Not too much to ask right?

Same diesel that we are rolling out drums for was less than 850 in May 2023, and it was NOT being subsidized then. But somehow idiots think we're better off and should be grateful.

richiemcgold:

You are wrong! Very wrong!
The only university of medical sciences in Ondo state was sited in Ondo town by Mimiko.
There are only 2 Mother & child hospitals in the whole of Ondo state, one in Akure, one in Ondo. Both were built by Mimiko.
Mimiko also built thevonly Orthopedic and traumatic center in Ondo state in his Ondo town. Even the general hospital in Akure referred patients to this center.
Before Mimiko became governor, the major road in Ondo township in just one-way road, Mimiko turned it to dual carriage road.

What else do you expect from him? Were you expecting him to abandon other parts of the state because of Ondo town?
I knew you would say that. He created the trauma centre and mother and child. But I was in Ondo then thankfully so I know better.

The three roads that were dualized in Ondo town where he is from and for 8 years as governor were Inward Ondo from Akure express way, and the two connecting roads from that road; 1 road that goes to Ife garage and another that goes into the other part of town (can't remember the name) all three roads were not up to 1km each.

He also built mother and child hospital in Ondo and Akure and Trauma canter in Ondo. The medical school linked to the trauma center was initiated by him on his way out, but that was all, INITIATED. Akeredolu takes the glory for that cos he executed it.

So we have three roads of less than 3km and a trauma center for Ondo.

The Trauma centre in Ondo, and mother and child (Ondo and Akure) though a laudable project that many benefitted from, esp mother and child, by way of free childbirth (people were coming from far away Benin to chop this freebie) was not really solely funded by him. I'll explain cos I was involved in this. He built the edifice, and he bought some good equipment I won't lie, but you see all the medication and consumables down to gloves, Mimiko no pay shingbai till he comot. But he took all the glory and the goodwil for both projects. The pharma companies that supplied all those items running into tens of billions na them lose. I no even know if those debts still dey till now, or if Akeredolu settled it.

I was in the pharmaceutical industry so I know what I'm telling you. So many companies were already hooked and of course stopped supplying, and it got so bad that those lovely edifices had to go and purchase any items they needed at local pharmacy with cash in hand by about 2015/2016. I saw the debt sheets with my korokoro eyes cos I was also lobbying to secure a huge LPO for my company then, and the HOD na Ondo man too, so I use my knowledge of Ondo dialect take enter am. Some wey dey eager to sell and didn't know were still supplying and adding to the huge debt figure. The man had to clear me say make I no bother cos as at 2013 mother and child was already owing over a billion (and rising) to various pharma companies for drugs and consumables. Trauma center own even worse, but like I said I won't lie, yes he built those projects and put some really good equipment there. I recall the trauma center as at that 2013/2014 took delivery of dialysis equipment and was the only dialysis center to use in Ondo as at then.

I also know how many people in Ondo ravenously supported him seeing as he is from Ondo. We had very high expectations that he would finally really give Ondo a much needed break and transformation after all the others before him all neglected to do so. Less than 3km of road and trauma center is something, but that wasn't all Ondo was expecting from Mimiko from an eight year tenure.

Again, you need to see what Ambode did to Epe in 4 years to understand why I'm not clapping for Mimiko for less than 3km of road and trauma centre in 8 years

Zahra29:
I remember when the Ireland trend was discussed on this thread. Thankfully some posters cautioned against it, because this route has "casted" like so many others involving Nigerians. Below is an update from the Irish government:

More than 80 per cent of people applying for asylum in Ireland are coming from the UK over the land Border with Northern Ireland, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has estimated.

The Department believes that the overwhelming majority of those are coming from the UK and across the land Border. The Government believes that a significant number of Nigerians are coming via this route. There has been a spike in applications from that country.

Cabinet agreed that IP applicants from this country will be subject to an accelerated processing regime from Tuesday.

Ms McEntee, who said that the new pact would mean that people will spend “less time in State-provided accommodation and ultimately are more likely to be returned to their country of origin”.

https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/social-affairs/2024/04/23/80-of-asylum-applications-to-be-processed-within-three-months-under-new-eu-rules/
why though? Are they trooping to Ireland to somehow shield themselves from the sliding tackle that home-office delivered by way of the tightened immigration rules?

