Science/Technology / 15 Ways Technology Could Change/destroy Our Dear World In The Next Decade by TrillionBrains(m): 9:50am On Feb 07, 2017
How We Could Go a Long Way With The Aid Of Technology in the Next Decade Hard to imagine how our dear World will be in 10 years time. If you cast your mind back 10 years, you’ll probably realize how different your life was then. If you had a cell phone, most of your friends and neighbors probably didn’t. You also likely didn’t use social media or check your favorite websites every day. You didn’t have instant access to the whole world lying right in your pocket. Yet the current rate of technological advances is so startlingly fast, that the next 10 years are expected to see an exponential growth in activity. 1. In 2 years, unlimited free data storage for 90% of humans It’s believed that unlimited storage for all your files will (or could) be given to you free of charge, very soon, meaning you’ll never need to delete anything ever again due to lack of space. Companies will be able to do this as the cost of hard drive gigabytes falls precipitately. 2. By 2022, 1 trillion sensors to be online Sensors are getting so cheap, and computers so powerful that soon there’ll be hardly any reason for any electronic device (or otherwise) not to be wired to the internet. This’ll mean that we’ll be able to perceive our environment digitally as well as or perhaps even better than we can physically. 3. By 2022, 10% of us will wear clothes hooked up to the web Already we have people that own watches and rings with connections to the internet, and there’s no sign that the fad will stop there. In just a few years your outfit (or the outfit of some rich guy on TV) will be connected to the World Wide Web. It might seem like there’s no point to this, but perhaps the reason will come afterwards. 4. By 2022, 3D-printed cars to be made One automotive company, Local Motors, is set to steal ahead of its rivals by producing a full-sized 3D car using printers, after Audi showed they could make a miniature one recently. It might sound strange now, but perhaps, if it brings prices down, you’ll be driving one in a few years. 5. By 2025, implantable mobile phones to be available to buy The thinking here is that a mobile phone will soon be able to keep check on your health and vital signs, which it will do better by being permanently implanted within you. What’s more, such devices will perhaps reach a stage that they can interpret our thoughts and transmit them to other users. This could all be coming in the next few years. 6. By 2023, 10% of reading glasses to be wired to the web Technological experts and futurists believe that soon, eyeglasses will be hooked up to the internet to give direct access to apps which we can control hands free. Google Glass has already set sail on this journey, and has even started experimenting with contact lenses that operate eye tracking technology. 7. By 2024, internet access to be considered a human right Big tech giants like Facebook and Google are pioneering attempts to spread internet access to remote places via drones, satellites and balloons. Soon, the idea of being without internet will so shock people that they will demand to never be without it again. It will become politically necessary for nations to promise permanent everlasting online access, as if it were a human right. 8. By 2024, half our internet traffic will be from appliances and devices Almost all the internet traffic we generate today comes from our computers and phones. Yet soon, since all our domestic appliances and devices will also be hooked up, only half of our internet use will come through the phone and computer. 9. By 2025, 5% of consumer products to be 3D printed The cost of 3D printers, and the tasks they can perform, is expected to rapidly change in the next few years. This will enable small start-ups to manufacture their own creations at home on demand, making production much easier than it currently is. Things will be produced and disseminated faster than ever before. 10. By 2026, Driver-less cars to account for 10% of all cars in the US Driver-less cars have generated a lot of interest, since they promise to increase safety and cut down on harmful emissions. That’s why big techno companies and automakers like Toyota are already making prototype cars that drive themselves. It will probably be by 2026 that 1 in 10 of us will own one of these incredible gadgets. Feel free to access the remaining 5 and comment the one's absent here below. Bonus: 90% of the world to be visiting the site below, LOL:

Phones / 10 Tweaks To Live Through A Dying Battery On Android by TrillionBrains(m): 12:39am On Feb 05, 2017
Short battery life is one of the biggest downfalls of Android phones, and there are times when you may not have access to a charging point when this dreaded moment comes. In such a situation we know some handy ways to decrease battery usage, and enable your phone to survive on low battery for some time.
Though there are a lot of Andriod apps for longer battery life, however, there are some physical tweaks that could help you get more juice out of that 10-15% battery power you have left. Of course, these tweaks may limit some of the features of the phone, but this may be alright if your ultimate aim is to save your phone’s battery.

Note: It’s not necessary to make all of these tweaks at the same time. You can skip the ones that you can’t afford to make in your current situation because each one of these actions will help you get some or more battery time.

1. Check battery draining apps and services
Most of the Android phones these days have a built-in system to check which phone components and apps use the most battery. You can use this information to pinpoint what is using most battery and take it down (if possible).
Go to “Settings” and tap on “Battery” option.
You should see a graph with all the apps that are draining the battery (tap on the graph if apps are not showing).
Cellular signals, WiFi signals and Screen will most probably be on top of the list. But don’t worry about them, we will address them below.

Here your focus would be to look for rogue apps or process that may be draining the battery. If you find any such app, get rid of it if possible or at least stop its processes (we will show you how to do it later in this article).

2. Turn down brightness
Screen brightness eats up a lot of battery power. If you are actively using the phone, then turning down the brightness will surely help you get a whole lot more out of the battery. Usually, you can adjust brightness from the notification bar, but you can also go to Settings > Display and adjust brightness there.

If you are in a low light area, then turning it down to zero (lowest) should be good enough to save battery and use the phone at the same time. Otherwise, adjust it low enough to the point you can see the screen’s content.
While you are at it, you should also disable “Automatic brightness” feature if you haven’t done it already. This feature automatically adjusts brightness based on light conditions in your surroundings. So it is a bad option if you are strictly moving to low brightness even in bright surroundings.

3. Turn off cellular signals
Cellular signals are one of the biggest battery hogs, especially if you are in an area where your phone struggles to get enough signals. If you are not expecting an important call, text message or using mobile internet data, then turning off cellular signals will help immensely.
From the “Settings”, go to “SIM settings” and turn off the signals to your SIM.
If you have dual SIM, then turn off signals to both of them.
You may also be able to do this from the notification bar.

4. Turn off WiFi signals & location data
WiFi signals also contribute a lot in draining the battery, and not always you may be using the WiFi. If you don’t need the WiFi, then simply bring down the notification bar and turn off the WiFi signals.
However, this doesn’t mean you should replace WiFi with internet data, as the Internet data drains, even more battery.

The location services in your Android phone use cellular signals, WiFi signals and GPS, so you can guess how much power it may be using. Many apps and Google services use location data. However, you don’t need location based services all the time and should disable it when you have a low battery.
Go to “Settings” and then tap on “Location”. Here tap on the green switch at the top right corner to turn off location data.

5. Use the built-in battery power saver
Most of the new Android phones come with battery power saver mode to put the phone in the state where it uses the least battery. Battery saver mode turns off background services, auto-sync, GPS location and decreases performance to help you get more juice out of the battery.

