Helinuse: The moment Nigeria opened her doors for private entities to own Universities, Polytechnics, College of Education, Colleges of health, etc. I knew Nigeria was in for a very long thing.
🤣🤣🤣
Now, any landlord with 3 empty rooms can declare it a college of health 5 empty rooms can declare it a college of education 2 buildings can declare it a polytechnic 4 buildings can declare it a university 😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣 Quality assurance has gone to the dogs |

casualobserver: And in defense of lautech and some of the state universities that were established in the 1980s. Many of the pioneering staff came from the established universities often part time. Many of them would moonlight at state universities as a service to their states of origin as well as to make some extra money. So those who attended state universities in the 80s and 90s would have also benefitted from top lecturers trained at Ivy League universities . The pioneer VC of lautech was a distinguished elite professor. O.L Oke. So many state universities at that time would have benefitted to a large extent from the same high quality lecturers in the tier 1 universities. The problem with the universities today is the caliber of lecturers that replaced the those early pioneers. Is there still a tier one as such? If we talking about the first generation ones as tier one, then they aren't doing well, except UI and maybe UNILAG that are managing. Look at Ife, that one is a sorry story, UNN is hardly different or ABU sef |

The 50's, 60, and early 70's were the good old days. I remember my prof told us he could afford a brand new car as an assistant lecturer or lecturer ii back then. Imagine, someone probably without a PhD yet. He said he couldn't now, this was a Deputy Vice Chancellor oo The problem is the quality, as you have mentioned, has continuously dropped over the years. You see the last 10, 15 years? it has actually been a disaster.💯 The drop in quality is scandalous. There are still some good ones around, but those average and terrible ones have overcrowded the system |

Ghostagain: Bro, I think most Nigerian lecturers don't publish much. Even the PhD in Nigeria is not really research based. Nigerian universities are mostly bad at research.
But I believe some Nigerian medical universities do good research. But they should unless you're a teaching professor, but we don't have that in Nigeria. |

casualobserver: Oga that you were taught by someone from Cornell does not make it the norm in lautech or any university in Nigeria today. In my days ALL our lecturers were from Ivy League universities. They wouldn’t employ you in the pioneer universities otherwise. I apologize for using lautech, it wasn’t directed specifically at LAUTECH. I could swap it with most universities in Nigeria today. These days you employ who is available to employ and will accept the pittance of a wage they pay because the very best don’t see education as a career option.
I know it is hard for many to understand. If you have no experience of better, you think what you have is the best. Those who have experienced the best on the other hand can never rate anything less. Hello, I was not saying it's the norm. Take it easy. I graduated quite long ago. Otherwise, you seem to know how our oldest universities used to function back then. Back them, it was the best, sound lecturers. These days, some lectures are just plain terrible. I have seen them. Sometimes, I shudder to think that these are the lecturers that will teach my kids. Seriously, I am scared. That standard has dropped EXPONENTIALLY. Imagine an academic doctor can't write an abstract. Now people finish PhD, no published papers, like did you just come up with something controversial like Einstein that no paper reviewer would allow for publication. PhD holders can't design simple experiments using CRD, RCBD, factorial etc. The kind of watery papers that people use to collect professorship will make you cry. Low quality publications in non-scopus Journals. I know of a professor who can't write a paper to publish on her own. As in, I know. 💯 |

casualobserver: My academic qualifications are irrelevant. This is the internet I can say anything. Judge what I say by the substance of what I post. Is what I am saying right or not, on the internet that is what matters.
Kperogi is a mediocre in the eyes of those who understand what standards are. You are free to believe what you want.
Pick any name of the list of professors I gave earlier. I will give you a detailed cv of his reach internationally. I will find academics from the top universities who have referenced his publications in their papers. That’s how you know people of caliber.
I am sorry your opinion doesn’t matter. Facts don’t lie
Pick up my challenge and browse the internet and give academic papers, conference papers, research papers from reputable professors and academics ABROAD that have cited Kperogi. That’s the ultimate measure of your caliber or mediocrity in academia. Your opinion is no different from mine or that or an okada rider, it’s irrelevant. What makes the opinion valid is the ability to back it up with facts. What is relevant is being able to show, this academic from this reputable university cites Kperogi as his source. You will struggle. And that’s how you know a mediocre academic.
The truth doesn’t care what “you stand for” especially if you can’t back it up.
You are professor who presents a paper at an international conferences of the worlds best in your field in a reputable elite university or environment is not the same as a professor who presents a paper at a conference in ladoke Akintola university where your audience and peer reviews are local equally mediocre academics. ...in ladoke Akintola university where your audience and peer reviews are local equally mediocre academics. You angry, bro 😲 This is a little below the belt na. No doubt, we are no longer were we used be. I was taught by someone who has an MSc from Cornell University, and holds an American patent. For those who don't know, Cornell is Ivy league, and a usual suspect in top 7 list in America. Let's just cut Farooq some slack. There are some circles he cannot enter, he knows, but I'll still accord him some respect. But that him University ranking low die sha 😲 |

Visit the CBN website to know about the real programme. You can start from here if you want to know about the real thing. https://www.cbn.gov.ng/DFD/agriculture/ABP.htmlIf you have paid any money, sorry you have been scammed.
