Singer, Dapo Oyebanji, aka D’banj, finally opened up on his love life in a rare meeting with journalists in Lagos on Wednesday. The self-styled Kokomaster was clearly in his elements as he talked at length, amid occasional bouts of laughter, about his career and other issues that were important to him. One of the subjects was about his rumoured relationship with Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji.

Judging by the manner in which the actress’ name kept popping off his lips, it was obvious that D’banj had a very soft spot for her. Aware that the grapevine had bristled with the rumour that he was romantically involved with Genevieve, ever since she appeared in the 2010 video of his hit song, ‘Fall in Love’, the singer said the actress had played a role in his success. “Apart from the fact that she is my friend, she has been a part of my success. There is no way you are going to tell my story that Genevieve’s name will not come up because she featured in my biggest song of all time, Fall in Love. So if E True Story comes to Nigeria to interview me, she will definitely be called upon to tell my story,” he said.

As if to confirm that there was more to his relationship with the actress than he had always admitted, D’banj added, “I would love to have Genevieve as my wife. We never can tell what God plans for us in the future. I have studied her and I realised that anyone that has her as his woman has found himself a treasure. Just like the Bible says, any man who finds a wife, finds a good thing.” Perhaps the fans and admirers of the ‘love birds’ will have to brace themselves for a symbolic wedding of two of the most celebrated artistes on this side of the globe in the nearest future.

Yakbyen Nanbol, a 25-year-old woman, who allegedly conspired with her lover of the same age to murder her husband, has been nabbed by policemen in Jos. The woman, a mother of one child, which she had for the deceased husband, yesterday, said she did not ask her lover, who was her late husband’s friend, to kill him.She said her lover (Samson) had approached her several times for love-making, which she always turned down. She said: “I knew Samson through my husband. He has been coming to our house whenever my husband traveled. My husband did not stay home regularly. “Samson will come to the house, requesting for lovemaking.

I finally gave in and we have been meeting until he killed my husband.” However, the suspect claimed that he had been in love with the woman since July and had been having the affair since, whenever the husband, a labourer, was away.

‘Why I killed him’
Samson, a native of Langtang South, noted that because of his “impressive performance,” the woman advised him to kill the husband once he came back from Port-Harcourt, where he went for a job, so that they would be free to get married. He said: “I stay in Langtang South, but she is in Langtang North and I have been coming to meet her. One day she suggested we should be married. I rejected the idea instantly but later had a second thought and agreed to marry her.

“I promised to give her money to return the dowry but she said no, that I should kill the husband and I agreed. “The day her husband came back, she called me, told me her husband had come. I went there in the night and killed him with a gun.” Parading the suspects at the State Police Headquarters alongside 14 others, Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, lamented incidences of homicide, saying the command was battle-ready to combat any form of criminal activities in the state.

A major disaster may have been averted after a tanker exploded in the early hours of Tuesday at a gas plant in the Lekki area of Lagos. The fire outbreak at the plant located around a residential estate at Sangotedo, along Ajah road, was reportedly started by suspected vandals at about 5 a.m. Spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye told Channels Television that three people were severely burned in the blaze and were rushed to hospital. The identity of the victims is yet to be established. According to the NEMA official, the Lagos State Fire Service was able to contain the fire before it spread, but the stricken tanker was badly damaged while other vehicles parked nearby suffered minor damage. The suspected vandals had gained access into the gas plant’s premises after they broke through its rear fence.

A UK couple took a lot more than the complimentary shampoo bottles during a recent stay at a luxury five-star hotel in South Wales. Laura and Christopher Barnett were staying at the Morgans Hotel for Christopher’s birthday, six months after tying the knot.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple allegedly stole almost everything from their room including the Egyptian cotton sheets, pillows, paintings and even the flatscreen TV. But the would-be criminals didn’t get away with it. The staff grew suspicious when the Barnetts tried to argue their way out of a pay-per-view movie by saying their room didn’t have a TV. When one staffer went in to check the room, he found it stri*ped completely bare. The Barnetts eventually confessed to the crime.

Dickson's brother was an officer of the Nigerian Army before his death. He gave up the ghost yesterday, October 1, 2013. The deceased was a gallant soldier who represented Nigeria on various peace-keeping missions. May his soul rest in peace.

A 21-year-old woman beheaded her husband in Tamil Nadu's Sivaganga district on Friday night, after which she reported herself to the police.
According to report, the man, S Parimannan (28), who is married to two women used to be an autorickshaw driver but has been involved in dubious activities for the past few years. He has several cases, including waylaying, murder and robbery, pending against him in various police stations across the district. Both women, Muthumari and Praveena were fed up with his lifestyle, which often resulted in quarrels between them and after getting drunk almost every night, he beats them up.

He was said to have been imprisoned for months leaving both women to cater for their children.Unable to face the harassment anymore, Muthumari left for her maternal home in Ariyalur while Praveena went to her native village. On Friday night, Parimannan visited Praveena's house in Thenmapattu and quarrelled with her demanding money to consume liquor. An angry Praveena, asked him to leave her house immediately but he declined.

She therefore, sprinkled chilli powder on his face and he collapsed on the ground and was writhing in pain. In a fit of rage, she was said to have picked up a sickle and beheaded him. She then walked to the Tirupathur police station and surrendered. She was arrested and remanded in prison. What a shame!
