Thank you everyone that adviced me on what to do on my fiancé german visa ! Yes I have agreed that it's possible to marry in Germany from Nigeria!! Well my fiancé has summitted my documents to the registry in Meissen Germany, she gave them my birth certificate, bachelor certificate, the certificate of my fathers death and A1 certificate and my school certificate!! Now she said that the verification has started!! It's like a week now ! My question is please, will the agents call me before going to my hometown to visit my mom and siblings, Apart from my family, will they ask my uncles and village peoples ! Because apart from this platform, my uncles and my villagers doesn't know that I am getting married to a white ! Only my main family and they are strongly behind me 100percent!! And please after the verification which can take about 4 to 6months according to the words of my fiancé !! How long will I wait before I can apply for the German visa !! Help me but please no negativity! Just positive vibes !! Thank you
I still don't understand how you will conduct a legal marriage in Germany without physically being there but again what do I know. I'm not sure if the verification from the German court is the same as what is done when you apply for family reunion at the embassy. Though I suspect they are separate processes.

For family reunion visa however, the verification officer will contact you, as the verification process also includes verifying you. At least you'll know then that the process has started. I have no idea if your extended family will be interviewed but most times you'll be told to inform the persons to be interviewed. All of these takes a lot of time

Triumphantglory or anyone that has done verification with lawyer before.

Please can you be kind to explain the Verification interview (Where they call the mother, inlaws and witnesses) goes. What kind of questions do they ask them ?

What should they prepare for ?

Thanks.
They actually don't call. They physically visit. In my case they visited two persons from my family, one from my hubby, and one from my job. The verification officer has a form which he gives them to fill. It's basically asking them for the same information you spouse filled on her own application. Name, date of birth, schools you went, HOW did you meet, your wedding date those kind of stuff.

They will also ask for pictures

Ladies and gentle men in the house, long time! Please I am in dire need of information as regards some documents and they are: 1.Where and how much can I get my certificate(s) translated in German language? 2. how can i get police clearance certificate which must not be older than 3 months at the start of a training? 3. Also, which recognised hospital can i get a medical certificate which must not be older than 3 months at the start of a training in Germany?

1. Not sure, but I think you can do this at the German consulate in Lagos
2. Nigeria police force, you're supposed to be able to start this process online but I'd advice you walk into the police headquarters in the state you reside. It cost me about 7k when I did one and no I didn't bribe
3. Any federal medical centre or general hospital can issue you a medical certificate. You might need to run some basic lab investigations

Please treat with utmost regard.
Thanks

Please I really need someone to help me or tell me what to do ! I am Daniel and I am from Abia state and I live here in Lagos state ! I have a fiancé, who is a German woman ! We met online and we talked and get to know more about each other and finally she came 2017 October and we spent 2 months together but we didn't get married due to at of that time she was filling for divorce papers!! She wanted to help me with a visiting visa and I applied but due to I haven't traveled before, I got rejected!! I believe that's the reason and I was very sad cry and I went to an agent who told me that he can secure a France visa for me (schengen) and I can use it to in France and from there I can find my root to Germany by train and I said Good because I was desperate and wanted to leave with my woman !! But unfortunately it was rejected also due to is not up to 2 weeks I left from German embassy! So I have been struggling with my visa process ever since and my fiancé now told me that we can marry in Germany, that I should write the A1 examinations (prufüng) which I did and I passed it !! I have give her the certificate, my school certificate, birth certificate, bachelor certificate, two photocopies of my international passport which must be issued by the court that its original!! She's about to summit it to there registry ( Standesamt) .. I am very worried because I haven't seen anyone who left Nigeria just like that to fly to another man's country to marry because I don't think is possible due to the record Nigeria has !! Secondly, she is older than me I am 29 years and she is 64years old and age doesn't matter to me but the person inside of you , that's all that matters most !! So they might the age difference between us and start thinking negatively!! So please please please, I need assistance or is it possible that I can go to Germany and marry her after my 6months verification !! Tochukwudaniel00@gmail.com
Hmmmmm....I don't mean to be rude or mean but you sound desperate and that might be a huge hindrance to achieving what you want. Sometimes you have to buy yourself in the shoes of the person reviewing your visa. Once they catch a sense of desperation then it's unlikely your application will be successful.

I think your marriage process will be a whole less cumbersome if your fiancee comes to Nigeria to marry you. It would be a lot easier for you to do statutory marriage here than in Germany.

All the best bro

Man, I have a job already in Berlin. Resumption date is supposed to be on the 15th. Still no visa appointment.

This is crazy. I have the Federal Government agency thing and my signed work contract. Everything, Just an appointment.

It's crazy they say even slots in March are filled.

Stupid and dumb question, but Is there some kind of way to hasten the visa appointment process? I really have to leave the country before the end of the month or 2nd week of February latest. ( Booking a late flight is not an issue ).
Try at midnight. I had no issues getting visa dates for myself and three kids but I used a Mac book so you could try that too

The embassy already knows which institution are allowed conduct language testing. She needs to get certified by the embassy I believe. Otherwise she teaches but the students still go to goethe institute for their exam.
The problem isn't with writing the exams, you can register for the exam and take a flight to Lagos and max three days you're out. But expecting me to put my life on hope to stay in Lagos to learn the language is the headache.

It's about time this thread existed,a lot will benefit from it. Had my interview for family reunion over three years ago,the only thread about Germany on nairaland existed for the students visa. .
One thing I'd like to add though,it's great if you can learn the basic deutsch (A1) before one gets to Deutschland. Goethe Institute in Lagos teaches deutsch. Most germans would not speak English except for the younger ones or in the bigger cities like Berlin. Wishing everyone success in their endeavours. Alles gute, tschüss
Problem is we don't all live in Lagos. Getting a German language school even in Abuja was like looking for a needle. I do think they should decentralise the Language bit of the institute like what the British Council does

It was a looooong tedious process as the officer actually goes literally everywhere. I had to follow him around to speed up things because of terrain some locations would have been difficult to find using just the address.

Great news and we wish you good luck.

I have a number of questions I'd like to ask regarding the application process.

1. Did the Verification Officer visit the entire family members you listed on the forms?
2. Did you do any document verification?
3. Since your spouse has a blue card you are not required to show proof of language, was this asked for?

Thanks.
@Sam8850 The verification officer visited my parents and a witness from my spouse. He visited all the institution that issued any form of documentation including all the hospitals where I and my children were born. For me my life was basically across two states in Nigeria and in the UK. I am guessing they also verified the UK bit.

I didn't do any document verification. But then again my husband had done most of that prior to starting a job.

Sorry again I had to ask him again. He doesn't have a blue card as he was employed directly by the government. He works in a research institution. However, I still didn't need to present language certification as i had degrees outside Nigeria

I am applying for family reunion visa. Had my interview in October and I guess verification is complete even though I didn't get an email on that. My spouse has a blue card and has been invited to the foreign office for an interview next week. God's willing we'll get a favourable response this month.

Yes, You must get A1 certificate from Goethe Institut.
There are exceptions to this. I didn't need to present a language certificate for family reunion visa as I had a doctorate degree from a UK university. The kind of job your spouse does might also exempt you from the language criteria

I applied with my 3 kids and I paid only 150k for verification. You will be paying separate visa application fees though

I am also applying for the family reunion visa and I went for the interview on the 20th of October. I've had a n investigator come to verify all my documents but I haven't seen that mentioned on this thread and I am kind of wondering if it's just me.

Secondly the investigator said he couldn't verify my primary school attendance as the school I went to got burnt and didn't have records. They wrote an official letter and gave to him stating these. Please will it be a problem
