Brilliant idea..! But the thing with me is.. both accounts I use on 2go are unverified. I even quitted 2go ages ago but for this admission issue, I had to return yesterday.

If you got above 50, start praying for a miracle. And like Trafford said, a high score is no a guarantee for admission.

yes o. Bro, U can imagine.. A guy posted he saw someone with 86 in screening.. 77 or so as aggregate. Imagine how many more are like that. Hnstly, sometimes.. I might have an idea on what d cutoff range might be, but I just cant say cuz hnstly, I dnt wanna say something that'll make anyone mad at me..probably cause his/her score doesn't fall into that range.

So let's just patiently wait for the Merit list..keep praying and hope for the best.. we'll All be there.. I believe... I strongly do

Dat Uniben doesn't give one his desired course.. That doesn't mean one should reject it.. One can make the best out of whatever course one is given.. This is NIGERIA for God's sake.. The Land of many possibilities..lol, but true

Okay engineering aspirants, lemme say a thing or 2 about you guys.. I hope you get my point.

I remember last year when I checked n I saw 58..I applied for Law actually, n deep down inside.. I felt it might not be good enough to grant me that course, still I was optimistic I'd get a good course. I had classmates who applied for engineering, some scored 53..some 51.

N for some reasons, they envied me cuz they thought I had a higher chance of securing admission. Looking at both scores..you'd think so too ..right? It actually was our first jamb, postume.. So we really didn't know whatsup, you may call us.."novice".. Yea yea! I become the one encouraging them "guy no fear, as far as una cross 50 so, something must dey for una.. Trust me"

Lo and behold, August 3rd..I remember, I checked my status.. What did I see? "not admitted"... I felt okay.. My score wasn't the best afterall.. I reached them.. "oboy! How far na.. Uniben no gimme" guess what? I became "the encouraged"... Remember I was the one encourging them at first, why did it change now? Because they were admitted!

Yes! With their 53, 51.. They weren't just admitted.. But their names came out in the Merit list..n yes! They got their desired courses! One went for Computer engineering, n d other went for Mechanical Engineering.. I think

while with my 58, I kept waiting for 2nd batch, then the "hidden 3rd batch".. Yes! There is a hidden 3rd batch, but that isn's something one should pray for..trust me.

I waited, I prayed, I fasted, I hoped cuz I believe.. My "58 is good enough for a course, even if it's an educational course, Uniben..please consider me".. But Uniben kept telling "Son, we have nothing for you, you are not good enough".. The truth was staring at me right on the eyes, but I had to wait till Feb where the Matric was held to realise truly, its over. But Thank God for the journey so far this year. U know, sometimes..I look back at the past.. N the one thing I tell myself is.. I'm glad all that happened..believe me.

Well, I guess you get my point now, don't go about comparing your scores especially with those who aren't in the same department with you. You never can tell the general performance in a particular department.

And one thing I noticed about engineering is.. It isn't really competitive as people think compared to some other courses sha o. And at the same time, things are difficult there. I guess that explains the "low" scores you see.
So don't look at your 59, n see someone else with 64(especially in another department) and think s/he have a higher chance than you. Hell to the NO! And because you think you scored "high".. It doesn't end there. They are many out there hiding their scores..n don't think it's because its low n they are ashamed of it..No no, they have their reasons.

Yes! Nairaland is big enough, but don't make the mistake of trying to acertain any cutoff from the scores you see here.

That you scored 100/100 or "odo"/100 isn't a yardstick to misbehave or think "finally".. Continue with your prayers..n I believe the GOOD LORD who started it would surely complete the testimony

Mcslize: UNIBEN MERIT LIST WILL BE RELEASED UNFAILINGLY BY LAST WEEK OF AUGUST

REASON: N.U.C HAS GIVEN ALL UNIVERSITIES THE ULTMATUM TO ROUND OFF EVERYTHING ABOUT ADMISSION LATEST OCTOBER. AND AS WE ALL KNOW, THE ADMISSION LIST WILL COME OUT IN TWO STAGES.