I was right because of all the things you wrote up there, there is no single statement that addressed the issues I raised. Rather you were busy making it personal.

I will humor you and come down to your level maybe we can make a head way.

1. Are you optimistic that Arsenal will do well down the road because you believe that they have the right players and right coach and that after every defeat the coaching team go back to the drawing board to review their error and try to adjust for the next game or you based your loyalty on blind trust?

2. If you invest in a company and year in year out they have been bleeding cash without any strategic move to turn things around will you continue to throw money in it or will only continue to throw money in it if you are certain that the new steps they took will yield profit?

3. If your answer to any of the above is solely based on blind loyalty then I am sorry to tell you, you are the type that can easily be manipulated into wearing suicide vest.

By the way, because you were born yesterday does not automatically make you right. You could be old as Bleep and still be as dumb as a rock.
well said. Very good analogies👌...Nothing more to add

grandstar:
The true value of the Naira sits between 1,300-1,400 based on present fundamentals. Anything stronger will harm the economy. It seems Tinubu is more perturbed about a loss of face over a dwindling Naira than accepting reality.

The nation needs to reinvent it. The dependence on crude oil sales for the bulk of the countryš forex is a scourge and needs to end.

The focus now should be an "export or perish" mantra. The desperate clinging to a strong Naira policy will adversely affect exports growth.

The government's goal should be to triple exports within 10 years, the majority being non-oil.

It can only achieve this by deregulating the price of petrol which will induce massive investment into the downstream sector of the economy which has for long suffered a dearth of investment due to the subsidizing of fuel.

Next, should be the deregulation of electricity prices. Let's Discos charge cost reflective tariffs, so huge investments will flood into power generation and distribution to ensure ample power supply for new factories and businesses popping up.

Next should be the lowering of companies tax to less than 20%. Low corporate taxes have positive transformative economic as they lead to a surge in investments, both foreign and local boosting economic growth to the heavens. It's what many Central European countries in the EU have long implemented and with superb results.

More reforms are needed but this should be a start.
lol.

One thing I sha appreciate you for is that unlike the zombies in here, you do admit when you come to realise you've been fooled, or when you realise you were wrong. This is why I still enjoy chatting with you.

We can support whomever we want but shouldn't be a blind zombie about it.

I can see you have also seen 'the float' for what it is. Remember, I said just like Buhari's float was dissected years later to get the truth, Thubv's own too will be dissected to show what is really what. I'm happy we didn't have to wait so long for you to see that the float again just as with Bubu, wasn't a float afterall.

When you are just so darn inconsistent and untrustworthy, what really can you achieve?

You then replied suggesting that there is no Kaduna refinery and he is a drunkard. I am now telling you that there is indeed a Kaduna refinery.

I 💯 believe the husband. He is dumb too cos he should have known better than to think he can wife her. With a gal like Korra shit like this is to be expected. After watching this video sef, i'm more convinced she did get some action in Nigeria while preggo. Her eyes and body language gave her away ever so beautifully.

To those who think a guy cannot gbensh a preggo woman, think again. Aside the fact that some men really don't have inhibitions, just the fact that this gals eg Korea janemana bhadiekelly etc are all over the place constantly pedddling seductive and sexualizing shit, means there are many that would fantasize about banging them in any way shape or form.

I have loved Rihanna from day 1, and I don't know about anyone else but I would bang Rihanna into another dimension if she gives me the coochie, and I don't care if she was carrying both Drake's and Asap's kids at the same time.

Politics / Re: Nigeria’s FX Reserves Drop To $32bn — Lowest Level In Six Years by Treadway: 6:00pm On Apr 17
I don't even mind that they are back to fixing naira rate. The float was a misadventure like I have told Grandstar severally. That said, like I also said this measure is rather simplistic and cosmetic, but I'll still allow it on the premise that the refineries are immediately up and running to pick up the slack.

But so far, as is the culture of the APC, you never know what's what. Dangote refinery na 'we will' level we still dey. PH refinery nko, we are still waiting for the new deadline to be set. Anyway make dem use our reserve further bring it down below 1k sha, make son of man load up.

Also let's not forget the other mounting indebtednesses we have backed by same foreign reserve, the same level of indebtedness that led JP Morgan to tell us that out net reserve is around 3b and the simple reason why the govt went for the afrexim bank loan. Just reminding those that are shouting about how 30b is a big deal, but your govt that knows it had 30+ billion still used crude oil as collateral to borrow 10% of the sum. That tells you that the 30+ billion isn't just to be dipped into recklessly.