In such mode, you may even get multiple hours of uptime in standby mode, and you will still be able to take advantage of cellular and WiFi services. Of course, the performance is affected in this mode, as well as some of the background services, but it’s worth it if you want to survive on low battery.

Usually, the phone will automatically prompt you to switch to battery saver mode along with the low battery prompt. However, do the following steps, if you want to manually:

Go to “Settings” and tap on “Battery”.
You should find all the battery power saving options here.
Depending on your Android phone manufacturer, there might be more than one power saving modes.
Carefully read the description and choose the right one.
6. Stop running apps
Many apps keeping running in the background even if they’re not active. An example can be instant messaging apps that run in the background to notify you about new messages. If there is no need, you can turn these apps off to increase battery sustain.
Go to “Settings” and tap on “Apps”.
Here swipe left to move to the “Running” tab and you will see all the background apps.
Simply tap on the ones you don’t want to run in the background and select “Stop”.

However, make sure you only stop the ones that are not needed by the system, such as third-party apps.

7. Use a single color wallpaper
This might not be the biggest battery saver tip, but it still helps. Most of the Smartphones today use an Amoled screen that uses power to light up colorful pixels. If you will have a single color dark wallpaper, then the screen will have to use less power to show the display.
Best option would be to switch to a completely black wallpaper, or any other dark color wallpaper like dark blue or purple. You can also keep a dark wallpaper with you all the time and switch to it when the battery goes low. Also, never use a live wallpaper when the battery is low, as it’s a serious battery drainer.
In case your smartphone has LED display, switch to a light single color wallpaper (preferably white) as LED uses a constant backlight.

8. Put apps on hibernation
If you are running Android Marshmallow, you can take advantage of the new Doze feature that will automatically hibernate apps when the phone is on standby. With the Doze feature, you can survive 8+ hours on standby mode even with low battery. The hibernated apps will not use any CPU, RAM, network and other resources, so they will not use any battery power either.
If you have an older device running lollipop or older Android version, then you can use the free Greenify app that does the same thing.

9. Turn off auto sync
Many apps continuously sync data with associated accounts for backup and synchronization purposes. After every few minutes, these sync options trigger to look for new data to be synced. This obviously uses more battery power, and things get even worse when new data is available and starts getting synced. You should disable auto syncing while the battery is low to conserve power.
Go to “Settings” and tap on “Accounts”.
You will see all your accounts here, such as Google, Facebook or Skype account.
Tap on each account and turn off all the app data that is being synced to these accounts.
There will be a toggle next to each app that you can use to turn off/on syncing.
10. Quick battery saving tips
Below are some quick battery saver tips that may help you in your particular situation:
Try to keep the phone in standby mode as much as possible. Your phone can survive many hours in standby mode even with low battery.
If you are not waiting for a call or message and instead need to do something else later, then switch off the phone.
In case you don’t need to be online and aren’t waiting for any call or messages either, try to turn the Airplane mode on. The Airplane mode will disable all signals to and from your phone, as signals use the most battery.
If your Android’s battery can’t keep up with your daily routine, then you might be interested in buying a portable battery pack or getting a smart charger that can be powered by Sunlight or any other source. A battery pack can be bought for less than $10, but it will give your Android phone another full charge (or multiple charges!).

Programming / Steps To Setting Up Backdoor In Windows by TrillionBrains(m): 10:08pm On Jan 28, 2017
STEPS TO SETTING UP BACKDOOR IN WINDOWS
Lets assume that you have just cracked victim's windows password. or simply got access to his windows for some time. Can you make some changes in windows so that you could access the windows again even if victim changes the password ?? or Can you make any changes in your own windows so that you could access it anytime even if anybody sets/changes password ?
Simply Can we set a backdoor in windows ?
Yes we can smiley .

Backdoor actually means maintaining access.
okay lets do one thing first. Open your command prompt (run as administrator in win 7/vista).
Type the following command :
Syntax : net user account.name *
Example: net user administrator *
and hit enter. Set any password for that account.
Hopefully your new password must have been set. did you notice one thing ? It didn't ask you to confirm old password. Now suppose if anyhow we manage to access command prompt at logon screen (without logging in), we can easily change/clear password.
Okay lets move on.
Now press shift key five times and you must have got a dialog box "sticky keys" on screen.
Sticky keys is a feature that makes it easy for users who have physical disablilities to press multiple keys at time. This is the only feature which can be used before logging in at logon screen ( as per my knowledge). I repeat this feature can be used at logon screen by pressing shift key five times.
Whenevr we start an application like paint, we are actually running mspaint.exe placed in C:\windows\system32. or command prompt, we are running cmd.exe placed in system32 directory, similary
When we press shift key 5 times or use sticky keys feature, system actually starts the executable file
sethc.exe placed in system32 directory. This means if we rename cmd.exe to sethc.exe and press shift 5 times, system would again start sethc.exe but instead of sticky keys the command prompt will be opened.
But you just cant simply rename it or change system32 files. Follow the tutorial for that.
Tutorial :
* Go to C:\windows\system32
* Copy cmd.exe on your desktop and rename it to sethc.exe .
*Now copy that file and paste again in system32 directory.
@ Windows XP Users
Hopefully existing orignal sethc.exe must have been replaced and your job is done. Now press shift five times and you would see command prompt on screen. You can access command prompt at windows logon screen and change/clear the password easily using "net user" command.
Note: You can also do these changes while using windows Guest Account. But when you would access command prompt at logon screen, you can change/clear password even of administrator's account. This is exactly how , we can hack into administrator's account through guest account.
@ Windows vista/7 Users
You must have got a pop up box saying "Access Denied".
Actually you can not change system32 directory files until you do not have the permissions. You can not have the permissions until you do not have the ownership. So lets take ownership, change permissions, just follow the steps.
1. Right click on sethc.exe and run as administrator. Again right click on sethc.exe, open properties.
Click on Advanced tab , then on owner and click edit, change the owner from "trusted installer" to "administrator" and click apply.
2. Then click on 'Edit' in security tab to edit permissions. Click on 'Administrators' , give it full control
and apply changes.
Okay its done now.
Now try replacing the orignal sethc.exe with our sethc.exe (got by renaming cmd.exe).
Press shift key five times and hopefully you would get command prompt on the screen instead of sticky keys.
Enjoy Command prompt at logon screen...
So do not forget to set this backdoor whenever you would get friend's laptop for a few minutes...

