Nonaira1: Your dumbass. It's easier to monitor the theater sales over the sales of DVD and video streaming as the sales of tickets is easier to attest that sales of the two which spread across several middle men. That's why movie industry worldwide counts theater sales predominately over dvd sales. Nollywood on the other hand is a DVD and video streaming industry than Theater as most Nigerian movies are immediately distributed as DVD without touching the theater. Using theater sales to mointor the industry is one of the stupidest thing one person can do.
Again who is better to know wtf is going on in an industry over the people in that f2king industry. Heck even ALEX OSIFO (an old, being in the industry for years, veteran author) actually stated the same thing the young ones said. In one of his interview where he spoke of Yoruba movie industry. He stted and I "The actor said despite Yoruba movie industry being in existence before the Nigerian English films produced by the Igbos, the Yoruba movie industry has not been able to matched their English counterpart."
Between you and Trump who would know more about what's going on in his administration? Not you Between you, Halle Berry, Lupita Nyong'o, Jim Kerry, Angelina Jolie, Mike Epps, Meghan Fox, etc who would know more what's going in Hollywood? Not you Between you, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, 2 chains, Future, etc who would know more about what's going on in the Rap industry of Hollywood? Not you Like wise between you, Uche Jombo, Halimar Abubakar, etc who would know more about what's going on in Nollywood? Not you.
Really? Have you even clicked on any of the threads on NL created about Yoruba actors and actresses? What do you notice each time you check on one? Either people are asking who the Bleep they are (this are people in the country where they hail from and their movies are produced and sold) and/or it's empty as hell. Heck only that edo lady (Mercy) that plays in your industry seems to get the most views whenever a topic is made on her. If people in your country that aren't one of you are clueless on who the authors in your own industry are aka unpopular, tell your story to someone who would believe you. Even one of your author, Funsho Adeolu, made the comment " “There is no big money in Yoruba movies but I have realized that they are after knowledge, even though they are not as read as the English people.” Even one of your own, Abiodun Koya, who is supposedly well known in UK even stated that Yoruba movies turn her off due to how bad it is. Likewise even Uche jombo mentioned it is an unpopular industry in that movie industry. If people within that industry stated all that about it, who the Bleep you think you trying to fool. O your long episode again So, in a nutshell, your own definition for ' dominance' is selling hawking and selling these movies cds Wait a minute, like serious, you can't even account for who sell what or not. You claim ibo dominate that aspect ( nollywood) base on that, like WTF? We talking about the impact of nollywood movies general in the world and the quality of movies produce this one is talking about WTF is this dude OK at all so,its now about who spread or hawk movies cds and not the quality works and movies producers Lmao |

Nonaira1: Yes you do especially when it's coming from the WORDS OF THE PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY IN QUESTION. Who is best to know exactly who or what dominate that industry other than the people that is actually in the industry?
You asked me to give you the list of the gross producing movies. I did just that and informed you it is might desperate to try and attach using a list of movies added together in an industry that produces quantity of movies per year. Equally informed you it is desperate to try and use a figure that did not include the major aspect of that movie industry and only focused on movie theater which is the minor part of that industry considering majority of it's movies are direct DVD sales, not theater. You dismissed all that because you pathetically wish to be part of what you are not.
Therefore I resorted to speaking on the actors whom have spoke exactly on what we talking about. Once more in your pathetic attempt to attach, you dismiss them as "old glory" completely forgetting all mentioned are new actors and actress excluding one.
In addition quoted an unbiased individual who has been monitoring/studying that industry for more 20 years. Yet again you dismissed him and his book because it does not correlate with your delusions.
Like I said before, if Yoruba had a hand in English speaking nollywood progression, that would have equally been witnessed in your yoruba speaking movie industry despite several years of its existence. The fact I'm seeing Igbo speaking movies up here in america yet it restarted few years ago says alot. Likewise your culture would have dominated the plot of the english speaking industry and till date, it has not!!! Go make yourself relevant so you don't have to attach
I'm going to quote hayes one more time due to being unbiased in this and his been studying it for 25 years before writing his book. Why should we bother whether yoruba nollywood is know worldwide or not when we already hold it down in English nollywoodz, does that make sense at all Well your dusty articles is dated to 2008 abeg. Why not let's consider your first wiki link that states yoruba English nollywood producers, actors and directors dominate. Why dug up old stuffs O, what of these high raking nollywood nigeria movies under yoruba movie producers,director.. that made it round the world, i.e, half of the yellow sun,30 Days in Atlanta,The CEO et al Ofcourse you hatred and jealous towards yoruba tribe won't let you confess nor see that nah To top it all, anybody could have wrote that article base on the reality or oral information available as at then. God knows where you dug that old article from. But I am sure it's as old as my black bombom sef Yeye dey smell |

