1. I make intelligent posts (if I want to) 2. I'm arguably the most strutinized member 3. I'm extremely handsome 4. One of the funniest 5. I get temporarily banned for the most stupid reasons 6. I'm probably the most intelligent 18-year-old on this forum 7. Multiple of my threads have made headlines in just under 2 months of membership 8. I have the most detractors I can go on & on. . . sharetroll = nairaland G.O.A.T That is all. You may speak now. |

GNature:I live near South Beach. . .great nightlife. . .you should come visit Coral Gables next time you visit Miami again. Amazing architectures and landscape. . . |
deejay1:That is one of the major reasons, good job. deejay1:To be fair, I think the kids would probably be more into Soccer if they showed games and highlights on ESPN. Once every few weeks they show a game in the afternoon, ESPN plays a game but other than that, nothing. They show poker re-runs all day long, (which is a joke) but won't put on a game. On SportsCenter the only highlight they show is of a missed shot, otherwise nothing. Kids just arent exposed to Soccer like they are the other major sports. |
Tornadoz:I'll tell you what. I don't know much about Rugby, but any time I see a match on TV I am fixated. I don't know much about classical music, but I can tell you Tchaikovsky's Pathetique is an amazing piece of work. Not liking Soccer has nothing to do with a lack of patience or a lack of understanding. It's a sport commonly decided by one goal, and that one goal is too often decided by guys throwing themselves to the ground to draw a foul. I'll tell you what, that sport is not for me. |
seeni4ever:Did you bump your head? Are you bleeding? Do you need someone to call you a doctor? Please God someone help him before its too late!!! The shere horror and madness could have easily been avoided if someone was around to help him. |
ThiefOfHearts:LeBron actually played football in high/secondary school. Besides, LeBron isn't the only example I gave in my post. . . |
ThiefOfHearts:My point exactly: Is Golf popular here? |
Soccer is more of an endurance and finesse sport, but there isn't a single world class sprinter in professional Soccer. There are many in the NFL. Apparently people have no idea just how big, fast and strong NFL players are. Just look at some of the combine numbers from NFL hopefuls. Take Calvin Johnson. . . .guy ran a 4.35 40 yard dash. No one on any professional soccer team can run that. These guys are NCAA sprint champions. It's safe to say that Johnson is far far stronger than any Soccer player. And when I say far stronger, I mean that he's far far far stronger. And then. . .consider that Johnson is 239 lbs. OMG! He's bigger, stronger and faster than any Soccer player anywhere. We're talking pure athleticism here. Of course, the Soccer player has a skill which Johnson does not. So what. A pro bowler has a skill too. Oh. . .and Johnson has a vertical jump over 45". Calvin Johnson wasn't even the fastest guy there. One guy ran a 4.32. And he's 204 lbs. Adrian Peterson is a huge guy and ran a 4.3. The are 280 lb guys in the NFL that can run a 4.55. Bottom line. . .athletically, Soccer dudes don't remotely compare to the guys in the NFL. And if you think about it. . . . LeBron James is bigger than anyone in pro Soccer. LeBron James is stronger than anyone in pro Soccer. LeBron James is faster than anyone in pro Soccer. If you want me I can bring the stats out as well. I'm a stat freak. |
ThiefOfHearts:Many responses, but not the main reason. More kids play Soccer growing up. So they know how to play, but on the beautiful summer day when they're deciding what to do. . . .they don't choose soccer. Too many better choices. And I have one word for you. . . .Golf |
Donzman:Football requires VERY different body and skill types. You won't see Soccer players make some of the spectacular catches while flying through the air and somehow keeping their feet inbounds, or require the raw power to shake off immensely strong 250+ pound tacklers. Football is more of a pure power sport, and it requires more athleticism. Watch the football games, you'll know what I mean. . . |
https://www.flapix.com/portfolio/art/jpgs/MiamiHurricanes.jpg Da U BABY!!! Known for our nasty defense. . . . my2cents:Tell the guy that changed the title |
That last pic you posted brings back so much much memories. The Miami Hurricanes was known to play dirty back then given the title the "bad-boys of Miami". You know what was funny: Miami won the championship in 1987. . .then they put the school on probation 1988 b/c fans were buying the players assets like jewelry & new cars. . .we came back & won the National Championship again in 1989, then was put on probation again for vitually behavior problems in 1990. . . .then we won again in '91. Man, did the Hurricanes dominate the 80's. Every team despised us b/c of out arrogance on top of the fact that we were soooo good. As a little baby, my dad would take me to the Orange Bowl to watch team practice & meetings. . . . Good 'ole days. . . |
OH C'MON GUYS. . . .This thread is FUN!!! |
texazzpete:How was my statements contradictory? |
KoMe Nuthugger, You may say that Kobe is the better defender b/c he's more than a lock down defender than Wade. . . and I say no, it is Wade's defense that is better than Kobe, Wade utilize something called "bush doctrine" in which his offense is so robust that his opponents are worn out and/or in foul trouble and therefore cannot perform as expected on offense. Wade's overall defense was rated at 14.0 opp per. (against the elite guards in the East) http://www.82games.com/0607/0607MIA.HTM Kobe's is the same at 14.0 (not as much Elite guards in the West) http://www.82games.com/0607/0607LAL.HTM "Bush Doctrine" doesn't work in the real work because it's a multipoler setting and everybody will sees Bush as the aggressor and gang up on him but in a bipoler setting such as basketball game it works great! Players like Wade applies "active defense" where he wears opponents out, gets them in foul trouble, etc. on BOTH sides of the court, as opposed to "passive defense" by players like Ben Wallace. His opponents overall production went down even more than when playing against Kobe! In a nut shell, it's like you hit people so hard that they can't even get up, let alone trying to punch you back, as oppose to trying to dodge or block their punches. You picked on the wrong person. . . . |