Science/Technology / 6 Of The Best And Amazing Ways To Send Large Files Online by TrillionBrains(m): 12:46pm On Jan 26, 2017
There are some people who still think that sending or sharing files to other instantly is quite troublesome and difficult. Well, they are definitely wrong because developers have created some amazing apps for file-sharing these recent years, and each of these mobile apps is so amazing that you’ll get confused as which one to choose.
After trying lots of them, We've come to conclusion on some of the best file-sharing platforms which you should have in your phone. Of course, we rated these apps based on the ease of usage as well as some pros and cons that come with them. So, let’s dig into the list to know more about these apps. Shall we..
WeTransfer

"WeTransfer" has become one of the leading file-sharing mobile apps to date. One of the main reasons why you should use this app is due to the simplicity of its file sharing/sending procedure. Yes, as soon as you get to the official site, you can start sending files to your friends without even registering.
However, remember that the file you send will be available for a week. Also, there is a 20gb file size limitation per transfer, which is actually quite enough. But if you need more expiration time and sending file capacity, you can purchase the plus version which lets you choose your own expiration time for the file you send. The file limitation? Unlimited!
As for the receiver, they will get an email notification which will direct them to the main site to get the file. Yes, as easy as that. It is available for Android, as well as iOS phones. WeTransfer is also ‘kind’ on your phone because the size of the app is small, and it doesn’t even take much RAM when you are using it.
Pros

Easy to use, no need to register
Also very easy for the receiver to download the file
Big size limitation (even for the free user)
The size of mobile app is small
Attractive background and sound during downloading and uploading

Cons

There is a time expiration (7 days) for the free users before the file can be downloaded by the receiver.

Pibox
Pibox is one of the most unique file-sending platforms out there. Aside from the ability to share or send files, this app lets you chat with your friends in a messenger-like mode. So, if you are a great fan of chatting, you will definitely love Pibox.
However, you have to register first before you can start sending files or chatting with your friends. Also, you have to invite your friends using their phone numbers to start chatting and sharing files.
Anyway, after registering, you will be given a free 3 GB storage to use. You can keep increasing the storage up to 1000 GB by inviting your friends to register in Pibox. So far, there is no paid version for Pibox, so every user is treated the same here. Pibox is currently available for Android and desktop. The developers of the app say that the iOS version will be developed soon.
Pros

No quality loss upon sharing files between users
3 GB free cloud storage after registering for the first time. You can increase it up to 1000 GB by inviting your friends to join Pibox
You can chat with your friends in a private or group chatroom
Fast uploading speed
The app is free for everybody, means that everybody gets the same services
You can change your profile picture as you prefer

Cons

No browser bookmarklet available yet
You can only invite your friends via their phone number
Currently, Pibox is only available for Android users

Filemail
Filemail is quite similar to WeTransfer in term of sharing/sending simplicity. You can stay as a free user if you want, and don’t even need to register to start sending files to your friends.
However, unlike WeTransfer, Filemail offers 30 GB size limitation for file sending. The receiver has 7 days time limit to download the file you send before it’s gone forever. However, the pro and business version lets you send unlimited file size as well as controlling the time expiration for the file you send.

Filemail also has other awesome extensions to use for free, i.e., Filemail downloader and receiver (to increase download speed) and Filemail API (for developers). This app is available for Desktop, Mac, Android, iOS and Linux.
Pros

Very easy to use for both the sender and receiver
No registration needed (if you are a free user)
The files shared maintain their original quality
30 GB size limit to send files if you are a free user, and it’s unlimited if you buy the pro/business version
Supports almost any major platforms, such as Android, iOS, Mac, Windows and even Linux
Fast-response and helpful customer service
There is free Filemail Downloader and Receiver extension to make your uploading or downloading process faster
Filemail API is also available for developers

Cons

The uploading speed is rather slow compared to the other file-sharing program
There is a bug that says ‘no mobile data allowed, rescheduling transfer’ before you send files via mobile app. Filemail team hasn’t done anything to fix the bug or even answered the complaints from mobile users
Upon uploading, if you close the page, means your process will be lost and you have to start over
There is a 7 days time expiration for the free user

Science/Technology / Bet You Never Knew About These Useful Handy Windows Tools by TrillionBrains(m): 12:09am On Jan 23, 2017
ALL THESE, ARE IN YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEM:
Windows has many built-in tools and functions that make everyday tasks a lot easier. However, the majority of these tools are difficult to find and use effectively. Therefore, to help you get the most out of Windows, here's a list of 7 lesser-known Windows tools. These tools are very effective and can help you out a lot if you learn how to use them.

1. System Configuration:
System configuration gives you powerful configuration options in a single window.
To access System configuration options, press the Windows + R keys and type "msconfig" in the "Run" dialog. You will then see multiple tabs to configure the system, like:
Boot
Here you change boot options, such as boot into Safe Mode, change the default operating system, and other similar boot options.
You can also go to "Advanced Options" to limit RAM usage as well as to control how much processor cores Windows should use.
Services
In services, you can find a list of background services that start to work as soon as Windows starts up.
The majority of them are Microsoft services that you should not mess around with, but there is the option of selecting "Hide all Microsoft services" so that you can only see all third-party background services.
You should disabled the background services that you don't want to use as they are using resources and can slow your computer down.
Startup
In Windows 8 and 10, this option has been relocated to Windows Task Manager.
Here you can see all the programs that start when Windows boots. To speed up your computer, you should disable programs that start up with windows.

2. Event Viewer:
Windows keeps a record of all the events, which can be accessed in the Windows Event Viewer. It shows Windows services accessed, warnings and errors, and logins and other similar data that can be used for detecting activity or problems.
I usually use it to detect unauthorized access to my PC.
To access the Event Viewer, go to Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. Alternatively, you can press Windows + R key and type "eventvwr" in the "Run" dialog.
Event Viewer can be used for many purposes, but detecting a problem is one of its main functions. In the main interface, Event Viewer will show all warnings and errors.
However, you don't need to pay attention to them unless you actually have a problem. Windows is very sensitive when it comes down to creating error logs, so even a slight change in behavior will lead to an error or warning entry in the Event Viewer.
If you've recently had a problem - like your PC crashed - then you can go to the Event Viewer and check the errors that occurred during that specific time. Double clicking on an event will provide you with more details and solutions.

3. Data Usage Tracker:
If you have Windows 8.1 or 10, then you can take advantage of the built-in data usage tracker to see how much internet data you have used. If you have limited internet usage, then this could save you from extra data usage charges.
To check, go to Settings and click on "Network & Internet." Here you will see the total data that you have used in the last 30 days in the "Data Usage" section.

4. Startup Repair:
Windows 8 and 10 both come with a native "Startup Repair" tool that will help you fix common startup issues that may be slowing your computer's boot process or even preventing Windows from starting.
If you can access Windows, then press and hold the "Shift" key and click the "Restart" button to restart Windows boot options. If Windows isn't starting, the boot options should open up automatically after 2-3 attempts.
In the boot options, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair. Then, just click on the "Startup Repair" option and it will automatically scan and fix any startup problems.

