, you too will bask in victory.

I was congratulated after my interview by the protocol officer there. He suggested I should start preparing and what do you know, I got the scholarship.

We are Not upto 107 according to my maths. There are 61 of us vying for 5 avalaible positions for MSc GFM. Each of us have about an 8% chance of been selected.

Alright boss not to prolong the argument but the intent was to correct the use of the word forensic.
Here's what I got from Oxford dictionary.

I don't think a network security engineer would agree that forensic is a generic term that could mean getting information to support an action/discourse. Simply put forensic analysis isn't what you'll use here (to know what criteria was used in the ordering) but Information-gathering.

Let's assume this whole argument is behind the curtain of non-existence

Bro, if you check my earlier comments, that's why I said in this case it is a positive event (i.e no crime was committed). Nevertheless, the term forensic is generic and could be applied to a lot of things but the central theme is getting evidence to support an action or discourse. In this case, certain evidence were sourced confidentially to support the fact that the arrangement of the candidates is based on BSc/MSc grades. Most times, people think Forensics pertains to Police investigations only but it is not true. Footprinting you mentioned is an aspects of digital forensics too just as it could be used in the areas of offensive security such as computer hacking. Webster dictionary essential explain the 3 meanings of forensic as shown in the screenshot below. The good thing is that I really admire Nairaland, all of us are learning from another on this platform everyday. Cheers!

Wrong. You used the word forensic wrongly. Such analysis are only necessary where there is a crime. Obviously none of the candidates have their names on the list because of that. What you did was simply footprinting/reconnaissance. Obviously the names published are part of public information. At best you look up their social media/public profiles lol.

Bro, this is one of my fields of specialization. There are digital footprints for everybody on the Internet. But I won't disclose the details publicly for confidentiality reasons. I won't joke with the Locard's Exchange Principle even though this scenario is a positive event. Nevertheless, let's try our best to depend on GOD for success at the end of the day.

I'd disagree that the order is based on score for two reasons.
1. That won't be very much in my favor lol
2. On a serious note softwares usually sort based on creation (submission) date and time. We're seeing a list made up of either a first come, first serve or last come first serve or what you guys have alluded. This is most likely the case IMO.

Usually around june/july with the exception of last year when it came out in August because of covid. I think this years list will probably come out a week or two after Eid which should be on the 10th of July. This is purely speculative of course.
