2sexycom:UrVillagePpl, was this the same person that asked you if you are the owner of the name? |
UrVillagePpl:Bringing this here is a big joke. I thought you have escaped Your Village People |
beckplanet:Make I go pop some corn and chill some Coke. |
2sexycom:A niche in the real estate industry. |
Geofavor:Each name is different, and there are even different scenarios for a particular name. First, I never quote price in my first mail. I encourage them to make an offer. Few do, most don't. Depending on the strategy I am testing out:: Some landers, I leave at Make Offer Some I set BIN Before starting outbound for any name, I already have an upper limit in mind. So when setting a lander BIN, I set it higher than the upper limit I have in mind. E.g. If I aim for 2k upper, and 850 lower for a name, I may set a BIN of 2.6k. This way, if someone requests for price, I will start at say, 2.3k If this person had already seen the lander, then I have already placed him in a good psychological place, which has gotten him to falsely feel he is already getting a discount. Depending on his pocket and bargaining power, if I reduce it to 2k, he is already seeing a 600 discount without knowing I haven't even given him any real discount. There are MANY angles to this strategy, and NONE is a sure banker. We just keep testing. PS. When I said I have different prices for different companies for the same name, don't get me wrong. For 50 companies, I cannot have 50 different prices. There are names I have same starting price for all outbounds. For those names I vary the price, I create about 2 or 3 price groups. So with the above example, I may tell one group 2.6k, another 2.2k, and the other group, 1.9k. We keep tweaking to perfection. God dey. |
2sexycom:It was 1500, a geo, 3 words, plural, and 25 letters. I won't say anything about those that are SUPER COMFORTABLE with, and think $350 is the standard.. My only advice to those that need some guide in pricing their GEO NAMES is to first research things like the price of that service in that particular town. Is it a one man business, or a company with several people? E.g. A tow truck company that charges an average of $50 per tow, depending on distance, will report your pitch of $1000 as spam. E.g. You may be selling yourself short for pitching $100 to a cosmetic surgery private practice in LA that charges clients $5k per procedure. This is the reason I don't like harvesting emails for outbounding, cos you hardly know the companies. I prefer visiting each prospect's website, know their service cost, and price safely. For a particular name, I may have different prices for different prospects in the same town. Outbounding is tough when done the right way (laser research). Meanwhile, let's all be safe on this period. No handshakes, no hugs, wash hands several times a day with soap, use sanitizers too if you have them, cover your mouth with your elbow when coughing, stay away from crowds, and keep your hands away from your face. This too shall pass. Jehovah God no dey sleep. |

Reality11:Unless you are sure you sold it to a foreigner, who knows, the current owner may be here. |
Reality11:Please reveal the name. Maybe someone here is the current owner. If so, you 2 can work together to seal the deal. |
ollybode:Na so e dey do. No mind am. |
2sexycom:Thanks boss |
BrandPa with new updates. Seems new sellers will be accepted now. Listing fee remains $5 for old folks but $8 for new sellers. https://sellers.brandpa.com/big-changes-for-brandpa/ |
alawi5k:They are 2 different things |
priceaction:Let them know they can pay in installments. Maybe 6 - 9 months. Is it geo or brandable? |
SH partners with Sedo |
nomoless:Hmmm. Let me just watch and see how this one will end. |
FiremanP:All the brown roofs. (No pun intended) |
Depressed101:Do you have more than 1 account with them? |
How was it resolved? UrVillagePpl: |
UrVillagePpl:Have you chatted with SH help desk? Click the blue button. |
IdeasPro:Lol. You are the boss. |
DNSPro:That YOU are still scratching bottom of pot does not mean everyone that comes here on Nairaland does the same. I know those here that spend minimum of $500 to buy a domain name. You also believe nobody here has good-paying jobs? Go figure! It is so unfortunate that some of you missed to grab the lessons that were SO OBVIOUS from the post I shared. So, what I said about developing negotiation skills is nothing? And your mind couldn't wrap around the fact that someone that initially low-balled at $200 finally bought the name at $20,000? Doesn't this tell you that many buyers are experienced BUSINESS MEN that KNOW their onions, AND for YOU to survive the mind games, bluffs/counter bluffs, and psychological intimidation, YOU NEED to step up your game. See the big picture. I have always been a proponent of not selling ourselves short. Mind you, I am not saying we should buy high and sell low (which business principle is that even?). If YOU buy a name for $10, list is for $600, and accept the FIRST $150 that comes along, without even countering, something is wrong somewhere. I never wanted to respond to the first person that veered "off-course" when he quoted me on this, but I needed to say this 'cause it's starting to feel like throwing diamonds to swine. Next time IF I happen to share more resources, I will break them down in kindergarten format. Shalom |
KNOW your name. From $200 initial offer to $20,000 buy price. (Now see the counter offer) ![]() I once said in this thread that we should go and read up/learn about effective negotiation skills Domaining, when seen as a business, CAN help us develop many business skills. Good morning all.