5. Task Scheduler:
This is one of the most powerful tools that Windows has to offer, but it's often neglected. The Task Scheduler allows you to schedule important tasks and even handle daily tasks automatically without manual intervention from your side.
You can start up a program, use Window functions, send emails or simply show an important message at a specific time or as a response to a specific event (for example, logging in). Want to scan your computer once a week with your antivirus program? Task Scheduler can do that for you.
If you want to take advantage of this tool, you can find it under Administrative tools or you can type "taskchd.msc" in the "Run" dialog.
To get started, click on the "Action" menu at the top and then select "Create Basic Task." A wizard will pop up and guide you through how to schedule a task.

6. Reliability Monitor :
This is kind of like the Event Viewer tool, but it's very easy to read and only lists problems that are harmful.
If you have recently been having problems with an application or Windows, then the Reliability Monitor may be able to help.
To access this tool, go to Control Panel > System and Security > Security and Maintenance. Click on "Maintenance" and select "View reliability history."
Reliability Monitor will provide a performance graph over time complete with errors and problems listed under each day. You can then click on a day to see all the errors or events, and double clicking an errors will provide more details and solutions.

7. Memory Diagnostic:
You don't need someone else to check whether the memory (RAM) of your PC is working or not, as Windows has a built-in Memory Diagnostic tool that does it for you. It will scan your computer for any memory issues and let you know of bad memory.
Note: A Memory Diagnostic scan requires your PC to restart. So save everything before using this function.
To access this tool, type "mdsched.exe" in the "Run" dialog and hit enter. You will then be asked whether you'd like to "Restart" and scan the PC. Choose the appropriate option and your PC will restart then start the Memory Diagnostic scan.
Once it has been completed (5-10 minutes usually), your PC will restart and you'll get a diagnostic report when you login.

Science/Technology / Microsoft Hardens Their Latest Windows 10 Version Against Hackers by TrillionBrains(m): 12:22am On Jan 19, 2017
Microsoft has fortified the latest version of Windows to make it more secure than previous editions, but the strongest protections will be available only to those willing to pay a steep price for them.
Windows 10 Anniversary Update has introduced many mitigation techniques in core Windows components and the Microsoft Edge browser, helping protect customers from entire classes of exploits for very recent and even undisclosed vulnerabilities, Matt Oh and Elia Florio of Microsoft's Windows Defender ATP Research Team wrote in an online post last week.
Countering unidentified vulnerabilities -- also known as "zero day" vulnerabilities -- is particularly important because they are a powerful tool used to penetrate systems and steal data by attackers, especially those working for nation-states.
Rather than focus on a single vulnerability, Microsoft is focusing on mitigation techniques that counter classes of exploits, Oh and Florio explained.
"As a result, these mitigation techniques are significantly reducing attack surfaces that would have been available to future Zero-Day exploits," they wrote.

Paying for Protection
For the most effective post-breach protection, customers should sign up for Windows Defender ATP, Oh and Florio suggested, a service that is available only to users of Windows Enterprise E5.
That appears to be a departure from how Windows security was treated in the past, observed Michael Cherry, an analyst with Directions on Microsoft.
When Microsoft launched its Trustworthy Computing initiative in 2002, there was a commitment to making all versions of Windows equally secure, he recalled.
"Now, what Microsoft is saying in a subtle way," Cherry told TechNewsWorld, is that "to be the most secure on Windows, you should be using Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection -- but we're saving that for our best customers, our customers willing to pay for the enterprise edition. That's a big change that's happening in Windows security."

What Users Get
Nevertheless, the security improvements in the new Windows 10 Anniversary Update are worthwhile for consumers.
"This is great news for users," said Jerome Segura, a senior security researcher for Malwarebytes.
"Microsoft is addressing zero days and exploits in general by sandboxing a lot of the components in the operating system," he told TechNewsWorld.
Sandboxing is a technique used to isolate activity in a space where it can be observed without affecting its surroundings. If it behaves badly in the sandbox, then it won't be allowed to play with the other parts of a system.
Sandbox techniques were used in Windows 10 to neutralize an exploit that used corrupt fonts to gain escalated privileges on a system, Microsoft's Oh and Florio explained. Escalated privileges allow an intruder greater freedom to roam and access data on a network.

Room for Improvement
While Microsoft is making good progress in hardening the Windows kernel, it could improve the operating system's security in other areas, too. One of those areas is third-party applications and components.
"While it's trying to ensure that its operating system is secure, it still depends on Flash, Java and other pieces of software. At the end of the day, the security of the system is going to depend on all the pieces, not just what Microsoft ships," Malwarebytes' Segura observed.
"You can have an OS that's safe, but if you have an outdated Flash plug-in, you can still get infected," he pointed out.
Hackers also are exploiting Microsoft Office documents.
"Microsoft needs to tighten up legacy code like macros -- either disable it or sandbox it," Segura said.

Threat to Security Vendors?
As Windows security improves, will it threaten the security ecosystem that has grown up around the OS?
"Ultimately, Microsoft's new anti-exploit features in Windows calls into question the value of legacy antivirus protections," said Simon Crosby, CTO of Bromium.
"However, it is important to note that relatively few enterprises use Windows 10 yet, so any Microsoft mitigation in Windows 10 that fails to address the legacy Windows installed base cannot address threats targeting [the security ecosystem]," he told TechNewsWorld.
Windows users still need to use antivirus programs, added Jack E. Gold, founder and principal analyst with J.Gold Associates. "Microsoft is pushing its antivirus program," he told TechNewsWorld, "so it's not saying you don't need antivirus anymore."

Science/Technology / Astonishing Tips To Help Protect Your Privacy On The Web by TrillionBrains(m): 10:24pm On Jan 16, 2017
7 Important On-line Security Habits
The internet is such a central part of our lives now, with all of our correspondence via email and instant messaging and the ability to purchase anything we need online. However, the ease that the internet has introduced to our lives does not come without a cost. That cost? Some of our privacy. Identity theft is not a rare incident and doesn't have to include a lost wallet. Today's hackers and cyber criminals break into personal email and social accounts and use information found there to transfer money or blackmail others with it.
There are many ways to defend yourselves, but here are the 7 basic things you need to do to avoid being easy targets, and they're not hard to do, so pass them along and make everyone safer.

1. When Checking Email, Use The Browser's 'Incognito' Mode
When you browse the web, information is stored on your browsing history, images, videos and text in a folder called a 'cache'. The cache stores all the information about a certain webpage so that it loads faster the next time you visit.

By using the 'incognito' mode (available on Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox), the information about your searching habits isn't stored and every time you visit the website will be the first time. While there are certain upsides of allowing the website to suit itself to you, there may be information, like your credit card or banking details, that you don't want the website to remember. This is the time to switch on the 'incognito' function in your browser's tools.
Tip: Try to carry out all online financial dealings (e.g. making a credit card purchase) on a secure page (look for the https instead of the regular http). This gives you some protection from hackers, but it doesn't mean the site itself cannot keep your details. Most do so only to confirm your identity.
2. Use a Passcode on Your Computer and Smartphone
It's always a good idea to secure your devices with a password. Although you may find this a nuisance, especially if you struggle to remember passwords, it is important that you and only you have access to your devices just in case they end up in the wrong hands. If your computer or phone has a password, no one but you can access the information, even if you lose it. So think of a simple password that will be easy enough for you to remember and use it on your computer and phone. This simple step could save you a lot of worry and headaches in the case that your device is lost or stolen.

