1,000 members of ACN and CPC defect to PDP in Edo state

BENIN-no fewer than 1,000 members of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Congress of Progressive Change, CPC, including a former speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. David Iyoha, weekend, dumped thier parties for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.  State Chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, who received the decampees at a well-attended rally in Benin City, carpeted the ACN-led government in the state over what he described as its "insensitivity" to the plight of the people by alleged "over-taxation and increased school fees" adding that the party will reduce school fees if voted into power next year.  Some of the party leaders at the rally were former chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, Senator Odion Ugbesia, Paschal Ugbome, Matthew Urhoghide and Bisi Idaomi. Others include three governorship aspirants of the party, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere(rtd.) and Mr. Jacob Idinye.   Orbih said: "The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, recently listed states that are broke and Edo state was one of them. After one year of Oshiomhole's government, we came out to tell our people that the state is heavily indebted. CBN's Governor had confirmed our position.  "This state had generated more money than any government internally and also received more from the Federation Account more than past government. So why are we broke?"  "Today, the state is heavily indebted because we had borrowed so much. The situation in Edo State must be redeemed. By 2012, we will have a PDP government in the state Government House. There is recklessness in the management of our resources.   "When he came into office, he promised employment for 10,000. But today the reverse is the case. Three years into ACN government, no project had been commissioned. Things must change come 2012 in this state."

mischieviously insisting/suggesting that all the groups in the 'south south' have the same aspirations as the south east is misleading. while it's highly conceivable that the se/ss/sw/mb may end up in the same 'independence' camp, a good chunk of the ss will not agree to forming a country with the se without the inclusion of another sizable group - e.g yorubas - to act as a counterbalance to the igbos. the reality is, some groups in that region remain wary of igbos - justifiable or not - and will baulk at being part of an exclusive union with them. if yorubas are not joining an enlarged se/ss/sw country, a sharp knife will need to be taken to the map of edo/delta to split these states according to people's preferences. whoever said splitting nigeria would be easy!

That is why we need Sovereign National Conference, where every tribe will sit down and discuss thier future. If Nigeria is to be divided it might be into three i.e North, S.West and S.East, then the Minorities in Middle Belt and S.South will decide where they will belong among the 3nations. As for S.East being in the same con3 with S.West as you suggested, i dnt think it will be possible we will rather stay alone.

To you Igbo-phobians the war was about Oil, but to Biafran it was about freedom from Hausa-Fulani Muslims. The Easterners wanted to secede becos of the killings of thousands of our brothers/sisters in the hands of Hausa-Fulani Muslims not becos of the so-called oil, if you dnt know there is oil, gas, coal in Igbo land. It was Nigerians(not Biafrans) who fought the war becos of the oil and gas in the N/Delta region, Nigerians never fought the civil war becos of peace and unity, what happened in 1966 is still happening in North and Middle Belt. Hausa-Fulani Muslims are still killing Southerners(Igbo, Yoruba, Ijaw etc) and even thier closest neigbour the Middle beltans as we can see in Jos city. With the present situation of Nigeria we can now see those who fought becos of oil and those that fought for peace to reign. If you wake up in the morning alwaz pray that Boko haram(Dan Fodio boys) don't cross to S.West becos if they do, you know the out come.
