An armed Fulani attack on some farmers at Nyiwa Village in Mambilla sparked off a spiral of herdsmen-farmers clashes across some villages in western Mambilla Plateau in Sardauna LGA, Taraba State of Nigeria. According to reports gathered, the initial attack at Nyiwa village which happened on 1/3/2018, started after the Fulani militia shot dead two Mambilla men in their farmland at Nyiwa community.


The Fulani herders had destroyed the fence around the farm the previous day which the farmers quickly and peacefully repaired. The Fulani allegedly destroyed the fence for a second time within a space of about 24 hours. When the farmers returned to the farm and were about to re-erect the fence, the Fulani gunmen, allegedly led by the said Maigari Gagarau and brother opened fire on them from a nearby bush in which they had laid in ambush, killing two farmers instantly.

The head of one of their victims was further macheted to pieces by Maigari’s team. They subsequently shot dead two other Mambilla men. As the alarm of this gruesome killings went round the village, residents scampered about in panic, some rushing to attempt to rescue those trapped by the attack. These people, however, similarly came under the same gunfire.


The villagers inevitably clashed with these armed herdsmen in the farm resulting in further casualties.

According to online reports, these Nyiwa killings sparked off a wave of fighting between herdsmen and farmers in the area. Nevertheless, the Nyiwa attack by the herdsmen turned out to be the head of a series of coordinated attacks organized and executed by the Fulani leaders, which quickly spread to other villages such as Yerimaru, Kasalasa, Ngesoo, Yelwa and the Mambilla Escarpment Road.

Reports of Fulani mercenaries arriving Maisamari, Nguroje and Gembu on Saturday, 3 March 2018 were rife by evening of that day. Some of these were allegedly lodged at the residences of certain Miyetti Allah leaders, Ardo Juli and Ardo Ali in Nguroje, according to the Sardauna stakeholders forum.

A Nigerian pastor known as Rev. Ignatius Ogboi of Salvation Army Church, Mbiri, has been nabbed by the Delta State Police Command suspected to be notorious kidnapper with 3,871 live cartridges and a loaded English made double barrel gun.

The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Mustafa, said Rev. Ignatius Ogboi, 51, was sponsoring kidnappers and armed robbers operating within Agbor and Umunede and its environs.

Police command also recovered some prohibited drugs and over N4 million, believed to be ransom collected from kidnapped and armed robbery victims from him.

The cleric owned up to the ownership of the exhibits but denied the suspected case of kidnapping, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and prohibited drugs, including Tramadol, levelled against him.

Ogboi said he only helped the vigilantes in his community to procure the recovered items found in his possession after they complained that they were buying them at exorbitant rates elsewhere.



He said: “I am still an ordained minister of God in Christ Army Church, Umunede. The bulk of the money being paraded is very small compared to what I usually have with me, if my business was still booming. I am not a kidnapper as being speculated.”

But Mustafa disagreed. He said Ogboi was doing an illegal business of the highest degree of suspicion and suspected that drugs in his possession were being used on his victims.

A suspected robber and rapist met his Waterloo in the early hours of Thursday at in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, after invading Divine Mercy hostel occupied by students of the Adekunle Ajasin University.


According to reports, he had succeeded in robbing some occupants of their valuables and raping two female students, before being caught. He was thoroughly beaten before being handed over to the police.

It was a tragic Friday evening in Kano, as three out of four children trapped inside a parked vehicle were found dead.
According to the father of two of the deceased, his children Aisha, 2, and Habiba, 4, were hale and hearty before a Muslim prayer session on Friday.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, said the incident occurred along Warri by Igbo Road in Sabon-Gari area of Kano State.

He said the children got into a vehicle and locked themselves in it. It was gathered that the vehicle had been stationed in that particular spot for over a year. “They gained access into the car and locked themselves inside.

And because there was no cross ventilation, the kids suffocated. Three of them died and the forth one is currently in a state of coma at the hospital,” he said. .

Commenting on the incident, father of two of the deceased kids, popularly known as Baba Ilorin, said, “They were picked up from school by their mother. However, they got missing shortly before the Juma’at prayer. .

My wife notified me on phone that they were missing. My wife and neighbours searched everywhere for the children, but could not find them. When I returned home, I was informed that four children were found in a vehicle and that three of them were dead. .

On getting to the hospital, I discovered that two of the deceased were Aisha and Habiba. That is what God destined for me and I accept it in good faith."

Isabella Agbor Ayuk, former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, MBGN lost total control and broke down in tears when she came face to face with the reality that a widow, Rose Leku Asigbe was thrown out of her home by her mates’ children after her husband died and left to live with her six children in abject poverty at one of the most feared flood torn area in Bendeghe-Afi community of Cross River State.





Ayuk and her Isabella Ayuk Foundation, IAF team were out at the beginning of the year on a five day charity outreach on indigent widows and Cameroonian refugees displaced by crisis in southern Cameroon, beginning from last Thursday when after much facts-finding came face to face with Asigbe and her three children untold condition.


Despite arriving Ikom late at night Ayuk and her team immediately proceeded to visit Asigbe in her home, where she fully ascertained the circumstance the widow was living in.
Accessing Bendeghe-Afi community where the widow resides was not a thoroughfare for the IAF team as they had to traverse three communities of 24km of poor road access and were ferried on canoe across Bendeghe-Afi river that night to be able to reach Asigbe.
On reaching the community at about 8pm, Ayuk and her IAF team had to wait for Asigbe as she was out to scout for what she and her three children will feed on the following morning.
When Asigbe heard about the team’s visit not only did she find it hard to believe her eyes that former MBGN queen came personally to visit her as she settles down to narrate her untold story to Ayuk and her IAF team.