Tip: Don't forget, it's better to just lose the device than lose the device AND the personal information you have stored on it.

3. Know What People Are Saying About You Online
If you are worried about what others may be writing about you online, or want to look out for a child or friend on the web, you can use a free service called Google alerts. By setting a Google alert with your name, every time something is said about you online, you will be sent an alert to your inbox. It is simple to set up by going to http://www.google.com/alerts. There, type in your name or any variations of it. You can choose how often you'd like to be notified as well as what kinds of posts are relevant to you.
Tip: Make sure you put quotations around your name so the search engine knows exactly what to look for (Example: "James Dean"wink.

4. Get in the Habit of Signing Out When you are using a social media site, or just your email account, it is important that you remember to log or sign out after you've finished using it.
This will ensure that no one else can enter your account when you leave the site or that your settings are not saved on the computer for the next user. This is an especially important step for those that share their computer with others or leave their computer at work or home. If you are worried about forgetting your passwords and user names, write them down in a safe and memorable place.

Tip: There are programs that are safe to use and remember your passwords for you, such as RoboForm.

5. Check Your Privacy Settings
While they may be a bit confusing, it is important to check the privacy settings of your social media and email accounts to make sure that you aren't sharing private information. This is important because many of these sites change their privacy settings regularly (sometimes without notifying you). If there is a setting you don't understand, make sure to look it up. You should know about all the privacy options available so you can apply them when you need it most.
Tip: Below is where you'll find your privacy settings on Facebook. Make sure to read all the options carefully before choosing your desired level of security.

6. Use Complex Passwords
Probably the most important tip on this list. Believe it or not, if someone gets a hold of your username, it may be easier than you think to get a hold of your password. A lot has been made of hackers being geniuses who crack complex codes. The truth is, most of them are just very good at guessing passwords or have made programs that do that for them.
Your best bet is to first, make sure that your passwords are different for every site and that they aren't too simple, like '1234' or your birthday. Instead, use a word that has no context to anyone but you (and especially not something that can be found on your social profile) or even a random string of letters and numbers (although of course those are hard to remember).
Tip: A great password is one that is easy to remember but uses unusual characters, for example: "iSem0untain" instead of "ice-mountain".

7. Clear Browser History
As mentioned above, when you browse the web, information about the sites you visited is saved in a 'cache', or file of all your internet information. If you share a computer with your family or use it in a public place (including your work), make sure you clean up your browser history each month to make sure that no one can see what you see on the web, which may include sensitive, personal or financial information. This can include your credit card information, identification numbers and so on, so this is an important step to remember if you are concerned about your online security.
Tip: Most browsers have the erase history option in either their privacy or history menus.

So remember, while the internet is an amazing tool and a fun opportunity to add to your knowledge, it's important to remember to have fun while keeping yourself secure and safe from identity theft.

Webmasters / Zuckerberg To Visit Every State In The US: The Start Of A Political Career? by TrillionBrains(m): 1:43pm On Jan 12, 2017
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, has given more credence to growing rumors that he is planning an eventual move into political life, by announcing that he intends traveling across the United States in 2017, and meeting people in every state.

The news which was released in a Facebook post with Zuckerberg saying:
“My personal challenge for 2017 is to have visited and met people in every state in the US by the end of the year. I’ve spent significant time in many states already, so I’ll need to travel to about 30 states this year to complete this challenge… For decades, technology and globalization have made us more productive and connected. This has created many benefits, but for a lot of people it has also made life more challenging. This has contributed to a greater sense of division than I have felt in my lifetime. We need to find a way to change the game so it works for everyone.”

The journey, he said, will involve road trips with his wife Priscilla Chan, meetings with scientists and teachers, visits to Facebook offices, and would also call into small towns and universities.
It’s the latest move that reveal Zuckerberg’s future plans. In December 2016, court filings revealed that he and members of the Facebook board had discussed how he could remain in charge of Facebook, while pursuing a political career.

Science/Technology / Apple And Windows Device: A Guide To The Differences by TrillionBrains(m): 12:36pm On Jan 10, 2017
I feel like I am one of the few people who can’t keep apace with all the technological developments in the computer world. Whenever I am just getting used to my Windows computer it seems like it starts to go wrong and I have to fix or replace it. Bewildered, I have often wondered what the differences between the Apple Mac and normal Windows PCs are, and whether I should make a change. So, I was very pleased to see this simple guide that breaks down what each is good at, helping me decide which best suits my needs.

First follows a brief list of the advantages of the two computer types, then a more detailed look at 7 ways Windows and Apple based desktops differ.

Why Should You Purchase a Windows-Run PC? • Good low prices
• Vast software compatibility
• Flexibility when it comes to customizing your computer
Why Should You Purchase an Apple Mac? • Ease of use
• Reliable security
• If you like to create websites, videos, etc.
• Greater customer service

1. Operating System
An operating system, or OS, manages computer hardware and software resources. Being the most important programs on a computer, it provides common services for various other computer programs. It helps recognize keyboard and mouse input, sending it to the monitor, keeps track of files and disk directories, and controls peripheral devices like disk drives, printers and USB connected phones and MP3 players. Most PCs are managed by one of Windows’ OSs: Windows XP, 8 and 10 are the most important. Apple desktop computers are usually run by OS X (pronounced ten).
Differences
Both are excellent operating systems, and offer tremendous performance. However you may find that Macs have much faster processors than Windows. They are, however, a little short on RAM, hard disk space and USB ports, where Windows machines usually offer a lot. So if you want a quick smooth running system, the Apple is superior. But if you are concerned more with memory power, Windows offers you the most.

2. Software
A computer is built with hardware; the physical material you can see. The internal part of the computer that makes encoded information and instructions is the software. Software is a type of computer program.

Differences
Windows dominates in this area and has done so for years, being more well known for a longer period of time and having a greater market share. Developers therefore make Windows compatibility their priority, and so, it offers more choice. This is particularly true for the growing number of people of all ages who play video games on their computers. On the other hand, Apple is usually considered better for creative types, who wish to run their own websites, make videos or anything of that kind. Overall, though, there is no great difference, and now you can even use Microsoft Office on Mac.

3. Security
A computer virus is known as malware, which like a biological virus, replicates by reproducing itself in order to move from one host computer to another, usually online. Viruses are man-made malware which are created in order to steal sensitive information from victims, or to spread political messages, or to find fault with prominent software.

