As a result of damage by firepower and Russian artillery concentrated strikes, the Ukrainian military lost over 80 troops, 11 combat armored vehicles and 15 motor vehicles, the general said.

Russian air defense forces shot down three Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles and intercepted 21 HIMARS and Olkha rockets in the past day, Konashenkov reported.

The Ukrainian military made unsuccessful attempts to attack the positions of Russian troops in the Nikolayev-Krivoi Rog area, losing over 80 troops, Konashenkov reported.

"In the Nikolayev-Krivoi Rog direction, the enemy’s battalion tactical group unsuccessfully attacked the positions of Russian troops in the areas of the settlements of Bruskinskoye, Pyatikhatki and Trifonovka in the Kherson Region," the spokesman said.

Russian artillery fire and active troop operations thwarted a Ukrainian army attack in the southern Donetsk area, Konashenkov reported.

"In the southern Donetsk area, the enemy’s two company tactical groups attacked the Russian troops’ positions in the areas of the communities of Sladkoye and Vladimirovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The enemy’s attack was repelled by artillery fire and active operations of Russian army units," the spokesman said.

The enemy forces were pushed back to initial positions as a result of damage by firepower inflicted by Russian troops, which destroyed over 25 Ukrainian militants, one tank, five armored personnel carriers and four pickup trucks, the general added.

The Ukrainian military was pushed back in its unsuccessful attempts to wedge into the Russian troops’ defenses in the Krasny Liman area, Konashenkov reported.

Nigeria to revive trade relations with Russia

Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mr Abdullahi Shehu, has pledged Nigeria’s commitment to resuscitating trade relations between Nigeria and Russia.

Shehu made the announcement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Moscow, saying that he would ensure that Nigeria exported more goods to Russia.

Asked if Russia would support Nigeria’s current fight against insecurity, Shehu said that “Russia holds strongly to its policy of non-interference but that it will be willing to assist Nigeria on Nigeria’s request.

“Russia’s policy is that of non-interference. Let me take you back to the colonial era:

“When other countries were scrambling for influence in Africa, Russia, then the Soviet Union said that it was not an imperialist power and, therefore, it did not colonise any country in Africa.

“Their position is that they will not interfere in your domestic affairs unless you invite them to come.
