Contestants 34- trailblaiza and generaliy07 Generaliy0 Trailblaiza 'Salubata' is a yoruba word which means sandal. We can also take it to mean a very 'rugged' shoe that will stand the test of time, regardless of the 'challenges' it faces (You remember that type of Ali and Simbi's shoe huh?). On the surface, the poem is simply an ode to 'Salubata', our object brother who was so loyal against all odds. So, 'Salubata' is that rugged shoe we wore to interviews. That one shoe we used in trolling companies for jobs unannounced . Its flat soles is a symbol of our hustle. Looking at it on a more deeper level, 'Salubata' is also symbolic of those people who were there for us while we were still hustling. We're pretty sure some of us have had people who were really there for us when we were still hustling and trying to make it to the top. Now that we are at the top, the poem purges our conscience and demands to know how we treated the 'Salubatas'. If you're yet to get to the top, how would you treat your 'Salubata's' when you get there? 'Salubata' was composed by trailblaiza and generaliy07 . generaliy07 wrote stanzas 1, 2, 6, 7 & 8 while trailblaza wrote stanzas 3, 4 & 5 ************************************************************************************************************************* SALUBATA- THE BEARER OF THE HUSTLER'S TALE Flat as a razor blade Bearer of our hustling tales None else tells the story better Than Salubata, our object brother. Once shiny like the monk's forehead, Neatly packed in couture's top shelf Picked carefully to register our very presence T'was you who gave us confidence. If there will ever be any one who deserves the fame Salubata, we definitely will hold high in praise For walking us through life's smooths and bumps And for being there to witness our many triumphs. The suffering, the rushing, the hustling and the bustling Through thick and thin, your love was unflinching Gentle, Obedient, Kind and Understanding, Salubata knows no weather, it is all enduring! Were loyalty rewarding, we'd give you a plaque For none else was there, through our hustling stage While we sit at the edge of the bed, neck deep in hopelesness Salubata looks up and reminds us of our yet-to-be attained greatness. Twas you who witnessed our several rejects and flops 'we'll-get-to-yous' that signified the end of our quests for promising jobs When we almost fell into fellow hustlers' trap Dressed for top interviews, only to discover it was some MLM trash! Painful how the son of man forgets The hustle pays and you they reject Where was Paul Smith when Akube trekked from interviews to tests? Or Louis Vutton when Salubata accompanied us to compete with the best? Friends got porsche rides and homes on the Island Then throw Salubata to the bins like rotten bananas Rather than shelf you as a medal much coveted We cast you like a plague, so unwanted. |
Please how do we submit the poems? Do we post them here as comments too? |

People are just foolish. U won't make findings and you'll just conclude it's scam. Rubbish! This is their website, www.fezltd.com Anyways, I had an interview there last month (it's a 3 storey building and their office is on the last floor. There's something like a glass in the office- to show I know there well!). I think they're a new consulting firm tho'... They were recruiting for a document management and printing company (also multinational according to what the MD told me). I passed the interview and was invited to the company the following day to have an interview with the MD (a white guy). I aced that too and I got a success email but I haven't heard back from them sha. I'm still hoping. So guys, how did it go? They're very friendly interviewers actually. I was interviewed by a lady and 2 other guys. They make u very relaxed and not like some harsh interviewers that'll throw you off balance... |