Differences
The flip side of Windows’ huge recognizability is its greater vulnerability to Trojan viruses. Windows is the bigger target for criminals and it is principally for this reason that, relatively speaking, the Mac is considered much safer. So, if security is your primary concern, Apple should offer you peace of mind.

4. Repairs
Every now and then something goes wrong with a computer that you just can’t figure out. At this point you will take your computer to a professional for repairing, which unfortunately can be costly.

Differences
In total there are only 18 types of Macs. Whereas Windows is just an operating system and not a PC manufacturer, there are many different PC machines. If you have a problem with your Mac you know exactly who to deal with, and they have great understanding of their products. The PC world on the other hand is too vast for most of us to entirely come to grips with. Again if you have been burned by PC failures in the past you might prefer to use a Mac, since they offer excellent customer care.

5. Customization Versus Usability
There are at least two types of computer users, which neatly fall into a key distinction between Windows and Apple. Some like to use a computer as if it were an advanced television, that you can more or less take from the box, turn on and start using. Others want to customize their computer, optimizing it so it can perform most efficiently the user’s preferred tasks.

Differences
Apple Macs are famously user friendly, with customers being delighted that they are so simple to set up and start enjoying. PCs on the other hand offer a huge range of different experiences, since there are so many different models. However, if you prefer to customize your computer to suit your personal needs there is no denying the astonishing versatility of Windows based computers.

6. Price
People spend varying amounts of money on their computers. If money is not no object you will need to try and balance what you can spend versus what you actually want from a computer.

Differences
Macs are notably expensive, since Apple put a premium on high quality. They will set you back over $1000, whereas Windows PCs can be bought at every price level. Most people who purchase expensive desktops go for a Mac (+80%), most people on a budget choose Windows based PCs, hence the Windows market is vast. So, if you want a high quality product the market suggests you would be better off investing in an Apple Mac, but if you are on budget, Windows offers terrific value for money. These days even the lowest priced computers perform the most common jobs very well. So if you just want to internet browse then there is no need to spend too much money.
7. Machine Life
In days gone by we might have expected our expensive appliances, our refrigerators, TVs, ovens to last us for perhaps 10 years. Yet we all sense that technological developments and competitive pricing mean that we don’t wait so long to replace our items. This realization couples with a widely held suspicion that manufacturers deliberately build computers with reduced life, forcing us to replace them more quickly than we expected.

Differences
Many have said that if you pay double price, expect double the life, and if you pay half, expect half the life. Yet this is not necessarily the case, and research is wanting in the area. However, if it is true then both options will be as economical as the other. We suggest that, putting security and repair problems to one side, life of the machine is not a factor in determining which system is best for your needs.
Summary
Today we have tremendous choice, when it comes to desktop computers, and this it seems, is only going to get better. Overall there are not so many great differences though between the two operating system choices we have. However, if money and choice are among your concerns you should plump for a Windows-run machine. If security, ease of use, and customer service are your biggest worries, then you may want to consider the Mac options.

Science/Technology / A Closer Look At The Internet Of Things by TrillionBrains(m): 3:08pm On Jan 09, 2017
Imagine being stuck in traffic after a long day at work and just wanting to get home, have a hot shower, and lie on the sofa in front of the TV. Now imagine being able to set everything up so it’s ready to go as soon as you arrive. How would you do so? By means of your smartphone, of course!
With a few taps on your device’s screen, you’ll be able to instruct your home to prepare the hot water for your bath, set the air conditioning to just the right temperature, put the TV on your favorite channel. At the last minute, you also decide that you want a coffee when you arrive. No problem –you’ll find the kettle boiled and ready to go when you get in.

How would all this be possible?
That’s where the so-called 'Internet of Things' comes in. It works on the basic premise that everything linked in to it is “smart” or, in other words, has an internet connection and thus allows for the possibility for them to be manipulated remotely.
Although it may sound like something out of a science fiction novel, the Internet of Things is already here. Think of homes with smart lighting and security systems, or refrigerators that can tell you specifically what you need to stock up on when you’re at the grocery store.
Some smart homes also have the ability to prepare themselves for the arrival of any guests you may be having over in your absence. For instance, you’ll be able to unlock your front door remotely or adjust lighting and heating settings in anticipation of their arrival. Similarly, if you forget to lock your front door on your way out, or forget to turn off the lights, you’ll be able to do this at the touch of a button.
So how much of a reality is this already?

The Internet of Things has become a possibility due to the advancement of computer chips, which are nowadays no thicker than a few strands of hair. As a result, they can be embedded into appliances or devices without disrupting their core functions, thus allowing them to receive instructions and execute them accordingly.
Experts predict that Internet of Things market will be worth some $14 trillion globally by the year 2020, and there will be no less than 50 billion smart devices making it up. These smart devices will range anywhere from medical chips implanted into people to monitor vital signs, to smart appliances in the home, to more complex commercial and industrial applications.
This new industry will purportedly create millions of new jobs that will be required for the development, installation and maintenance of the new systems. Experts also predict that most modern homes will be equipped with such systems within the next decade.

Where else is the Internet of Things applicable?

The applications that smart technology, or the Internet of Things, has are almost limitless. For example, farmers will be able to irrigate their plantations and check toxicity and nutrient levels in the soil remotely, which will save them a lot of trial and error. It will also allow them to look for signs of animals doing their plantations harm, or plant diseases that may have a detrimental impact on their crops.

Commerce and industry also has the possibility to better keep track of inventory, machine health, and even be alerted to any of the wares that they've sold to consumers malfunctioning and being in need of repair.
Probably the most significant field that the new technology is having an impact on is the medical field. For instance, it’s now a possibility for a tiny chip to be implanted into your body during an operation. This will allow medical practitioners to be alerted to anything that may be going wrong with your health as soon as it begins to occur. Theoretically, such a device can even be programmed to call an ambulance for you in the event that you can’t get to a phone quickly enough.

What are the risks of this new technology?
The scary reality of the modern world is that anything with a chip in it, or that has been programmed, can be hacked into by individuals that have malevolent intent. So, for instance, if you’re the owner of a smart home that gets hacked, you could end up being the victim of a burglar that walks right through your front door.
Similarly, if you own a smart car or have a medical chip implanted into your body, there’s a possibility that they can be interfered with. Imagine if your car gets shut down in the middle of a busy interstate, or someone wants to find out where you are for nefarious purposes such as kidnapping or robbery.
With regard to an implanted chip, there’s a possibility that the way in which it takes readings and gives out alerts becomes tampered with, and thus you won’t get the medical care you need, when you need it, as a result. While alarming, these are most definitely things that need to be considered.
Industry, commerce and infrastructure at large must also never allow themselves get to the point where they get too reliant on these systems for their operations. This is because although machines, automation, and computers can make everything faster, more efficient and less taxing, the stark reality is that these things can and will go wrong, not to mention that people who have bad intentions can interfere with them.

