PoliticsRe: Dear Tinubu: On Subsidy Removal by Tradegood(op): 9:39pm On Apr 19, 2023
ArcFresky:
Bringing development is not by wishful thinking or planning.

The govt is just part of the problem.

The people are the main problem.

We Nigerians are very greedy.

Remember when Buhari closed border to stop importing rice, so he can encourage local production.
I can't remember the exact price, but local rice was always 10-20% lesser than foreign rice.

But Because foreign rice became very expensive, local producers decided to increase theirs, instead of remaining at status quo.
Look at POS business... is it not still the people?

I know our leaders are terrible, but even if govt sets a policy, are Nigerians ready to abide?
look at UK students, round tripping currency.. how would the economy grow?

In the 90's or early 2000's govt launched different petrol scheme's for Commercial and Private vehicles to reduce transport cost... Private owners bought fuel from commercial owners.

However I agree with your thought of not removing subsidy, I believe he should put in-place palliatives, like subsidizing Mass transits, but you see at the end of the day, its the people like the private car owners, or the rice farmers, that will determine if it will work or not.
Check my write up well, I no talk say make e no remove am o

however you choose to look at it, a very large church of our budget is allocated to subsiding petrol. They're just looting money in the name of fuel subsidy.
I get what you are saying.

But you can not just remove faulty pillars all at once from a building, the house go scatter.

Resuming office, and then just removing subsidy first is surely not a step on the right direction.

Why must subsidy removal be the very first agenda? It is why I loved Dora Akunyili, orientation matters.

Re-orientate the people's mind first.

PoliticsDear Tinubu: On Subsidy Removal by Tradegood(op):
Subsidy removal.
Alot of people argue that it is a good thing and some others say it is not a good thing.

You can do a right thing in a wrong way, or wrong timing and create more discontent among the already disillusioned many,

or you can simply do the right thing in a right way and at the right time, and march in sync with the people of Nigerian.

Bring development and economic relief first before subsidy removal.

Instead of making the subsidy removal the first thing your administration does, why not make it one of the last things?
It is the same thing.

People who want to see you fail will say it is not the same thing.

Bring development, economic relief and succour to the people first, then remove subsidy later.

Do not let the line up of costly buildings along the streets of Abuja or Islands of Lagos deceive you.
Visit the nooks and crannies of Nigeria instead!

Nigerians have gone through and are going through a whole-economic-lot to put food on their tables.

Go to the nooks and crannies of Nigeria to see the abject poverty that exists.

Remove subsidy last and not first.

Carry out orientation programmes through our airwaves and social media for some years of your administration to prepare the people's mind for the seemingly emminent (abeg, this spelling correct?) subsidy removal

I am telling you the man on the street has no idea about the consequences of subsidy removal.

No shock Nigerians Sir.
Surprise us in a good way that Nigerian politicians are just seemingly incapable of doing.

Remove subsidy last, not first.

Infact, the mention of "AND FCT" was deliberate to give Abuja the status of a state during elections. Normally, Abuja is not up to the standard of a state as it doesn't have what it requires to be a state, but just incase a candidate has 25% in 23states and Abuja and there's argument that Abuja will not count coz it's not a state.. Unfortunately, what was made to raise Abuja to the level of other state has been misinterpreted to mean Abuja is above the other states and has the be treated specially.

The two "and" are playing same role.

It is like listing all the states,
"Abia, Adamawa, Anambra Akwa Ibom, ...and then ending it with ...and FTC. It is a list of states.

But instead of always listing all the states every time, you would rather summarize and say, "the 36 states and FCT"

It is not a conditional statement.
Na summary of the list of states.

Do not behave like thieves.

You have their next of kin details, contact them.

And even if you don't have it, it is still not an excuse,
Publish the account holders names and details in newspapers and ask their kith and kins to come forward with proof.

This can be done in batches.

E be like say "Obedient" na experiment.

2) For your info sha, whether that statement above is right or wrong,
The system backing obedient, if it had been enthroned on our beloved land, would have been "Buhari Pro Max".

They deceived the Fulanis and enthroned Buhari and then now wanted to come and deceive the Igbos to enthrone a system wey GOD never talk say e time don reach.

3) Dear electorate, just as you had the right to vote a candidate based on personality and not party.

"36 states and FCT" is a clause.

PoliticsHaba! This 25% Spread Is So Easy To Understand Naah! by Tradegood(op):
25% spread in the required number of states and the FCT is not rocket science naah.

In simple English,

it simply means if a candidate gets 25% spread in the required number of states,
and the FCT IS ONE of the states,
you cannot now come and say to the candidate, "FCT is not a state, so a win in the FCT does not count for you".

The law is saying it will count. FCT is a state.
Dazzall.

That clause was just simply trying to validate FCT as a state.
Not that it is a "by fire by force" must win state.

It was just a validation something nii!

So, if you get 25% spread in the required number of states and FCT is not among, nothing spoil. You still win.

And as many people don talk tire for this forum, another section of our constitution validate this explanation wey I just knack give you so.

Na one guy first explain this thing concerning "and" usage here. But I don forget him moniker.
GOD come throw full light on the matter.

JJuanMiguel:

That statement na summary of the list of states.

You need to know that in English, contextual rules exist too.
