Google Starts Removing Search Results Under Europe's 'Right to be Forgotten'

Search Engine Updated Technical Infrastructure Overnight to Start the Implementation

The Internet is starting to forget.

Google Inc. GOOGL +0.16% on Thursday started removing results from its search engine under Europe's new "right to be forgotten," implementing a landmark May ruling by the European Union's top court that gives individuals the right to request removal of results that turn up in Internet searches for their own names.

Google engineers overnight updated the company's technical infrastructure to begin implementing the removals, and Thursday began sending the first emails to individuals informing them that links they had requested were being taken down. The company has hired a dedicated "removals team" to evaluate each request, though only a small number of the initial wave of takedown requests has so far been processed.

"This week, we're starting to take action on the removals requests that we've received," a Google spokesman said. "This is a new process for us. Each request has to be assessed individually, and we're working as quickly as possible to get through the queue."

Anybody naming names on such threads should be banned and they should deactivate their accounts.

Seun the site owner is the only person who should have authority to start a thread for awarding anything, That way he can be held directly responsible for what goes on in his site.

The mods on this site need to be told what their responsibilities are as mods and how they should conduct themselves.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Most Notorious Nairalanders by tpiah2(op): 3:49pm On Dec 26, 2013
Anyone starting an award thread should be banned immediately and the thread deleted.

This trend was started by jarus few years back and is nothing more than witchhunting of opponents and slander.

3. Mazi omenuko

He posts too much p.orn, in literature instead of sexuality section, that is supposed to be against the forum rules.

He is a bully and has opened threads to slander other nlers, also against forum rules.

Kindly set up a panel to investigate these allegations.

Aluu style attacks should not be tolerated here.

We do not need threads harassing other members and whoever wants to buttlick anybody can do so privately, not on the general forum since they are not the only ones here.

These so-called award threads are unnecessary and contribute nothing useful to the forum, but rather, work against it.

1. HumbledbyGrace

Extremely arrogant and most hated on the forum.

She needs to change her ways or go somewhere else. Her gang mentality is out of place in a civilized setting.

She is very bitter at being moved from the religion section, therefore she is lashing out and determined to destroy the site.

Now, why she cant face those who queried her but is instead fixating on me like she is not the one causing her own problems, needs to be addressed. I do not bother myself who is moderating what, whoever wants to list moderator as their life achievement, thats their own concern.

Insightful posts, most open minded, pro-progress and anti- ignorance, etc etc.

Does not hesitate to call out those who are pulling down the site.

why do people just display their instability on nairaland so badly? You're not the only ones on the site, stop dragging it down.

MALE CATEGORY:

By popular vote, Pipsland78 wins.

This moniker earned it the hard way; he opened a number of threads in travel section claiming he got a visa to the US, and asking for help and advice on how to get there and what to do. According to him, he is a lecturer (one has to pity his "students" ) and the entire nl community is discussing his wining this award of most unpopular and controversial nairalander. Looks like he is the most illiterate too.untire NL community discussing him. From his e-relationship with safarigirl (maybe he wanted south african papers as well) to blatantly insulting folks in here with out giving a hoot. And I dont even want to mention when he decided to retire his own moniker in frustration.

safe journey as you travel out of the shores of nigeria, and good luck!

try to be less controversial thought, oyibos dont like smartasses.

FEMALE CATEGORY

And the winner in the female category is safarigirl!!

This moniker has got it all: anger, hate, bad mouth, envy and trash talk just to mention a few. A detailed research through her posts shows she's got no sweet words for no one; she sees nothing good in anyone unless they are dead bodies. She's always ready and willing to give you a dose of insults even without asking for one. As a psychologist, my take is she badly needs a man in her life - real fast.

Feel free to join the conversation.

Makbo:
Ivorian Southeners are Akan people rooted in Ghana. They share the same culture, the same name and whatever. Names like Appia, Attah, Kouao, Ossey, Aka, Kwame, Koffi are very common in both the countries. Only the spelling differs. That shows how complex is the ivorian crisis. Those like GEJ who are advocating military force use in IC don't know what they would ignite. Nigeria troops in IC would be an outright mistake GEJ should be accountable for.
it's amazing how few intelligent humans there are like you on nl.

what we usually see are a bunch of daft misfits who got dashed a visa somewhere, and they somehow think receiving a visa automatically confers intelligence and common sense.

thanks for your explanation.

yorubas say abo oro la nso fomoluwabi.

i knew there were people of ghanaian origin in ivory coast, and i suspect the sabre rattler is one of them, hence it's rather hypocritical of him to start threatening immigrants.