10 Useful Tips To Get to Grips with Your iOS
Apple made iOS 10 available as a free update for the iPhone and iPad back in September. Whether you have been using iOS 10 for weeks or you've just installed it, there is an awful lot to learn. iOS 10 is chock full of brand new features and app updates which were designed to refine and improve the experience when using an iPhone or iPad. You're probably already familiar with some of the basics features of iOS 10, but as you're about to see, there are many neat hidden features. The following 12 tips and tricks will help you become an iOS 10 pro in a matter of minutes.
If you have a device which uses Android, click here for some great tips.

1. Delete Stock Apple Apps:

iOS 10, for the very first time, lets you delete stock apps that you have no intention of using. This means that you can free up a small amount of space and it allows you to remove them from the Home Screen without having to stash them away in a folder. To delete, long-press on any app that you don't want until they start to wiggle, and then tap the "X" in the top-left corner to delete. You can always reinstall any deleted app later from the App Store.
2. Get a Quick Look at Your Notifications
Thanks to iOS 10, you don't need to press any buttons to see your notifications - you can simply set your iPhone so that when it's picked up, the screen will come to life. To do this, go to Settings > Display and Brightness > Raise to Wake. This allows you to quickly check your notifications without having to push the power or home button.
3. Unlock your iPhone without Having to Press the Home Button
With iOS 10, Apple have changed the way you can unlock your screen - it's no longer possible to swipe to unlock it. Now, to unlock, you have to push the Home button and then type in a password. However, there is a way to bypass this, and it involves Touch ID. To set up Touch ID, go to Settings > Touch ID and Passcode. Then, to change the way you unlock your phone, go back to Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button and toggle Rest Finger to Open to On.
Now you can unlock your phone by simply placing your finger on the Home button.

4. How to Use the New Control Center
Small tweaks have been made to the iOs 10 Control Center. To access it, swipe up from the bottom of your screen. Previously, Control Center was one page with icons and sliders for everything that can be enabled, adjusted, or opened, but with iOS 10 there are two pages. Page 1 shows the screen brightness slider, AIRPlay, Airdrop, and shortcuts to apps such as the Camera and the Clock. If you swipe from right to left, you'll find yourself on the second page that contains all of the music controls

5. How to Quickly Open Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Battery Settings
Instead of having to search through your settings to check Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections, you can rely on 3D Touch. Simply long-press on the Settings app to bring up the options for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Battery. Tapping any of these will bring you to their relevant settings page.

6. Prioritize Downloads
If you have multiple apps downloading/updating at the same time, you can decide which ones to prioritize by pressing down on the app and tapping on Prioritize Download. Here, you can also pause and cancel downloads.

7. How to Know if a Call is Spam or Scam
Download the Hiya app and turn it on in Settings > Phone > Call Blocking and Identification. Once enabled, alerts will pop up if the number is connected to spam or is a scan. What a great way to get rid of annoying calls!

8. Change Your Flashlight's Brightness
Your iPhone needs 3D Touch capabilities in order to make use of this function. To do this, start by opening the control panel, then long-press the flashlight icon to bring up Bright, Medium and Low brightness settings.
9. Filter Unread Emails
You can filter your emails in Mail so that you can only see your unread messages. To do this, tap the circular icon in the bottom left of the screen - it will turn blue and you'll see a message that reads "Filtered by: Unread". To turn it off, simply tap the icon again.

10. Open the Camera from the Lock Screen
To do this, simply swipe in from the right edge of the screen.

Computers / 15 Ways Technology Could Change/destroy Our Dear World In The Next Few Decades by TrillionBrains(m): 4:12pm On Jan 05, 2017
How We Could Go a Long Way With The Aid Of Technology in the Next Decade
Hard to imagine how our dear World will be in 10 years time.

1. In 2 years, unlimited free data storage for 90% of humans
It’s believed that unlimited storage for all your files will (or could) be given to you free of charge, very soon, meaning you’ll never need to delete anything ever again due to lack of space. Companies will be able to do this as the cost of hard drive gigabytes falls precipitately.

2. By 2022, 1 trillion sensors to be online

Sensors are getting so cheap, and computers so powerful that soon there’ll be hardly any reason for any electronic device (or otherwise) not to be wired to the internet. This’ll mean that we’ll be able to perceive our environment digitally as well as or perhaps even better than we can physically.

3. By 2022, 10% of us will wear clothes hooked up to the web
Already we have people that own watches and rings with connections to the internet, and there’s no sign that the fad will stop there. In just a few years your outfit (or the outfit of some rich guy on TV) will be connected to the World Wide Web. It might seem like there’s no point to this, but perhaps the reason will come afterwards.

4. By 2022, 3D-printed cars to be made
One automotive company, Local Motors, is set to steal ahead of its rivals by producing a full-sized 3D car using printers, after Audi showed they could make a miniature one recently. It might sound strange now, but perhaps, if it brings prices down, you’ll be driving one in a few years.

5. By 2025, implantable mobile phones to be available to buy
The thinking here is that a mobile phone will soon be able to keep check on your health and vital signs, which it will do better by being permanently implanted within you. What’s more, such devices will perhaps reach a stage that they can interpret our thoughts and transmit them to other users. This could all be coming in the next few years.

6. By 2023, 10% of reading glasses to be wired to the web
Technological experts and futurists believe that soon, eyeglasses will be hooked up to the internet to give direct access to apps which we can control hands free. Google Glass has already set sail on this journey, and has even started experimenting with contact lenses that operate eye tracking technology.

7. By 2024, internet access to be considered a human right
Big tech giants like Facebook and Google are pioneering attempts to spread internet access to remote places via drones, satellites and balloons. Soon, the idea of being without internet will so shock people that they will demand to never be without it again. It will become politically necessary for nations to promise permanent everlasting online access, as if it were a human right.

8. By 2024, half our internet traffic will be from appliances and devices
Almost all the internet traffic we generate today comes from our computers and phones. Yet soon, since all our domestic appliances and devices will also be hooked up, only half of our internet use will come through the phone and computer.

9. By 2025, 5% of consumer products to be 3D printed
The cost of 3D printers, and the tasks they can perform, is expected to rapidly change in the next few years. This will enable small start-ups to manufacture their own creations at home on demand, making production much easier than it currently is. Things will be produced and disseminated faster than ever before.

10. By 2026, Driver-less cars to account for 10% of all cars in the US
Driver-less cars have generated a lot of interest, since they promise to increase safety and cut down on harmful emissions. That’s why big techno companies and automakers like Toyota are already making prototype cars that drive themselves. It will probably be by 2026 that 1 in 10 of us will own one of these incredible gadgets.

