joo2018:
I don't think it matters a big deal. It is not mandatory that the account show salary payments. But it serves as an added evidence that you work with the said company. It has reflected in people's GCMS that IRCC agents consider it. When you present it, you can raise a LOE to explain the delayed salaries and include your payslips.

Thanks a great deal. I appreciate

Hello house. Thanks to all keeping this dream alive and kicking! Question from a beginner:
If your organization sometimes delays salaries for months, which will obviously be reflected in your statement of account, what do you do? Will that affect you in any way?
(PS. I dont even leave money in the salary account. Transfer most to my savings. Also have small side biz. The POF will likely be gotten from a sale of land)
Haven't started the process yet, still waiting to write IELTS 28th July. Just trying to know my options. Thanks

Youths who were displaced from their communities in Northen Borno and now finding their way back following relative calm, recently concluded a four-month football tournament.
The tournament was organised by the Army 8 Task Force Division in Monguno, with hopes that it will keep the young men positively engaged, motivated and unavailable for recruitment into terror/criminal gangs in the region. It would also serve as a form of therapy, to help them get over traumatising experiences, and return fun to their lives, as well as promoted civil-military cooperation in the counter-insurgency campaign.
I'm no football fan, but from what I witnessed in Monguno, the zeal in their practice, the interest shown, the thousands who came out to watch, some even climbing trees to catch a glimpse, well, football is indeed an amazing sport!
(P.S. The Chief of Army staff witnessed the finals when he visited the Division on an operational tour.)

So many gully erosion sites like this one are appearing and widening across the Southeast. Don't know what their leaders are waiting for. I travelled to Ovim in Abia recently, and from what I saw, I know very soon we will hear in the news that the main road linking the town to other places like Uturu has been divided into two by erosion.Too bad.

Politics / Escaped From Herdsmen, Returned Home To Graves (VIDEO) by Torkwase1(f): 7:46am On Jun 22, 2017
In Tombo- Mbalagh, a farming community on the floodplains of River Katsina-Ala in Benue state, women and children who escaped the recent attacks by invading herdsmen, returned home to the graves of their husbands and fathers who dared to stay behind to defend the community, and were killed.
This video report is the sad story of what many villages in Benue state are passing through under rampaging herders and their cattle.

Family / Re: Before You Marry A Military Man by Torkwase1(f): 4:16pm On Mar 30, 2017
Main issue is the long absence from home, and fear of casualty in battle.
There may be some promiscuous ones among them, but that's something you'll see among all other categories of people. How many Nigerian men are "chaste"? You just pray and let God keep your man for you.
Forget the toughness they depict outside, most of them (at least the officers) are very caring/romantic to their family.
You can also be sure of a big support system from the other military families around.
Bottom line, military men are human too, and they need to love and be loved.

With the police already suffering from underfunding, I wonder why the Senate will pass that bill, and create additional hole to sink scarce resources into. And the Peace corps man just couldn't wait for Buhari to assent to the bill, he had to go parading himself as self-appointed General of the corps. Too bad he has been disgraced this way. Nigeria police self no get chill, parading the man like a common criminal

Politics / Re: What I Found Out In Sambisa Forest - Ezekwesili Reveals Tour Findings by Torkwase1(f): 11:19am On Jan 17, 2017
So, all the while the military, journalists, security agencies, residents of the Northeast etc have been discussing the peculiar nature of this operation, you never bothered to understand. All you knew was to chant "Bring back our girls".
All the other thousands of people rescued from captivity, it never concerned you so long as they were not " Chibokians".... Kwantinu...
You're lucky you just hitched a ride in a surveillance plane. I wish they had dropped you somewhere inside the forest to spend some days in the trenches with the ground troops, feel the heat, dodge the bullets, dodge the landmines, listen to the unnerving music of exploding bombs, survive the mosquitoes, sleep under the stars with only one eye closed, eat the dust, stare death in the eye... Maybe you won't be so hasty to denigrate efforts and insult the personalities of soldiers.
Welcome back from Sambisa Madam

Water for troops...
Water is one of the most important things for troops in the Northeast. The harsh weather and terrain makes the demand for water very high.
Though troops must practice Water Discipline, an extra bottle, stashed somewhere, can come in handy when they have delayed stays in the bush.

Nairaland / General / Supporting Nigerian Troops With Water, And Gratitude (pics, Video) by Torkwase1(f): 5:33pm On Nov 30, 2016
For the first time ever, Nigerians are coming together to show their appreciation to troops fighting terrorism in a tangible way. Bottles of water, branded with "Thank you for your service" are being sent to troops in the frontlines, to support government provision as well as encourage those risking their lives to protect the country against terror.
The bottles of water are produced with donations from well wishers. It is the first step in a drive to raise public awareness about the need to support the national troops, especially during this period of the protracted campaign against boko haram terrorism.
It is expected that subsequently, more initiatives will be introduced, including setting up an Emergency Relief Fund, rebate/ discount on goods and services, Counselling centres for veterans, scholarship schemes for children of servicemen, etc.
Such initiatives are aimed at encouraging troops, raising morale, boosting civil-military relationship, and overall, getting better service from them.
Hopefully, each sip of water will not only quench their thirst, but fill them with reassurance that the nation appreciates their sacrifice.
#Thank a soldier today #Water For troops

We hope for more victory against Bokoharam. The war is indeed hot along border areas of countries in the Lake chad basin region at the moment- Kangarwa, Mallam Fatori, Abadam, Difa etc. We should continue praying for our troops and our country.
If Nigerian teoops and troops from the multinational joint task force conquer this region, the end of bokoharam won't be so elusive anymore.
More bullets to your guns, my friends.

I just hate seeing people biting their nails as if it's food, then you'll see their fingernails looking so short, the top flesh of the fingers left exposed, rough... When there's no excess nail to bite, they'll now be seriously searching each finger one be one for any tiny spot they can feast upon. Crazy stuff

Politics / Re: Nima Elbagir Enters Sambisa Forest With The Aid Of Security Personnel. Photos by Torkwase1(f): 2:43pm On Apr 26, 2016
This is cool, but many Nigerian journalists have been to this same place, and several other danger zones, at worse times, under worse weather, with even less security cover. You can imagine how the army will be very careful so nothing happens to a "foreign" journalist on our soil. That's something Nigerian defence correspondents don't get. I know AIT and Channels FEMALE correspondents who are always there. CNN may get all the connection and hype capabilities, but let's not just ignore our own journalists who take this risk too.

Politics / Re: Yusha'u Mahmood Abubakar Dies In Accident In Yobe by Torkwase1(f): 10:13pm On Mar 08, 2016
Maj. Gen. Abubakar died on the Damaturu-Maiduguri. His car tyre burst, vehicle sumersaulted and went up in flames. He was riding with the GOC 3 Division, who's critically injured along with the driver.
Gen Abubakar was the first Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, he was recently redeployed to serve as the Chief of Training and Operations.
I knew him to an extent, and I can only say he was a 'Soldier's soldier', an officer and a gentleman to the core; one of Gen Buratai's right hand men, he will be greatly missed.