FIRST THE MERIT LIST THAT WILL CONTAIN ONLY THOSE THAT THEIR ACTUALLY COURSE IS GIVEN. THAT MEANS ANYBODY WHOSE NAME IS NOT FOUND IN THE MERIT LIST WIL BE GIVEN ANOTHER COURSE ENTIRELY IN THE 2ND LIST THAT WILL LATER BE RELEASE SHORTLY AFTER THE MERIT LIST. SOMEWHERE SEPTEMBER THE 2NF LIST WILL BE RELEASE. THAT LIST WILL ONLY BE MADE UP OF THOSE THAT WILL BE GIVEN OTHER COURSES RATHER THAN THE ONE THEY PUT IN FOR.


LETS KEEP OUR FINGERS CROSS AND PRAY FOR OUR NAME TO BE ON MERIT LIST.

okay, Here is the thing.. Last year about 48,000 wrote the post-ume. There are courses where about 5,000 candidates were competing for eg Law, Medicine, accounting etc. Whereas in such courses, Uniben needed about 100, 150 or so each.

So undoubtedly, there must be MANY scoring more than the usual cutoff of 50 (Not departmental) who weren't given their 1st choice,2nd choice or even any course at all.

At the end of the day, Uniben admitted 5,915(as the matriculation statistic says). So think about the many out of that 48,000 that PASSED but weren't admitted.

But this year, it's different. 97,000 chose Uniben.. But 15,000 wrote the Post-Ume(it might be more tho' cuz that's the stat of those who use PPT..but the difference won't be much even if CBT candidates are added)

So you can imagine how it 'd look like, not to mention the fact that the Post Ume result has further reduced the number.

And there's a rumor NUC instructed all schools to increase their admission capacity (this I can confirm) & uniben is considering admitting 7 or 8k (that I'm unsure of).

AS OF LAST 2YRS, UNIBEN ADMITTED 85 INTO MECINE.

I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHECK ASPIRANTS SCORE CUZ IT WAS PASTED RIGHT ON UNIBEN ADMISSION PORTAL

AS I WAS CHECKING THROUGH THEIR ADMISSION STATUS, I SAW SOMETHING THAT BEAT MY IMMAGINATION. I SAW A GUY WHO SCORED 50 AS AGGREGATE ADMITTED INTO THE DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE DELTA STATE BY STATE OF ORIGIN.

I STARTED CHECKING THROUGH AND SAW A GIRL WHO SCORED 64 AGGREGATE ADMITTED INTO THE SAME MEDICINE. A GUT FROM KADUNA SCORED 54 AND WAS STILL ADMITTED INTO MEDICINE.


IN ESSENCE, UNIBEN DO ACTUALLY FOLLOW SO MANY CRITERIA THAT N.U.C LAY DOWN FOR THEM. ANY DEFAULT OF SUCH CRITERIA MAY LEAD TO THE UNIVERSITY BEING SANCTION.

THAT SAME YEAR, I WAS THROWN TO ANIMAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY WITH 62. WHY MY FRINED WAS GIVEN 'PLANT BIOTECHNOLOGY' WITH A SCORE OF 60. BOTH OF US PUT IN FOR MEDICINE BUT WAS THROWN TO THOSE 2 DEPARTMENTS RESPECTIVELY.

WHAT AM I TRYING TO SAY?

EVERYTHING IS PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION. EVEN LAST YEAR, I HAPPEN TO GET TO KNOW 2 PERSONS THAT WERE ADMITTED INTO MEDICINE WITH 66 AGGREGATE EACH. I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK THEM IF THERE ARE THOSE ADMITTED INTO MEDICINE WITH 60 AGGREGATE AND THEY ANSWER YES DEFINITELY. THAT THEIR ARE THOSE WITH 60, 61, 63 ADMITTED INTO MEDICINE. I HAPPEN TO KNOW ANODA GUY WHO SCORED 65 AGG BUT WAS GIVN OPTOMETRY INSTEAD OF MEDICINE.

PRAYERS HAVE IT ALL FOR NOW.

BUT THE NUMBER DO NOT EXCEED 100 THAT ARE ADMITTED INTO MED SURG WHILE LAW DO ACCOMODATE UP TO 150 AND EVEN UP TO 200

I don't really know much about computer science. But from my record here 3,051 chose it in JAMB.. But I bet you know how Jamb drastically reduced the number. Like 97,000 put in for Uniben.. But 15,000 wrote the Post-ume.