Science/Technology / 7 Easy Steps To Increase Your Computer's Speed With These Cracking Tips... by TrillionBrains(m): 2:27pm On Jan 05, 2017
Computers have a tendency to slow down for a number of different reasons, but the primary one is using them. The more programs and files that proliferate on their hard drives, the more extensions we add to their web browsers, and the more they’re turned on, a slow-down is inevitable. With that being said, these ill-effects can be diminished or mitigated completely by adopting better habits for treating our computers. Here are 11 reasons why your computer has slowed down, and what you can do to remedy its sluggishness:

1. Your web browser has too many add-ons (attachment)
When surfing the internet, you’ll sometimes get asked whether you want to add an extension to your browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari et al.) to give it some added functionality. While some of these extensions are legitimate, you should always be wary of what you say yes to, and this is because some of them are not what they claim to be, and just serve to slow your computer down. In a worst-case scenario, such browser extensions can even infect your machine with a virus.

How to remedy
The only way around this browser extension problem is to disable any extensions that you’re not using or suspect may be harmful. You can also consider uninstalling them entirely. Here’s how to go about it:

If you use Firefox
Point to the Menu button on the far-right of your web browser, then select Add-ons/Extensions. Select Disable or Remove to remove an extension of your choice.

If you use Chrome
Right-click on the extension button pertaining to the extension of your choice, or Manage Extensions. Using the latter option, all you need to do is uncheck the box pertaining to the extension you wish to remove, or click on the trash can icon to delete the extension for good.
Incredible Tricks To Do With Notepad In Your PC
If you use Safari
Point to the Safari button in the top-left of your web browser, then click Preferences - Security - Extensions. Select the extension of your choice to uninstall. Note that you also have the option to turn off the extension rather than delete it.

If you use Internet Explorer (or Microsoft Edge)
Point to Tools in the drop-down menu, followed by Add-ons. Once you’ve done that, select Show All Add-ons. Select the offending web extension, then select either Disable or Remove.

2. Your hard drive is on its last legs
Seeing as hard drives consist of many moving parts, they’re prone to failure sooner or later. The only way around this is to ensure you back up all your important files and photos in a secure location, such as Google Drive or Dropbox.
How to remedy
The first thing you need to do, to see if your hard drive is on its way out, is to run a hard drive check. There’s a handy program called HDTune that you can download to run a “health check” on it. This software will give you a clear indication of whether you’re going to need to replace your hard drive in the near future, or whether you currently have no cause for concern. If the program does tell you that you’ll need a replacement soon, use the aforementioned Google Drive or Dropbox cloud services to back up your most precious files.

3. Close some of your programs, already!
It’s true that we all own computers precisely for their ability to do multiple things at once, however that doesn’t mean that they don’t get overloaded when we put too much strain on them. This occurs when we have many different programs and applications open at the same time. The more Random Access Memory (RAM) a computer has, the greater its ability is at running many programs at once.

How to remedy
Simply close down any programs or applications that you don’t happen to be using.

4. Close some of your browser tabs, already!
Referring back to the point made earlier about RAM, this type of computer memory is also affected by having a million (and one) web browser tabs open at the same time. Don’t worry – there are other ways of keeping track of the tabs you have open.
How to remedy
Close down the tabs that you aren’t using, and make better use of the Bookmark function by bookmarking the tabs you want to refer back to a later stage.
Super Easy - Simple & Easy Steps To Connect Your Laptop to Your Tv
5. Too many programs loading on startup
You should always ensure that you uncheck the box giving a newly-downloaded program permission to load when you switch on your computer. This is because having too many programs loading on startup saps processing power. You can disable programs such as Microsoft Office or iTunes from loading on startup, however you should always leave your antivirus and firewall software turned on.

How to remedy
Windows 7 and previous
Point to the start button, then System Configuration. Go to the Startup tab, then uncheck each of the programs that you don’t want to load on startup.

Windows 8 and 10
Press the Windows and X keys simultaneously. Select the Task Manager from the Menu, then point to the Startup tab. Right-click on the programs that you want to remove, then select Disable.

Mac
Point to Applications - System Preferences - User Groups - Login Items, and uncheck all the programs you want to prevent from loading on startup.

6. Your computer needs a restart
Instead of going into the Task Manager and other things, as mentioned above, you could always give your computer a restart to clear up any issues you may be experiencing. This will “flush out” your computer system from any processes that have stopped working correctly.
How to remedy
Simply bite the bullet and restart your computer. First, make sure you close down anything important that you have open.

7Your operating system is too flashy for its own good
Visual effects are all well and good to make things look really nice when you’re using your computer, but all they serve to do is slow it down in the long run.
How to remedy
Windows 7 and previous
Point to the Start button, then Control Panel. Select Performance Information and Tools, followed by Adjust visual effects. Preferably, turn off all the effects, but you can leave a couple on if you like.
Windows 8 and 10
Press the Windows and X keys simultaneously. Select System, then point to Advanced System Settings - Performance Settings. Preferably, turn off all the effects, but you can leave a couple on if you like.

Mac
System Preferences - Dock, then, for minimizing applications, change that super-swish Genie effect to a utilitarian Scale effect (basically just disappearing). Also uncheck Animate Opening Applications.

Phones / 7 Cool Cell Phone Features Few Know About by TrillionBrains(m): 3:19am On Dec 30, 2016
1. Make Your Phone into a Listening Device

If you want to turn your phone into a spying device or a baby monitor, then you’re in luck. After enabling the Auto-Answer function, muting the microphone, speaker, ringtone, and vibration, simply put your cell phone in your chosen location, then remove yourself to another place and call the handset (using another device or phone). It will answer automatically without making any sound! And you'll be able to hear everything. Pretty cool, huh?
2. Take Photos Underwater
Smartphones are already waterproofed, but if it happens that yours isn’t, there is something wonderful you can do to make it so. Have a look at the above video to see how it can be done

3. Make Sure No One Can Use Your Stolen Phone
Every phone in the world has its own 15 digit IMEI number, which you can find by opening your dialer and typing *#06# with the keypad. It's also visible in Settings > About > Device > Status. If you’ve irretrievably lost or had your phone stolen, you can contact your phone company to block your device, simply by quoting your unique number. If everyone did this, phone theft would have virtually no purpose.

4. Turn Your Phone into a Microscope
Using a lens that you can find on a normal laser pointer you can manipulate your phone to magnify up to one hundred times the normal size. This will be great for showing kids cell nuclei, for instance. What’s more, the images you record will be digital, which could never be said of the microscopes we grew up with!

5. Make Astonishing Holograms!
Holograms are so incredible that most of us still have a hard time believing they are even possible. But the amazing truth is that you can make them yourself, using your own cell phone. Just wow! Watch the illuminating video above.

6. Set Up the ‘Face Unlock’ Feature:
People use different security measures to prevent others from using their phone. The most popular choices are a PIN, password, pattern gesture, or a very insecure finger swipe. Yet your phone can also do something incredible, which will certainly stop anyone using it. Android has a Face Unlock feature, that means only someone who looks identical to you can log into the phone. Simply go to Settings, Security, then tap Screen Lock and proceed to Face Unlock.
