jln115: Exactly as someone said earlier no African country really has the force projection to actually attack an invade another country like Nigeria, SA , Algeria ect ect!! That said you don't invade countries with your air force! EAF would cripple a country like Nigeria which has no modern air defence systems but as a rule of thumb(or so I read) you need a invading force 2-4 times larger than the one your trying to invade, to actually be able to invade and hold that territory successfully! Not every conventional conflict has to be about invasion. What he pointed out is a very clear possibility if there was to be a crisis between the two countries(anything is possible). In this situation they can just cause enough damage with 2-3 rounds of air raids to cripple our infrastructure etc. That can make a devastating impact to delay a retaliation. This talk of it can never happen is just nonsense. |

Algerian1: They have air refueling capacity , they can use Sudan bases or libyan skies and nigeria neighbours skies are no mans land ( cameroun , south tchad , center africa , niger ) no good radars capacity , no air defense , no jets to stop them , they can refuel in many close skies to nigeria , no one will see them ( maybe only french radars in this countries ) , with their AWACS they can get a safe control of the skies temporarily . and refuel over cameroun or south niger or republic center africa
Egyptian air force with their Rafale, F16 , AWACS , can strike easily in 48h all your major air foce bases , all your navy bases destroy all your Navy and for economy if they strike oil gas fields and facilities , here Nigeria will have a big problem not only to sustain a war but to maintain its economy .
Of course if this unlikely scenario happens it would only be limited to aerial strikes, with air superiority for Egypt , given the distance no ground attack is possible without hudge loses
thats why I find it strange that a big country like nigeria has no modern Air defense capacity , This has always been my worry |

PaperLace: 1. Your dad is/has been a chronic, irresponsible, unrepentant and insensitive cheat. 2.He has subjected the innocent woman to all sorts of emotional and physical abuse, even from third parties (his side chicks). 2b. All for no fault of hers. 3. He is currently with one of his side chicks. 4. Their sex life is dead. 5. Mummy is beautiful and fit _halleluyah somebody!!! 6. Mummy is independent and strong. 7. Mummy wanted to leave the marriage, you told her not to. 8. Now, mummy is moving on with her life (albeit wrongly) and you're not happy.
What kind of son are you bikonu? You don't want her to leave the marriage, you don't want her to move on. What do you want? Disrespecting her vows is NO-NO, so _ allow her leave. She should have one steady partner and not multiple, that's the only thing you should be advising her on (If at all you should advise her).
Did it ever occur to you, that just like so many married women, with community horsebands, your mum was waiting for her kids to grow within a complete family system(as society demands) before divorcing? You still decided to stop her.
This is why it's good for women to be independent and remain physically appealing. All that "who will want you after 3kids" threat, na for women wey no know wassup.
Soldier come, soldier go _barracks go remain. This na open marriage Season1. Honestly, if it was my mum (which she also went through same, but my old man later came to his senses before they got older), I would have given this same advice because I understand what the woman went through. @op, just caution your mum to stick to one partner because she also needs to have a life and feel loved as a human being. That marriage is long overdue for divorce |

The French do not fly any Mirage F1s. They have Mirage 2000Ds and Drones stationed in Tchad. Nigeria does not fly ATR-47s either. What we have are ATR-42s.
Within the MNJTF framework, countries are allowed to work in each other's territory. MNJTF HQ in Baga coordinates the activities of all member forces operating in the AO.
French fighters stationed in Tchad and Niger only support Operation Barkhane. They are not an extension of the Niger or Tchadian Air Force. Lionel come explain o. Cos that post got me wandering. |

Air combat over the West African Airspace.
'If the enemy is in range, so are you.'- Infantry Journal-
A recently released French Military declassified document showed that contrary to general opinion, the airspace of west Africa has been busy with several air combat maneuvers tand counter-maneuvers. According to the document, Nigerian Air Force warplanes heading towards N'Djamena has been intercepted and forced to turn back several times by the combined Air Forces of Chad and France which are stationed in the N'Djamena international airport.

