Onlytruth:
They did themselves a favor, so why should I thank them.
wrong of you to say that.

the civilized thing to do is recognize their presence and thank them for being there.

"Just to give you a general idea," he would explain to them. For of course some sort of general idea they must have, if they were to do their work intelligently – though as little of one, if they were to be good and happy members of society, as possible. For particulars, as every one knows, make for virtue and happiness; generalities are intellectually necessary evils. Not philosophers but fret-sawyers and stamp collectors compose the backbone of society.

i'm yoruba nah.

didnt grow up in VI but was raised "ege" ie ajepako.

what's this real yoruba talk- did someone offend you? lol.

the most vocal anti-igbo or anti-whatever posters on nl are also the ones with majority igbo/non-yoruba friends and in-laws, imo.
Family › Re: Must A Girl Sleep Around To Make Ends Meet. by tpia5: 12:30am On Mar 04, 2012
some girls feel they have no other option but it just boils down to the individual.

if you can handle the shame of poverty and trust God to take care of you, sleeping with someone for money isnt necessarily the only choice.

also, people have long memories, so think well before you act, if your personal ethics arent based on such lifestyles.
Politics › Re: Ojukwu Funeral: A Vote Of Thanks; The Way Forward by tpia5: 12:22am On Mar 04, 2012
why did jerry rawlings feature so prominently in ojukwu's burial?

just wondering.

were any other past african leaders there?
Politics › Re: Suggestion To Nairaland Owner (seun Osewa) by tpia5: 12:08am On Mar 04, 2012
seun can keep the beta version as an option, for those who prefer it.

isnt that what yahoo does every so often?
Education › Re: Which Nigerian University Is The Best To Study Engineering? by tpia5: 12:03am On Mar 04, 2012
btw hope the offer is kosher, because someone is currently spaming the forum with teaching vacancies.

definitely up to something.
Education › Re: Which Nigerian University Is The Best To Study Engineering? by tpia5: 12:01am On Mar 04, 2012
engineer doesnt necessarily = inventor, any more than other disciplines.

most inventions are the result of hard work and years of experience, not people going to "inventing schools" to learn "inventing".

just my two cents.

and thanks for the job offers though.

always good to know people are willing to help.

Politics › Re: Igbos In Abidjan Honour Ojukwu! by tpia5: 11:27pm On Mar 03, 2012
Ivorien President, Felix Houphouet-Boigny, now late, had named central part of Cote d’Ivoire “Cartier Biafra”
another relocation of biafra.

first recorded in guinea (?), then central america (not sure which was first), then central africa somewhere around the congo basin and/or cameroon, then cameroon, south of zamfara/kwararafa, then eastern nigeria, now ivory coast.

He might never have a settled relationship throughout his life cos He started wrongly
some people live their entire lives this way, and might actually prefer it.

it depends on personality sometimes.

they also feel it gives them control when they're not in a settled relationship with anybody.

i think it stems from a fear of women or some type of childhood trauma, familial/culture based attitude perhaps.
Politics › Re: Prof. Wole Soyinka Describes Ojukwu As His Childhood Friend. by tpia5: 11:17pm On Mar 03, 2012
If Soyinka was in England as at 1954, then he could have met Ojukwu as Ojukwu only left England in 1956, although I wouldn't use the words, "childhood friend" to describe the relationaship.
why would a relationship between them be kept a secret until now? huh

people assumed soyinka was sympathetic to the biafran cause for humanitarian or political reasons, not because of previous ties with ojukwu.

the op is just chasing the wind.

at some point, people will start to evaluate what they themselves are bringing to a school instead of just what the school is bringing to them.

if you're waiting for a school to "polish" you, then I'm afraid it may be very difficult for the school to do so.