ElonMosque:I believe this is only if you choose the option that you are willing to register the name yourself. |
emmydsife:They said the normal cost per submission is 4 coins ($4), but it's currently discounted to 2 coins ($2) per submission. |
KayceeBanks:Then start reading from Page 1. |
beckplanet:Lol, na so. It all depends on the original SH comm approval. Since Afternic's comm is constant at 20%, SH is then entitled to whatever difference between that and their comm. Actually at the end of the day, the total comm will still equal to the original SH approved comm. And that's where the trust and integrity of SH sellers come to play. The return of the 10% to SH. Lol |
I only get inspired to share my sales report, when any of my sales has some story around it. So I will share this one Bought on Namepros on November 19, 2019 for $16. Seller said he once submitted it as unregistered name at SH but it was rejected. (I wonder the reason he decided to go ahead and register it anyway )Submitted to SH same day and it was approved for Premium Listing for $2399 (I think I raised it to above 3k like I always do all my approved PLs) FFWD to 2020 when SH partnered with Afternic for it's Expanded Promotion. I submitted it (and all my premium listings) on February 2nd for Afternic approval with 2 coins ($2) and listed on Afternic same day. I jacked up the price to $4.5k on SH and set it at $5k at Afternic. February 19, an email from an Afternic/Godaddy Sales Exec. landed informing that he had an offer he had worked on for my name and buyer offered $3k. I decided to see if I could get the buyer to go higher. The sales guy told me buyer started from $2k, and with his pushing, got to $2.5k, then $3k, and that THEY would look for another domain. I decided to apply the silent treatment. This lasted for about 15 hours. I can prove stubborn sometimes, but my guts whispered to me that this is DEFINITELY NOT, and SHOULD NOT be one of such times. I sent him a 4-word reply - (How do we proceed?) Cutting the long story short, I adjusted the BIN on Afternic to $3k (also on SH cos price on SH MUST always be less or equal to the price on Afternic). Buyer paid same day February 20. I pushed name to Afternic's Epik escrow account immediately. Took them 3/4 days to verify the funds and send to me. $2,374 (less 20% $600 Afternic commission and $26 bank charge) hit my dorm account on Feb. 25. I informed SH about the sale. Now based on SH agreement, since the name was originally approved for 30% SH comm., I will need to pay SH their own share of 10% ($300). So at the end of the day, my take home is $2,070 I entered GTB today and withdrew the whole cash over the counter. Domain name is B-O-L-D-L-E-M-O-N in king Grace brought me this far. PS: This is my first Afternic transaction, and it appears they won't release fund to seller, until buyer accepts domain push/transfer. I found this strange 'cos escrow as I understand it means once the escrow agent has both product and payment, there shouldn't be any delay in disbursement. On NP, I have seen cases where buyer didn't accept push/transfer for weeks and Afternic held on to seller's fund. Well, seems my buyer acted fast enough. All's well that ends well. PS2: If ONLY sales report motivates you in this business, YOU WILL NOT LAST LONG. You can take this to the bank!!! |
ElonMosque:TexasHandyMan is just 13 letters. (Just saying) |