But I know only a few sane minds will understand what I've written...which is fine too😁

Goodvibes007:

It's about $1.5B and not even up to $2B. Mean while:

PBAT administration met $34 billion in our foreign reserve June 2023.

Off the top of my head :-
-This administration paid $500 million Eurobond in July 2023.

-Paid external debt in Q4- : $900 million

-Paid CBN legacy debt of $7 billion

-Paid ways and means debt of $4 billion

That is $12 billion.

I am aware the government also paid $1 billion to the USA government for weapons in November 2023

We don’t know how much credit line and importation has been paid for. We are yet to see what the government paid for external debt in Q 1 2024.

But let’s cry, because we have a $32.5 billion in our reserves. $1.5 billion drop from where this administration met it despite over $12 billion expenditure.

not so clever fox...why didn't you talk about all the loans....eg the Afrexim bank loan, not to mention other crude oil sales

No one has told me they can't see anything good in this government, and if anyone does, I'm certain they have their reasons.

Regardless, I'm not particularly interested in what others see or not, as I can look for myself and see for myself. And if you asked me if I see anything good in this government, I'd say their attempt to remove fuel and electricity subsidies is a good thing despite the fact that their removal increases the price of fuel and electricity and causes hardship for many.

Now, if this government goes just one step further and scraps Youth Service, which is a subsidy of labour for employers, this government would have made my day.

China saved the global south. Now we have options. From loans to escape World Bank/IMF sharks, to development in terms of infrastructures, to educating our youths, a heavyweight in diplomacy (just look at their support for Palestine), non-interference (so no woke ideologies as a condition for their help), and so much more.

With a hundred euros, I can buy a good techno phone for my grandma to keep in touch with her, if not for China, communicating with loved ones would be so difficult. How many of us can buy Samsung phones? China gave the global south a voice, and the only civilization capable of burying western hegemony, and they are on it.

Most of what we use is imported from China, and they are still cheap even after all the importation fees, customs bribes, and profit for importers. In only a matter of time, before China enters into weapon production that will render Western junk useless.

That is western biggest fear. It gives them sleepless nights. Just imagine China turning to the US military-industrial complex useless due to a lack of customers. When you cannot compete fairly, throttling becomes your only option.

But you can only throttle an opponent that doesn't understand the nature of the enemy, this is why ignorance is dangerous. When you know your enemy and yourself, you can always predict accurately the result of every battle.

God bless China, it's a country I deeply respect with all sincerity.

When I see some of these students with huge student loan debt with degrees such as gender studies, I shake my head. Even worse, when they open their mouth to talk, all you hear is a repetition of ideologies with no independent thoughts.

The point of education is to make you a thinking machine, not a repetitive machine. You can analyze things, and come up with conclusions that even if you are wrong, still follow a logical, observable pattern.

Education these days has been narrowed to university only, but universities in many cases are indoctrination. I was that student who always argued with teachers, and many didn't like me for that.

One time I asked my professor why African history in the recommended textbook started only in the 1500s during the reconnaissance period, and also why Europeans wrote African history, and not Africans themselves. Meanwhile, in the same book, European history went far back.

He just told me straight up that I should take my case to the school management, and that all he does is teach with the textbook recommended by the school.

Another time also, a young visiting professor was asking why Africa wasn't developed, and blamed it on the lack of opening up the local market for capitalism and globalization.

I asked him, who would reach the finish line first, Usain Bolt or a child? Comparing Europe with Africa in terms of development without taking historical and present situations into context is a wrong approach.

Africa suffers from slavery, colonialism, and now imperialism. Anyway I highlighted lots of issues plaguing the continent, and he was looking like a dundee.

Lots of other international students from Africa were also just looking like morons, they probably don't know or depended solely on university for knowledge. Universities brainwash people, and if it's not a route to japa, many courses and uni are not worth it.

The West enjoys prestige, and it comes with the advantage of easy acceptance of everything Western. But yes, the guy is correct. I have watched the video yesterday, it appears in my feed, but glad you posted it.

easy and willful acceptance of everything western.

The west aren't really even 'selling' anymore..others are willfully and freely doing the advocating and selling on their behalf. Many have been successfully subdued on a psychological level. E be things.
