tdayof: Your question is of no need. Why compare the F-7 to a rafale?? this right here is the your problem? it's either you lack cognitive or just acting out of your low self esteem? so which modern aircrafts do we have to counter an air raid of a 4th/5th generation aircraft? or what SAM batteries or any modern ADS do we have to protect our skies? read the question again carefuly this time or just keep mute if your light bulb remains dim |

Henry240: We did not use those Jaguars, they were practically useless to the Nigerian Air Force. Jaguars are ground attack aircrafts with no Radar, and we bought 18 of them.
The F-7NI is an upgraded, Multi-role aircraft, we bought 15 of them, although a couple units have been lost to crashes. Which isn't unexpected when you realize the Nigerian Air Force is the most active Air Force south of the Sahara.
The Alpha jets are an affordable option, hence the requirement to apply them more than the F-7.
The problem with some of you Nigeria's is as a result of a low-self esteem and a complete lack of self worth.
Nigerian Security Forces are deployed in 9 African countries besides our own. We are also very well equipped to deal with the security challenges we have faced since the 1960s. We are not a Giant of Africa, because we say so, we are a Giant of Africa because we have consistently proven so. don't shift the argument henry. does Nigeria possess any modern ground based air defence systems aside rolands, guns, shilka and manpads to counter high altitude targets. which of the SAM batteries do we have? are the f-7s capable of countering a 10 formation rafael jets say if france decides to play? that's how you argue objectively. |

Shikena baba this same mistake was what we made at the beginning of BH war amd reminds me of the days of beegeagle . we have it but it's secret even to the manufacturers who publish records of sales of such sophistication . aside from our air defence guns which are in no way capable of enough to protect our airspace, it's a known fact that we lack the sophisticated medium to long range air defence systems no matter how you try to sugarcoat it. baba. i no dey military no mean sey i no sabi wetin dey guan. we no get am no be crime baba. na make we no claim wetin no dey and ginga the top brass and government to make am happen dey more important pass empty chest beating.

lionel4power: stop the insults bro.
you are better actually, it wasn't an insult. this nonsense Nigerians keep starting here has become so annoying. i'm surprised that henry that seems to be intelligent could brag about this threaad going global(something i give him credit for) yet didn't realise it's time this thread is kept clean at least most of the time and avoid unnecesarry arguments instead of cheering on his derailment squad and sometimes starting the whole thing. hope he adds this traits to his resume too . |

lionel4power: Showdown! you guys should stop this bickering.
Those guys comparing Iraqi airforce with the COALITION during the Operation DEsert Storm should understand that Saddam Hussein while fearing his Airforce (because the Iraqi Airforce has a history of disobedience and rebellion) told them to bury their jets or send them over to Iran. HE WARNED THEM NOT TO FIGHT, BELIEVING THAT THE US CIA HAS BRIBED THEM
Personally I believe that the iraqis could really hurt the Coalition if they wanted to, as of then the Iraq military was the best in middle east and some of Europe.
ANYWAY MOVING ON... . . we all know that NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES AND THE SOUTH AFRICAN ARMED FORCES ARE HIGHLY EQUIPPED FOR THEIR CURRENT THREATS.
South africa is burdened with having the busiest sealanes in the world so as such she requires real naval muscles vis her frigates.
.
Nigeria is saddled with pirates in her coast so she has sufficient OPVs as required.
. THE PROBLEM IN YOUR ARGUMENT IS THAT YOU GUYS ARENT ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTION.
. What about tomorrows crises or conflict?
. YES NIGERIA has enough systems to cover todays war marginally what about TOMORROW?
. our south african brothers has enough firepower to quench any threat now and tomorrow. that is a forward way of thinking it shows sound planning.
. both our armed forces took an oath to protect our countries constitution and integrity from both EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL THREATS. the difference between us and the south africans, algerians, morrocans, egyptian, sudanese, tunisians is that THEY WENT FURTHER TO REINFORCE THEIR DEFENCE While we feel comfortable to sit and dwell in our current posture.
SOME people here feels like they are more 'patriotic' than others forgetting that 'patriotism' cannot be quantified. at the end of the day whether GOOD or BAD its on us.
. THERES ALWAYS 3 SIDES TO A STORY; YOUR SIDE, MY SIDE AND THE TRUTH. be careful before the ignorant @henry's d1ckriders start to call you names for being logical rather than reason with emotions. |

it's funny that Nigerians are being decieved that we have the infrastructure to counter a conventional air threat. we are just lucky to be surrounded by poor countries. dropping bombs on insurgents with zero air defence capabilities is totally different from fighting a conventional air threat. hate to break it to you but for the sake of passing the right info to those who actually are here to learn, our rolands(God knows if they still function) that haven't seen recent upgrade, our outdated ARADU(if not stripped already) and manpads is not worth bragging about. a decent airforce with 4th generation aircrafts will stroll in our airspace with ease. only few countries in africa can brag of adequate air defence systems and SA and Nigeria are none but here, who wants the truth when we can keep decieving ourselves and laugh over it . |

Patchesagain: Unfortunatly, your Military History needs to be polished
Iraq had one of the finest militaries in the world at the time, during the ten year war against Iran (which had finised ~2 years before GW 1) they had received some of the finest training and equipment BOTH the West and the East had to offer.
The Iraqi airforce had extensive experience in Air-to-Air combat, doding SAM's and attacking well defended positions.
Their SAM crews had extensive experience shooting down Iranian jets and dealing with Iranian SEAD and EW
They Iraqi army of 1990 was extensivly experienced, very well equipped, but poorly trained. The American army of 1990 was extensivly trained and well equipped, but poorly experienced.
The Americans, as we all know, wiped the floor with the Iraqi's. well, the iranians at that time weren't much of a threat themselves and not comparable to NATO. in one of the CS50(computer science) classes i took, they talked about how the iraqis knowing how useless their airforce was against western SAM batteries, had to modify their scud missiles to evade the patriot. so when after it misses they are detonated to avoid casualties when it falls to the ground. lots of people, expecially journalists were fed that the fireballs in the sky were hits. don't want to bore you with technical details you can google dhahran base attack during that war. turned out the iraqis were hitting US and ally targets with ease till the patriot radar tracking software was updated. they did have impressive army and air defence infrastructure to counter any conventional air threat. plus, it was like iraq against the world, what did you expect was going to be the outcome when even a more powerful NAZI Germany failed. |

chike00: i agree with the bolded all through. but you must know his arguments aint little and its making coming to this thread tiresome. i have been a frequent observer for years(right after the days of beegeagle) i know how to sieve out bull*hit. but not when everybody seems to be scared of telling him the truth hence leading to pages of banters instead of information worth sharing. Sprechen meiner Meinung well, for the sake of being logical(regardless of patriotic defense of a countryman ). he didn't start the first argument you intervened in and had to respond to the way @henry falsely interpreted the channels video. only problem is @frumentius needs to tone down the insults when reponding to wrong perceptions. and before some fool will misunderstand my stance, i've become acustomed to this thread that i've lost appetite for the US vs THEM sentiment some people still have. which means telling a Nigerian when he's wrong. nothing wrong with that . |