On hearing the widow narrate her story, Ayuk became emotionally struck and tears flowed out profusely. She wandered what the widow did to deserve the treatment met on her.
The widow, who originally hails from Obudu and married late Leku Asigbe has six children for her late husband, but has given three out as house-helps with only the destination of two known to her. Asigbe said she did it all for the survival of her remaining three kids, who are still tender in her arms.
But help finally came when Ayuk and her team paid a visit to Asigbe as the Isabella Ayuk Foundation did not only relocate the widow and her children from the flood tide zone to an area that feels safe, but also opened a small-scale business for their subsistence.
In Asigbe’s words translated from pidgin English: “Isabella has taken away shame from me…”
After the meeting with Asigbe, the ex-beauty queen also took out time to visit a large gathering of widows at Bendeghe-Ekeim where she provided them with food materials and had a swell time with them as they composed traditional odes for Ayuk and her team while they danced.

Executive Governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha has named his Chief of Staff, who doubles as his son-in-law,Uche Nwosu, as his successor in 2019.

The governor,made his intentions known at a meeting with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Owerri Municipal Council Area.

The governor, however, said Nwosu is yet to inform him if he is nursing any governorship ambition.

He said:

“Uche Nwosu is hard working and never gets tired. He is a very humble young man. Not proud.

Not arrogant. So, power won’t corrupt him. In spite of the position he occupies you can’t see him quarreling with anybody or maltreating anybody. He does not segregate against anybody whether from Orlu or Owerri or Okigwe zone

. He relates with people freely. I have checked him carefully and I have not found him wanting. “What the state wants is Imo governor and not Owerri Zone or Orlu Zone or Okigwe Zone governor. Zoning does not put food on the table of anybody.

The young man is a team player, who does not use his office to molest anybody. He has the qualities of a good leader. If he says he will run for governor, I will support him.
“Obviously it might be as a result of these qualities that most people are talking about Uche Nwosu for governor everywhere even when he has not declared for the governorship. It might also be the reason for the endorsement he is getting from all quarters.

You see, you don’t hide a good product. And the joy of every leader is to have a worthy successor. You don’t mind political opportunists. We have done very well as a government and we should be concerned about what happens to the achievements after.”

Daniel Onwugbufor the General Overseer of God’s Favour Ministry, Iba, Lagos State, has been nabbed by the Ogun State Police Command , for alleged car snatching. .

The pastor was arrested on Thursday, February 1, 2018, along with one Israel Animashaun, by men of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said their arrests followed a series of car snatching reports which the command had been trying to unravel.

He said police efforts paid off when one of the snatched cars, a Lexus RX 330 Jeep, was tracked to the pastor’s residence at Iba. Oyeyemi explained that the pastor’s arrest led to the apprehension of Animashaun, an active member of a three-man gang which specialised in snatching exotic cars at gunpoint.

He said Animashaun confessed that his gang snatched the Lexus Jeep at gunpoint at Ajah, Lagos, and took it to the pastor, who used to help them in selling such items. .

The suspect also reportedly confessed that the pastor paid him N350,000 for the car and he (pastor) had used it for two weeks before transferring it to another accomplice in Onitsha, Anambra State. .

Oyeyemi said, “The pastor, who first denied knowing Animashaun to be an armed robber, later confessed when confronted by the said Animashaun. He blamed his action on the devil.

He (the pastor) informed the police that the snatched Jeep has been sent to his accomplice in Onitsha but promised to work with the police to get the said accomplice arrested."

Hundreds of Don Wanney’s fighters, who had earlier rejected all government’s overtures to them to surrender their arms have finally done so. .

They surrendered their arms including explosives, rocket launchers and high-calibre rifles such as AK-47, at Heroes Square yesterday.

Emenike Agamu, known in the underworld as ‘General Red Scorpion’ and the fourth in-command in the Don Waney cult gang, surrendered his arms to security operatives in Owerri, Imo State.

Members of the group, after the Omoku killings in Rivers state on New Year’s Day, were declared wanted and its leader, John Igwedibe (aka Don Waney) was gunned down in Enugu by security agents.

His younger brother was shot dead days later. Red Scorpion surrendered alongside other Don Wani boys who had earlier rejected the government’s amnesty offer. He confessed that the militant group killed many people and blew up many oil pipelines.

Pres. Buhari on Monday in Abuja signed Executive Order 5 to improve local content in public procurement with science, engineering and technology components.

The Executive Order, according to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Garba Shehu, is expected to promote the application of science, technology and innovation towards achieving the nation’s development goals across all sectors of the economy.

The President, pursuant to the authority vested in him by the Constitution, ordered that all ‘‘procuring authorities shall give preference to Nigerian companies and firms in the award of contracts, in line with the Public Procurement Act 2007.’’

The Executive Order also prohibits the Ministry of Interior from giving visas to foreign workers whose skills are readily available in Nigeria.

It, however, notes that where expertise is lacking, procuring entities will give preference to foreign companies and firms with a demonstrable and verifiable plan for indigenous development, prior to the award of such contracts.

In the proclamation entitled ‘‘PRESIDENTIAL EXECUTIVE ORDER 5 FOR PLANNING AND EXECUTION OF PROJECTS, PROMOTION OF NIGERIAN CONTENT IN CONTRACTS AND SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY,’’ the President also directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies to engage indigenous professionals in the planning, design and execution of national security projects.

It added that ‘‘consideration shall only be given to a foreign professional, where it is certified by the appropriate authority that such expertise is not available in Nigeria.’’