Donzman:Jealousy. You are jealous of all of the attention that football gets. I ran track in high school, and many of the non-reveue sport athletes were insanely down on football and basketball. Some would even apply the "dumb jock" stereotypes to football players and basketball players, when the general public applies those same stereotypes to athletes of their sports, too. But I had a different attitude b/c I played football, too. I knew that the revenue sports (especially basketball) funded the non-revenue sports. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. That applies to general soccer population, as well. The NFL and college football bring a lot of money to a lot of communities that their economies wouldn't have, otherwise. |
sexxxxy:Haha, I'm in trouble, that's funny. Some computer junkie types up a blazing insult and hits "post" with her mouse button while she eats a tv dinner? Uh oh, maybe this post will get me in "trouble." Better watch out. |
Eastcoast:I love you. |
KoMe Nuthugger, Just another reason why Wade is better than Kobe. Lets look at the facts. Lets look at the numbers. I posted each player's influence on the floor. No bullcrap, just what happens. When Kobe is on the floor, the team gives up 1.2 fewer points per 100 possessions compared to when he's not on the floor. When Wade is on the floor, the Heat give up 5.7 fewer points per 100 possessions than when he is not on the floor. Interestingly, the Heat also are more reliant on Wade for offense than the Lakers are on Kobe for offense. The same is true last year. What annoys me about twits like you is that you like to denigrate the other guy to make your guy look good. Kobe is a great player, In my opinion, the 2nd best wing player in the NBA this year behind Wade. Trying to put down Wade to build up Kobe, or trying to put down Kobe to build up Lebron, or trying to put down Lebron to build up Wade, or vice versa, its all crap. Something you might want to look at. Each player's +/- (impact on the team when they are on or off the floor). First, Wade. http://www.82games.com/0607/06MIA5D.HTM Then Kobe. http://www.82games.com/0607/06LAL7D.HTM As you can see from that, Wade actually seems to be a bigger influence on both ends of the court than Kobe. Kobe per 100 possessions, is a +5.3 player. Wade, per 100 possessions is a +14.5 player. That's a huge difference. I prefer Wade. To me, he is the best wing player now for a number of reasons. He drives and finishes better than pretty much anybody now. He gets more "and ones" as a result such that his points per shot is extremely good. Your comments?. . .and please, don't bring up your "Wade crying" tactic to indirectly elude my statements this time. |
kobesosimi:Then why don't you "obliterate" it. . . . . .or perhaps you can't answer it? I would choose to elude the question if I didn't have an answer, either. kobesosimi:. . . . .but he was crying over something that never went to trial, nonetheless. . .The guy just can't stand pressure in those type of situations. Again, I ask you, how his your pic relevant to the topic? kobesosimi:LMAO. . . .You sound like a retard. Didn't Kobe have Shaq as well. . . .a younger Shaq, along w/ a younger Payton & Malone, yet he still decided to be selfish and chuck the Lakers into defeat, shooting a pathetic 38%. . . .sometimes I think you forget that you're speaking to a avid basketball fan. My questions are so easy to answer, yet you refuse to answer them. . . . kobesosimi:A winning one, nonetheless. . . .25-21, but Miami is 2-8 w/o Wade, your point?. . . .the real question is: How would Shaq & co. fare w/o Wade in the lineup. I think that answer is obvious. BTW, ever since Miami drafted Wade, the Heat have won over 68% of their games w/ Wade on the roster, w/ or w/o Shaq OWNED kobesosimi:Yeah, What else was I expecting from a 13-year-old troll? kobesosimi:We are talking shoulder. Son, now I don't even take you as serious anymore. . . .And how do you know the severity of his shoulder injury? Have you ever had a shoulder dislocation yourself, I've had one. It's the worst pain in the world. Some even say it's worse than getting your arm cut off. Difference between his & mine was: I was able to pop mine back in at the moment. You sound like another BlackMamba (and I ain't talking about Kobe). You may go now. |
LoverBwoy:Are you implying NFL players are not as tough? Emmitt Smith played w/ a seperated shoulder for most of his career w/ the Cowboys. . . .Junior Seau suffered a wrist injury, waiving to fans while being sidelined. . . . .Ronnie Lott ask the doctor if he can cut his pinky off, so he can continue his NFL career. That is being tough. Just b/c they have a protective gear doesn't mean these players are not tough. Why shouldn't players have energy drinks. Do you know how many players have died on the field b/c of dehydration? Your arguements are not coherent & your logic is definately flawed. |
rikkyjen:Your post cannot be reasonably addressed in the manner it was intended. |
Badman888:LOL, When you've got games that are 1-0, and many of those games are decided by people throwing themselves to the ground to draw a foul (heck that is the whole strategy of Portugal) no thanks, I'll watch another sport. Soccer skill set: shooting a ball and falling (aka flopping) *exaggeration needed* |
