the diamond of darkhold “It wasn't because they had extraordinary powers, really, but because of how well they used the ordinary powers everyone had: the power of courage, the power of kindness, the powers of curiosity and knowledge.” |
the people of sparks “Lina couldn't sleep at first, thinking of the old songs and what they meant. Someone, long ago, had hoped that at least a few people would survive and had wanted them to remember her city and the treasure it held, the treasure that was most valuable of all - herself, her family, and all of the generations of people who had lived in that secret place, their purpose, though they didn't know it, to make sure that human beings did not vanish from the world, no matter what happened above.” |
The . . . students occupied Room 8 of the Ember School. On Assignment Day of the year 241, this classroom, usually noisy first thing in the morning, was completely silent. |
the city of ember When the city of Ember was just built and not yet inhabited, the Chief Builder and the Assistant Builder, both of them weary, sat down to speak of the future. "They must not leave the city for at least two hundred years," said the Chief Builder. "Or perhaps two hundred and twenty." "Is that long enough?" asked his Assistant. "It should be. We can't know for sure." "And when the time comes," said the Assistant, "how will they know what to do?" "We'll provide them with instructions, of course," the Chief Builder replied. "But who will keep the instructions? Who can we trust to keep them safe and secret all that time?" "The mayor of the city will keep the instructions," said the Chief Builder. "We'll put them in a box with a timed lock, set to open on the proper date." "And will we tell the mayor what's in the box?" the Assistant asked. "No, just that it's information they won't need and must not see until the box opens of its own accord." "So the first mayor will pass the box to the next mayor, and that one to the next, and so on down through the years, all of them keeping it secret, all that time?" "What else can we do?" asked the Chief Builder. "Nothing about this endeavor is certain. There may be no one |
oh, ok. benin republic. |
a yoruba man from benin? ![]() any such person is a bini man, not yoruba. |
i just went through the wiki pages of soyinka and ojukwu, and there's no record of them meeting before 1967 when he visited ojukwu to discuss the war. soyinka schooled in abeokuta while ojukwu spent his early years in lagos, and was sent to england at age 13 [in 1946]. ojukwu returned to nigeria in 1956 [age 23], while soyinka moved to england in 1954 [age 20]. did they meet in england or before then? ![]() i guess there's something i'm missing. |
@ topic In his tribute, the chief host, Chief Sunny Odogwu, recalled that his relationship with the late Ojukwu started when “we were both under nine years of age and continued without interruption until our creator temporarily parted us.”http://odili.net/news/source/2012/mar/2/509.html one of these days, all these secrets and loose ends will be straightened out sha. |
this anyway, na your life. |
here's an interview from his son: http://odili.net/news/source/2012/mar/2/506.html he seems to confirm the impression that bianca is the only widow, although he had relationships with many women. oh well, he was a typical naija man i guess. |
But yes, i suppose you could try to bottle pepper. Assuming it doesnt lose its spicyness in the process. Maybe put it in oil? ![]() |
Tomapep used to be very spicy back in the day. Not sure if its still produced anymore. |
As long as the engineering program of a particular university is accredited by the govt approved accrediting board, then just choose the one you prefer (if they admit you), based on your own criteria like location, convenience, preference, etc. |
Like the coward you are, you only make mouth when you think there's no male present. Cursed human trafficker and drug dealer. |
Sometimes you can tell and sometimes you cant, if the guy is an accomplished deceiver. However, if you're only one of his many girlfriends, then that's a clue. |
Where did they meet? Did soyinka live in lagos as a child? |
Here we go again. Hope the connection between north boko haram and south boko haram is now quite clear. |

@ topic no biggie. Where's that thread from last year about husband finding ministry which nigerians opened in kenya. It was so funny. |
Here we go again. Hope the connection between north boko haram and south boko haram is quite clear now. |
Also, reduce your use of oil and use healthier versions like olive oil, etc. Though the taste might be a bit different from the usual. |
Eat more brown than white rice, substitute honey for sugar (try to cut out processed sugar completely from your diet), etc. Its very difficult but sometimes necessary. Not sure brown rice is available in nigeria actually- maybe ofada rice can substitute. |