There were two posts on subject matter both differ in context and meaning of the writers objective. You see the problem is first comprehension, that's the problem we have on this thread. If u paused and separated the meanings from the meaning in the context of 1.Possible war & 2. Peace time contingencies we wouldn't be here.
All we do is come here and reel off armaments and platforms as if those are just what wins you wars. The Japanese in the Second World War and prior used the bamboo stick for effective killing tool. The Red Army held out in Leningrad against a more superior army until the elements of nature took it's tool on an enemy not acclimatized to such conditions. A whole set of factors play in war. The Ethiopians had the advantage of geography against the Italians. The Generals in Nigeria know the advantages of our topography in an emergency. You think wars are just buying guns and bullets—that's all I see on here. It is open source info, check the status of the former US Coast Guard Gallatin during the Cold War and refute my statement with a straight face. The current users classified it what they classified it not me and plausibly did based on it's profile and potential.

For time factor as an agent of the king I'll give this first and we might try understand when possible. I'm impressed with the civility thus far. Would help us more. todayof though has given some insights but I'll explain some of my comments.
1. First "modern and highly sophisticated" doesn't mean more powerful. Still operations from the NNS Unity and Centenary are highly digitized and automated making for ease of naval operations from captain to naval rating. It has a stealth advantage.
2. I'll try find vid of a Danish warship shooting down incoming projectile with it's 76mm gun as proof that these guns are highly versatile. Infact that Danish ship used no missiles in it's simulations.
3. Our stealth OPVs can defend itself. I'll post proof. I write in hurry being about the kings business. Gotta go I'll see u guys.
4. And mostly importantly guys pls try to understand military science. In a war forces are integrated for maximum effect. No one arm of the military goes to war alone. See the North-East Nigeria for reference.
5. No one is invading anyone.
Covert. [/s] First of all, you need to drop this spy nonsense. No one's buying it. |

Covert1: Clap, clap, clap for Admiral giles 14 Here we go again déjà vu. They come to nairaland and reel off weapons yet the countries they mention have never been able to stop a Nigerian offensive whether directly or by proxy. Where were the Cameroonian's during the invasion of the Bakassi peninsular.
You obviously know more than the Admiral in the vid. That Admiral must be so stupid not to know the threat equilibrium in his neighborhood and yet make that statement with certainty.
I'll not join issues but just look at what you typed acting admiral in your bedroom. Thanks but no thanks I enjoy my sleep.
You see that little girl wearing that sub. Lt. rank in charge of electronic and computer engineering can neutralize an incoming anti-ship missile via counter-measures. That's one option among many like CIWS suite carried on ships for self defence.
About the 76mm gun you ridicule even heavy frigates still employ guns in that category as their primary weapon. Those guns are radar guided to accurately hit their targets including incoming projectiles. Stop belittling them like others here.
Stealth OPVs are great assets at sea. Their radar cross section is highly reduced at sea making them hard to detect for annihilation. Nigeria's NNS Unity and Centenary may not be frigates but they are more modern and highly sophisticated than most frigates (I didn't say all) that currently exist in Africa today. Nigeria has missile coverttes and modern fast attack crafts among many detection capabilities to seize the initiative. You go to war with appropriate assets for the threat you face. In the Gulf of Guinea Nigeria still holds the advantage by far in the Naval balance of power. I don't expect Henry240 to call you to order since you both share the same mentality, but please try to behave Augustine. It's been years and you are still acting like this? How many countries in Africa own frigates? Which of them is our Chinese OPV more sophisticated than? Na NORTH KOREA fit people like you, delusional patriots Try to bring up facts bro, not this rubbish you keep displaying here. Our tucanos (if the deal will sail through) will not change anything with France still militarily controlling much of our neighbors we share borders with and please grow some sense and stop the Africa as a whole thing, we both love our country but you seem to be out of touch with reality. Covert1: By region I mean Africa. West Africa is our sub-region. North-East Nigeria encompasses Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states where the Nigerian Military is currently engaged in active counter terrorism operations.
Presently the Nigerian Air Force considers itself a credible threat and deterrence and among the foremost Air Forces that currently exist in the region. But gaps exist some of which the A-29 covers. The A-29 is not only primed for COIN. It is a 4th generation aircraft effective for the ground attack role and interdiction in a low threat environment.
This procurement sees an advanced suite and weapons systems on the Embraer A-29 Super Tucano non-existent currently in sub-Saharan Africa and arguably only Egypt comes close. Integrated in a complex of systems and assets for air-superiority, air-defence, ECM/EW, early warning, C&C, targeting and strike etc and very importantly pilot skill and capacity makes the NAF far more potent and viable than previously existed bringing hitherto unchallenged and uncontested air space into contention. This alters the current balance of air power in the region. Na wa o. This your high self esteem can make Nigeria a world power with just one T-14 Tank If I talk now your second go talk sey I no get self worth |
