They were calling out the ills of their government for 'the world' to see their pains and intervene by entreating their government appropriately. Who's the world here I'm talking about? The same world Zelensky and Ukrainians cried out to. The government and people who have strong values and belief in human rights and freedom of expression. The UN, EU, AI, WHO, the US, UK, Canada... Not China or Russia, even though they are part of the UN. Why?
Because they can't give what they don't have. They don't understand any of these liberal ideologies and have bad records with them too.

The point is any leader in this 21st century should be responsible enough to listen to his citizens' cry for causes of worry and dissatisfaction about his leadership, without brutalizing them. This is what dictators can't handle, and this is where the US steps in to fuel regime change, through the will of the people.

Is it not elementary knowledge is that the GDP of a country grows when resources are appropriately explored?

Imagine what will happen if each state or region manages their own reasources.

Each state in Nigeria has resources but human and natural that can be harnessed to build the state.

Canada, United states, UK and other developed countries in the world practice true federalism where states or regions control their resources thereby boosting economy growth.

In Nigeria what we have is a situation where the central govt spoon feeds the states each month, states can't control their resources and they had to depend on the FG.