Like someone pointed out, stop being pessimistic. Anything can happen, but one thing I know for sure is.. This year won't be like last year.

I still think we should address this issue once and for all. Starting with Medicine and Law which seem to be the most talked about course on this page.

But first, I'd like to know, how many Medicine & Law aspirants did Uniben admit last year? A friend told me less than a hundred. How true is this?

lol, My dear..uniben doesn't even look at your 2nd choice, its either you get your first choice or they GIVE YOU WHATEVER COURSE THEY LIKE. From last year's experience.

Emylexray: okay bro. But you somehow misquoted me. I didn't say they give aspirants any course inasmuch as they beat the cut-off. I meant if one doeesn't meet the cut-off, they will give the person another course. My sister wanted to study accounting last year with an aggregate of 58, but was give social studies Edu. I guess probably she didn't meet the cut-off or something

abdulwizzy: one thing u guys don't know about adminsions is that ts not only the scores that's considered. other criteria are considered like cachement areas. local govt. state of origin and connections. there are specific .number of people dey can admit from each local govt in Edo state. n other states. so u guys chill out and pray to God cos na him get Adminsion...

Naldogen: Most times candidates are given halls according to d initials of their SURNAME.o.k!, sometimes ago it was according to their Jamb Scores,bt recently its d initial i.e 1st letter of ur surname.NEVER UR COURSE OH!! thanks

Sir, I'm not sure about that, I think the normal Jamb score thing was used, it was what I saw sha o! But Who knows? You might just be right.

Emylexray: To be frank and objective friends. Its really demeaning for a university of so much worth like Uniben not to have official cut-off marks for all courses thereby dangling the fate of the aspirants like a yo-yo. Like a guy once said on this thread, You get a high score, they still tell you not to be rest assured, you get a not too high score, they give you a beacon of hope. An aggregate score of 70 should be deemed admittable by all standards. But that's not the case, they'll still tell you not to party yet. Lol!




Well, one thing i love UNIBEN for is that they don't leave the aspirants stranded. They fix you somewhere if your score is not up to par with the required score for your desired course. That's laudable! Unlike other universities like Unilag, Uniuyo e.t.c that just leave the aspirants stranded.

I love to agree with you but Not all your points are true. Uniben do have a cutoff mark, if not..then how is the admission process done? But the thing is.. It's not made known or announced. That's the thing with Uniben, they always discreet in their doings.

N also, you say Uniben would give You any course when you beat their cutoff.. Helllooooo, was it not the same Uniben people claimed their Cutoff is '50'(not departmental)? But what happened last year? You Wanna see the 'Zillion' candidates..not with 50 nor 51,52....but 59 'not admitted' (myself included).. I can show you those with 60 if you want especially those who went for Accounting. They were the most victims.


That guy Ojingbe is making sense, you guys should listen to him. Tho' I believe this year wouldn't be like last year, the population was one huge factor that affected the admission process.

I've been following this thread since last year.. Yea yea. I mean since 2012/2013 academic session & never saw the need to post until yesterday. Kinda created a Nairaland account but they Won't let me post anything on this session, I dont understand why, but I'm asked to try again next week.. Hence, I'm using my elder bro's account.

Well, my story goes like this.. I applied for Law last year.. Scored 58 but Uniben didn't see me as 'good enough' to be given any course at all.. I don't blame them tho'. It was all God's plan.. I believe.

This year, I applied for a related course ; International Studies& Diplomacy (ISD) and By God's grace, I got an 'impossible score' lol.

Abeg, no need for plenty talk.. I'm here to join you guys in the wait for the Merit list..and would be updating you guys on the latest info (I dont really have anybody in Uniben.. I base my infos on calculations..I mean logic...yea! Something like that)

I think I might have an idea on when the Merit list would be out.. N if you want me to spill, sure I will.

Those who know me would confirm to you I don't give false infos.. I was somewhat a prominent figure in Uniben facebook fanpage last year. But for a vow I made, I'm yet to post a thing there.
