The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State said it has printed and distributed 250,000 copies of audio and video recordings of the details of how the June 21, 2014 governorship election was allegedly rigged in favour of Governor Ayodele Fayose.

A statement by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Taiwo Olatubosun, said the recording revealed a grand conspiracy coordinated by some officers of the Nigerian Army.

According to him, the party took the step to let the world know the truth about Ekiti election ‘miracle’ where “a governor, with unrivaled sterling performance, failed to win a single local government out of the 16 in the state, including his own, to give victory to a man, who two years earlier, lost a senatorial election in the state.”

The statement said, “Details of corrupt practices by soldiers as contained in the tape lends credence to the inclusion of the military as a defendant at the Ekiti State Election Petitions Tribunal, challenging the return of Fayose as the winner of the election.”

“In the tape secretly recorded by Army Captain Sagir Koli, voices of the participants in the election‎ fraud were heard talking about operational details and giving instructions on how to help Fayose win the election. Koli went on exile after releasing the tape.

“Another group, an NGO, had two weeks ago produced 200,000 copies and distributed them around the world with copies sent to the United Nations, African Union and ECOWAS secretariats.

“Nigerians and indeed decent people of the world will hear of how a Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army was thoroughly disgraced by brigands and lawless individuals in PDP who should ordinarily quiver when an army corporal gives orders.

“Nigerians will hear a Brigadier-General talking of how he set up “Strike Forces” to be unleashed on APC leaders and supporters to cow them to submission to ensure victory for Fayose.

“It is a pity and tragedy of our history that a man who is supposed to be in chains and drilled in frog jump by a Nigerian Army recruit for his crime is the one assuring a serving Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army of promotion if he could help PDP in the dishonourable enterprise of poll fraud in favour of a man with several alleged criminal cases in courts.

“Nigerians will hear Fayose and other co-conspirators talking and boasting that the top echelons of the Nigerian Army and their Commander-In-Chief were the chief executioners of Ekiti poll fraud. The world will hear Fayose talking about how he collected soft copies of INEC’s sensitive election materials and got them printed to give him victory.”

The APC spokesman said the revelation by Fayose that he collected soft copies of INEC sensitive materials and got them printed had confirmed the party’s claim that photochromic papers were used to fix Ekiti election in his favour.

Olatubosun urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to allow voters bring their cameras to polling centres on election day to record full election procedures to guide against those still bent on fraudulent practices at the polls.

The United States government has thrown its weight behind the Independent National Electoral Commission to use the Permanent Voter Cards and the Smart Card Readers in the March 28 and April 11 elections.

The introduction of the PVC and the card reader for use in the general election has been a subject of hot debate and several litigation in Nigeria.

The American government on Wednesday through its Vice President, Joe Biden, spoke with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, of the Peoples Democratic Party and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on the forthcoming presidential election.

On Thursday, in a statement issued by the US Embassy in Nigeria and made available to our correspondent, the US Vice President commended President Jonathan and General Buhari for signing the Abuja Accord in mid-January as a show of their commitment to non-violence throughout the election process.

The statement read in part, “The Vice President further expressed the United States’ support for the Nigerian Independent National Electoral Commission and its work to deliver free, fair, and credible elections, in part through its essential efforts to distribute Permanent Voter Cards and help ensure that electronic voter card readers are in place and fully operational.”

Biden also noted his concern about the violence during some recent election-related events and re-emphasised the need for both presidential candidates to make clear that such violence has no place in democratic elections.

The US vice president stated further that the American government would stand with the Nigerian people in support of credible and peaceful elections, and would continue to stand with the Nigerian people whatever the outcome of the presidential poll.

Renowned Political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, has urged Igbos and Nigerians at large to vote for the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), whom he said would restore hope to Nigeria.

Utomi, who is a founding member of the Ndigbo Lagos group, said Igbos have been branded as people who sell their votes to the highest bidder. He, therefore, urged the people of the South-East to vote wisely in order to shed this reputation.

Utomi said this during the unveiling of a Pan-Igbo group, Igboekulie, in Lagos on Wednesday.

While fielding questions from journalists at the event, he said Buhari’s ascendancy can be likened to what happened in the United States in 1981 when the Americans were disenchanted with the Jimmy Carter administration with inflation as high as 29 per cent.

He added that it took the oldest man to run for Presidency in the United States, Ronald Reagan, to turn things around and revive the American spirit.

He said, “I think Nigerians don’t have any alternative in the person of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. I refer to him from my writings as the Buhari ascendancy. That reminds me of what happened in the US when I lived there with President Ronald Reagan.”

“We had one wonderful, nice guy called Jimmy Carter as President. Things went so awfully wrong. Inflation was 29 per cent.”

ABUJA- PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDPPCO Wednesday asked the nation’s Department of State Security Service, DSS and security agencies to as a matter of urgency, arrest and question the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, retd and the National leader of the opposition party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu over the existence of an illegal radio station called “APC Radio or ” Radio Chanji” being used to incite Nigerians against President Goodluck Jonathan.

Addressing Journalists Wednesday in Abuja, Director, Media and Publicity of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani- Kayode also called on the Security agencies to go after Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State; former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and former Nigeria Ambassador to Spain, Ambassador Yusuf Mamman.

According to Fani- Kayode, it became imperative to arrest and question them because the radio station has been broadcasting what he described as falsehood, propaganda as well as inciting comments periodically over the last few days and since its inception, adding that the PDP knows what Buhari, Tinubu, Amaechi are doing anytime even in their toilets, bedrooms, covens and where they hold their secret meetings.

The Director, Media and Publicity also accused the APC of budgetting a total of 2 million dollars to put in place a documentary titled, ” Nigerians… What is Going On” designed to among others, discredit President Goodluck Jonathan, the Ministers, his aides, the government and the entire country, adding that the services of no less than three specialists and well known international spin doctors from two western countries were procured.

Fani- Kayode who noted that President Jonathan would cover up corrupt persons by asking that fifty percent of the illegally acquired wealth be returned, stressed that if re- elected the president would go after corrupt persons to ensure that every single one who stole the nation’s money would be brought to book.