Inform them to stop lying ooo
Let me say it one more time. Go and make your Afonja speaking movie industry something to marvel at. Maybe then, you won't be pitifully trying to attach by force. I spoke my own.
Take your wails to Halima, Uche, Amatus, and co as well as Hayes Guild of nigeria ibo fraction of nollywood, ofcourse. So far you've failed to provide any facts to back your claim other than oral figures, and ofcourse after been expose of your wiki link you diverted the discussion and changed tone. Yes, I agree ibos have their segment but what I am saying is that ibo don't dominate anymore in production, directors among others. If you think I dey lie prove me wrong now Dude, when we talking dominance you don't just cone with oral figures,news..you come up with the numbers of procedures, directors, quality of movies(not quantity) and how much they generate, with figureeeeeeeee o |

Every tribe has its own contributions, but Nollywood is a multi-billion dollar movie industry created in 1991 by Igbo traders in Iweka Road, Onitsha who wanted to get people to buy VCDs, and it worked!.
Big ups to the Igbos! Oga, nollywood is now beyond ibo it's grown far and wide and spreads across all tribe especially among yoruba,ss and ibo. I still watch Nollywood movies so take your story to the gods. Please go and inform her that "nollywood big producer are yoruba" . Hurry up so she's stop wailing to about tribalism contributes to her poor hiring in that industry. Big producer ni, big producers ko. Funny dude! You are only arguing base on oral make-believes. Nonaira1: Why are Afonja so naturally dumb that even when they display stupidity they actually truly believe they are out doing who they are arguing with. You do realize you are making yourself look dumber by the second correct?
Nollywood was made what it is by igbo. This is a well known, undiluted FACT.
There was no igbo movies you rat until recently. Hell fEwu years ago there was a festival where they urged igbo producers to start making movies in igbo language. Igbo producers stopped producing igbo speaking movies after osofia, living in bondage, etc went viral in the 90s. Since they went past igbo audience, igbo producers/directors started doing all their movies in English. Igbo dominated the English department of Nollywood and that's a well known fact. Pick up ANY Nollywood movies from the 90s, early 20s and recently...fast forward to the end credit and read the of both the authors as well as the film crew. Only an idiot would think yoruba and Hausa played any role in Nollywood expansion. You jumped on their bandwagon that's wtf you did.
Yoruba movie industry is very much LOCAL. Heck majority of the yoruba authors and actresses posted on this forum, most people that aren't yoruba are clueless on who they are. It is equally been reported on the yoruba authors and actress make extremely little due to the lack of exposure of that movie industry hence some of then have been caught with criminal activities to survive while some are trying to break into the english movie scene as the Yoruba authors and actresses making money are in that industry. Likewise the same for Hausa industry.
The only difference is Hausa were bold enough to separate themselves from Nollywood and called themselves Kannywood. Thus, we see exactly what kannywood relevance in terms of Nollywood. Afonja on the other hand too pathetic and pitiful to separate themselves from Nollywood in order to stay relevant. That's just how pathetic you lots are. Even igbo producers that have now stated igbo speaking movies separated igbo speaking movies from the english speaking by calling it igbowood despite the english industry was/is their baby.
Afonja are the only three toof pathetic to stand by themselves. Always want to use others relevance to stay relevant. Pathetic!! And the story continue.. All these long episode with no prove nor facts to counter the the facts he provided? What is all these for, for crying out loud you failed to prove the dude wrong. Dominate in what area exactly, numbers of ibo actresses or actors? Dude, nollywood is just a title ibo gave nigeria movie industry heck that doesn't mean it belongs to ibo except you want to talk about nollywood of old with ibotic accent and title " baba nkena goes to enugu ". Things have changed abeg, infact nollywood big producers and movie makers are yorubas and SS people. Facts |

BY SAHARA REPORTERSAUG 11, 2006
Mohammed Babangida, polo player and first son of former military president Ibrahim Babangida was arrested earlier today by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from his Abuja hotel suite, sources told Saharareporters.
A source within the EFCC confirmed that his arrest was part continuation of a prolonged probe into the ownership of GLOBACOM, a telecom company owned by Mike Adenuga who was recently arrested by the EFCC.
Mohammed Babangida is alleged to posses 24% ownership in the $1.5 billion company. He had earlier been invited by the EFCC to explain how he came about the wealth used in purchasing the shares and he denied knowledge of such investments. The EFCC source said their investigation finally paid off after Mike Adenuga revealed this to the EFCC during his arrest and interrogation. Mike Adenuga had long been rumored as a front for retired General Babangida, who is unarguably one of Nigeria’s most corrupt past leaders.
When he was arrested, Mike Adenuga who was the largest donor to President Obasanjo's Presidential Library Project last year, was said to be involved in so many shady deals and illegal transfer of funds on behalf of public officials in Nigeria to foreign accounts.
Mohammed, according to our sources also owns oil blocks in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea as well as several buildings in London even though he never held a real job his entire life. Babangida is a share holder @24% pray tell us what happen to the remaining 76%? Looolx |

ODVanguard: Guy, you don come with your opata yarns. When we talk of ICT, it goes beyond buying and selling phone and computer hardware at computer village. There's the Software and Hardware side to ICT. Your people merely trade in computer hardware and parts. The software, refurbishment and repairs services section of the market also exists and is in the firm hands of the Yorubas in the same market. You guys aren't generally known for skilled trades/labour, but rather prefer to 'buy and sell' -- this can be seen in igbo general preference for trading anywhere you find them, while other tribes like Yorubas are more technically inclined (go to Ladipo, na Yorubas dey into auto servicing and repairs while your guys trade in spare parts).
Even the president of Computer and Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria (CAPDAN) at computer village, a Yorubaman by the way, said:
Everyone knows the Yorubas at computer village, asides having their own shops where they trade in computer hardware, constitute the bulk of those into phones and laptop repair services, refurbishment, and software related activities. #Fact.
No indigenous ICT firm in Nigeria comes close to Glo in stature.
Our lads don't have to open 2x2 shops at Computer Village to stake their dominance of the overall ICT sector. They already constitute the bulk of computer programmers in the country, earning top money while they're at it. From the guy that founded Andela (which was acquired by Mark Zuckerberg's wife for $24million), to wave-making Lanre Oyedokun's Big Data Startup (Delivery Science), Iyinoluwa Aboyadeji's Flutterwave, Adetunji Adegbesan's Gidi Mobile, and Shola Akinlade's Paystack were all accepted into Google's LaunchPad Accelerator at the same time -- all 4 of them are the only Nigerian tech startups accepted into the program and have attracted no less than a million dollars a piece in funding. Most of the promising startups in the IT sectors of the Nigerian economy, attracting heavy funding and FDI, are Yoruba-owned. And not just that.
Check the list of Nigeria's top programmers as compiled by Github, and see those that dominate the list:
